FULL DAY AL CAON DEL COLCA

1. DESCRIPCION DE LA EXCURSION:
Nuestra excursin al Can del Colca comienza a las 05:00 hrs.
Nuestros clientes son recogidos de su hotel en Arequipa por
nuestro gua / representante local. A continuacin vamos a
bordo de una mquina privada y conduciremos al noroeste
siguiendo una carretera asfaltada hacia el "Can del Colca".
Despus de algn tiempo vamos a llegar a Pampa Caahuas
(3500 m / 11.482 pies), una reserva nacional donde los
visitantes pueden ver algunas vicuas y alpacas.
A diferencia de las alpacas, vicuas son animales salvajes, y
todava se puede ver corriendo libremente en estas altas
mesetas. Nos detendremos en este parque nacional y nuestro
gua local proporcionar informacin acerca de estos camlidos
andinos tmidos. Luego continuamos nuestro viaje hacia el
Can del Colca, poco ms arriba nos detendremos ms en el
pequeo restaurante de Viscachani, donde se puede disfrutar
de un impresionante paisaje de los Andes y tambin beber un t
de coca tpica. Luego continuaremos ascendiendo un camino de
tierra hasta llegar al punto ms alto de nuestro viaje, "el
mirador de los Andes (4.800 m / 15.748 pies). En la parte
superior, vamos a bajar del autobs unos minutos para
observar el paisaje, que tiene en el fondo de los volcanes
Ubinas, Mismi, Misti, Chachani, Sabancaya (activo) y Ampato.
Ms adelante vamos a conducir cuesta abajo hacia el pueblo
principal del Can del Colca, el pueblo de Chivay (3600 m /
11.811 pies).
En Chivay vamos a empezar a seguir un camino de tierra que
corre paralelo con el ro Colca, mostrando increbles vistas del
Can del Colca. Este camino nos llevar a la famosa mirador
natural conocido como la Cruz del Cndor. En el camino hacia la
Cruz del Cndor podr disfrutar de espectaculares vistas del
can y ver una serie de terrazas agrcolas antiguos tallados
en las laderas de las montaas. La gente de estas regiones
dedica su vida exclusivamente a la agricultura, por lo tanto,
ver muchos campos de cultivo (dependiendo de la temporada
que lo visite), principalmente patatas, maz y otros productos
nativos del Per. Mientras conduce por el borde del can del
Colca se puede observar el gran ro Colca y tambin algunas
comunidades pequeas. En un momento vamos a tropezar con
una extraa roca, donde las arquitecturas antiguas talladas

terrazas, poniendo a prueba (tal vez) qu partes del Can eran

aptas para el cultivo.
Adems, tambin ver misteriosos tumbas colgantes en las
laderas. Despus de un tiempo vamos a llegar a la Cruz del
Cndor, donde vamos a pasar una hora o as, observando los
hermosos cndores andinos, as como impresionantes vistas del
Can. A continuacin, vamos a volver al pueblo de Chivay para
el almuerzo. Ms adelante, si lo desea podemos ir a visitar los
baos termales de La Calera. En este lugar usted ser capaz de
relajarse en las grandes piscinas termales situadas al aire libre.
Sin duda, esta primavera caliente es uno de los mejores de todo
el pas, ya que se encuentra dentro de un rea donde los
volcanes son muy activos. Despus de un bao relajante,
vamos a llevar nuestro coche privado de regreso a Arequipa.
Volveremos en Arequipa alrededor de las 19:00 hrs. A su
llegada, ser trasladado a su hotel. Fin de la excursin.

FULL DAY TO COLCA

1. DESCRIPTION OF THE EXCURSION:
Our excursion to the Colca Canyon starts at 05:00 hrs. Our
clients are collected from their hotel in Arequipa by our local
guide/representative. Afterwards we will board a private
machine and will drive northwest following a paved road
towards the Colca Canyon. After some time we will reach
Pampas Caahuas (3500m/11,482 Ft), a National Reserve where
visitors may spot some Vicuas & Alpacas.

Unlike the Alpacas, Vicuas are wild animals, and still can be
seen running freely on these high plateaus. We will stop at this
national park and our local guide will provide information about
these shy Andean camels. Then we continue our journey to the
Colca Canyon, little further up we will stop again at the little
restaurant of Viscachani, where you can enjoy a stunning
scenery of the Andes and also drink a typical coca tea.
Afterwards we will continue ascending a dirt road till we reach
the highest point of our trip, The Lookout Point of the Andes
(4,800 m /15,748 Ft). At the very top, we will get off of the bus
some minutes to observe the landscape, having in the
background the volcanoes Ubinas, Mismi, Misti, Chachani,
Sabancaya (active) and Ampato. Later on we will drive down hill
to the main village of the Colca Canyon, the Village of Chivay
(3600 m / 11.811 Ft).
In Chivay we will start to follow a dirt road that runs parallel
with the Colca River, showing you amazing views of the Colca
Canyon. This road will lead us to the famous natural lookout
point known as the Cruz del Condor. On the way to Cruz del
Condor you will enjoy spectacular views of the canyon and will
see an array of ancient agricultural terraces carved onto the
slopes of the mountains. The people from these regions
dedicate their life solely to agriculture, therefore you will see
many fields full of crops (depending on the season you visit it),
mainly potatoes, corn and other products native from Peru.
While driving along the edge of the Colca Canyon you can
observe the great Colca River and also some small
communities. At one point we will stumble upon a strange rock,
where ancient architectures carved terraces, testing (perhaps)
which parts of the Canyon were suitable for cultivation.
In addition, you will also see mysterious hanging tombs on the
hillsides. After sometime we will reach The Cruz del Condor,
where we will spend an hour or so, observing the beautiful
Andean Condors as well as amazing views of the Canyon.
Afterwards, we will return to the village of Chivay for lunch.
Later on if you wish we can go to visit the hot springs of La
Calera. At this place you will be able to relax at the large
thermal pools located outdoor. Without doubt this hot spring is
one of the best in the whole country, as it is located within an
area where volcanoes are very active. After a relaxing bath, we
will take our private car back to Arequipa. We will be back in
Arequipa around 19:00 hrs. Upon your arrival you will be
transferred to your hotel. End of the tour.

1. PROGRAMA:

 PRIMER DA:
08.00: Recojo en el hotel y salida de Arequipa (2325 m.a.s.l).
Nos dirigimos por la carretera asfaltada hacia Yura, atravesando
Pampa de Arrieros y Pampa Caahuas, observando a las
incompatibles vicuas, llamas, alpacas y aves migratorias, para
luego llegar hacia Viscachani donde disfrutamos de un mate de
Coca, para aclimatar el cuerpo, por la altura.
Continuando con el recorrido apreciando las tocjras, lagunillas y
bofe dales y a la vez observar algunas aves migratorias como
los flamencos, Ibis. Arribando luego al punto ms alto del
trayecto Patapampa (4830 m.a.s.l), denominado tambin el
mirador de los Volcanes, ya que desde all se puede observar la
cadena Volcnica en especial: al Hualcahualca, Sabancalla y
Ampato , para luego descender al Pueblo de Chivay.(3600
m.a.s.l) Almuerzo . y Acomodacin en el Hotel.
Por la tarde Opcional: visita a los Baos Termales de la
Calera, donde permaneceremos por un lapso de dos horas
aprox. estos Baos son de aguas termos medicinales, que sobre
pasan los 40 grados C; buenas para las enfermedades
corporales.
Por la noche: disfrutaremos de una cena acompaados de una
pea Folklrica.

*La visita a La Calera solo es para aquellos pasajeros que tienen
su hotel ubicado en Chivay.
*La cena folklorica tambin es para aquellos pasajeros que

SEGUNDO DIA: CRUZ DEL CONDOR:

Por la maana (05.30): desayuno en el hotel. Para luego salir
rumbo a la Cruz del Cndor donde permaneceremos por un
lapso de 2 horas aprox. Lugar donde se puede apreciar en su
mayor dimensin la profundidad del Can del Colca y tambin
el vuelo del Cndor a corta distancia.

De retorno observaremos restos arqueolgicos, terrazas

agrcolas pre Inca y otras vistas panormicas del Can del
Colca. Pasaremos por los pueblos de Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma,
Yanque en este ltimo haremos una parada, donde podremos
observar sus Iglesias tpica, su centro artesanal, la vestimenta
tpica de sus pobladores, entre otros.
-Llegada a Chivay y Almuerzo.
-Salida con destino Arequipa, a las 17:00 hrs aprox. Llegada
Arequipa.

COLCA CANYON AND VALLEY CONVENTIONAL TOUR 2

DAYS AND 1 NIGHT
(STARTED AND FINISHED IN AREQUIPA)

1. PROGRAM:
FIRST DAY:
08.00: Pick up at the hotel and departure from Arequipa
(2325 m.a.s.l). We drove along the paved road to Yura,

through Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Caahuas, watching

incompatible vicunas, llamas, alpacas and migratory birds,
then we are going to go to Viscachani where we can enjoy a
coca tea to acclimate the body.
Continuing the journey appreciating the tocjras, bofedales
and simultaneously observe some migratory birds like
flamingos. We are going to arrive to the highest point of the
journey Patapampa (4830 msnm), also called the viewpoint of
the Volcanoes, because from there you can see the volcanic
chain: the Hualcahualca, Sabancalla and Ampato. Then we
are going to go to the town of Chivay. (3600 msnm)
Lunch and accommodation at the hotel.
In the afternoon optional: we can visit the hot springs of La
Calera, where we will stay for a period of two hours. These
baths are medicinal thermal waters good for physical
illnesses.
Evening: we enjoy dinner accompanied by a folkloric group.

SECOND DAY: CRUZ DEL CONDOR:
In the morning (05.30): breakfast at the hotel. Then we are
going to go to the Cruz del Condor where we will stay for a

the condor at a close range.
At the return we can observe archaeological remains, pre Inca
agricultural terraces and other scenic views of the Colca
Canyon. We will pass through the villages of Pinchollo, Maca,
Achoma, Yanque. Later we stop where we can observe the
typical churches, typical dress.

CAN DEL COLCA (3 DAS / 2 NOCHES)

1. DATOS GENERALES:

Altura
El distrito de Caylloma cuenta con una superficie territorial de
1499.00 km2 presenta un variado aspecto fsico.
El distrito tiene un relieve muy accidentado, presenta cadenas de
montaas que se desprenden del ramal occidental, regin meridional
de la Cordillera Shila, pampas, quebradas, etc.
Clima
El Clima del distrito de Caylloma es muy fro y seco, la temperatura
oscila entre los 21 C y 14 bajo cero, la temperatura durante el da
y la noche es muy variado, el fro se hace intenso por las noches y
madrugadas; las estaciones no son marcadas porque se diferencia
dos pocas; poca de lluvias durante los meses de diciembre a
marzo, donde las precipitaciones fluviales (lluvia, nevada, granizo)
son muy intensas, que van desde 200 a 450 mm y viene acompaado
por tempestades, relmpagos y vientos. Y la otra poca de sequa
entre los meses de abril a octubre donde las heladas son fuertes.
Tambin se aprecia intensos vientos huracanados en el mes de
agosto.
2. PROGRAMA TURISTICO:

DIA 01.- AREQUIPA - CHIVAY

- 7.30 am - Recojo de los turistas , del hotel , Salimos por la
Carretera Norte bordeando el Volcn Chachani y luego, llegamos a
Pampa Caahuas que es la Reserva Nacional de vicuas
,apreciaremos el nevado Chucura , las lagunillas de Toqra y

por las zonas aledaas a Chivay por espacio de 1 horas , luego de la
caminata se disfrutara de los baos termales de la calera

DIA 2: CHIVAY CRUZ DEL CNDOR - CHIVAY

Desayuno en el hotel, luego salimos al mirador de la Cruz del Cndor
para ver el vuelo espectacular de los cndores desde donde
observaremos tambin la profundidad del Can del Colca
permaneciendo en este lugar aproximadamente 1hora 30 min. al
retorno realizaremos una caminata desde la Cruz del Cndor hacia la
cruz del cura por espacio de 1 hora , luego visitamos los pueblitos
tradicionales de Pinchollo Yanque y Maca donde observaremos lito
maquetas Tumbas Colgantes ,anfiteatros, iglesias y terrazas .

Se realiza una caminata por Coporaque,margen derecha del caon ,
para ver las tumbas colgantes, Uyo Uyo as como la flora y fauna de

Almuerzo en chivay, para luego retornar a Arequipa por la tarde

1. GENERAL INFORMATION:

Height

Caylloma district has a land area of 1499.00 km2.

The district has a very rugged terrain, has mountain chains that emerge
from southern region of the Cordillera Shila, grasslands, streams, etc.

Weather

Caylloma district is very cold and dry, the temperature ranges between 21
C and -14 below zero, the temperature during the day and night is very
varied, the cold is intense in the evenings and early in the mornings; you
cant see the diference between seasons. There are two different seasons:

rainy season during the months of December to March, when the river
precipitation (rain, snow, hail) are very intense, accompanied by storms,
lightning and winds. And the other, dry season between the months of April
to October where frosts are strong.

2. PROGRAM:

DAY 01.- AREQUIPA - CHIVAY

- 7.30 am - Pick up at the hotel, travel by the North Highway bordering the
Chachani volcano and then through Pampa Caahuas. Pampa Caahuas is
the National Reserve of vicunas, we can appreciate the snowy Chucura, the
lagunillas Toqra and Patapampa where we can appreciate Mount Ampato,
Hualca-Hualca, and the Andes. Arrival to Chivay
- 1:00 pm - Lunch
Reception in the hotel. In the afternoon we can walk by the areas
surrounding Chivay for 1 hour. After the walk we can enjoy the Calera
thermal baths.
- 7:00 pm - Dinner
Nigth at the Folk Pea / Music Show and / or Discotheque Night
DAY 2: CHIVAY CRUZ DEL CONDOR - CHIVAY
Breakfast at hotel, trip to the viewpoint of the Cruz del Condor to see the
spectacular flight of the condors, we can appreciate the depth of the Colca
Canyon. We are going to stay in this place about 1 hour 30 min. At the
return we will walk from the Cruz del Condor to the Cruz del Cura for 1 hour.
Then we are going to visit the traditional villages of Yanque, Maca and
Pinchollo where we are going to see amphitheatres, churches and terraces.

DAY 3: RIGHT SIDE - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA

Walk through Coporaque, right side of the canyon to see the hanging tombs,
UyoUyo and the flora and fauna of the area,
Lunch in Chivay, and then return to Arequipa in the afternoon
