Description
The kitchen blender has undergone a number of changes
since its first blender introduced in 1937 by W.G. Barnard.
It was designed to mix, puree and emulsify the food and
other substances. The conventional design consists of a
blender jar with a rotating metal blade at the bottom,
powered by an electric motor in the base.
Evolution
The first model of a blender was made for blending
liquids and apparently known as drink mixer, found in
1920s. It was in 1937 that the basic design of the existing
blender was introduced by Vitamix, before undergoing
many changes to fit the convenience of the user. The
basic design was functionally a reinforced blender with a
stainless steel jar which was replaced with a glass jar with
a scale to enable the user to notice the level of the
ingredients. The blades were optimized in such a way
that it allows the food to constantly move all around the
jar tucking it down to the blades through them and back
up to the size of the jar, whirling around in a constant
vortex.
Human Engineering
How does it work?
When the motor in a blender is connected to electrical
power and activated, the shaft will spin at a very high
rate of speed. When the shaft spins, the blades that are
