Week 3: Homework#3

Deadline: October 18 (Tuesday), 2016 by 5 pm (No exceptions)


Location: CEE 181A dropbox in Civil Engineering Department

Important Instructions:
1. Students must work independently.
2. It is required to complete your homework in a Word document and then print it in white
paper.
3. Type the document in Arial font with 11 font size and 1.5 spacing.
4. Any form of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated; there will be no second
chances.
5. No late submission will be accepted.
6. No electronic copy of the homework will be accepted.
7. Write down your name, student ID, course number and homework no. in header of
your document.

Question 1
Prepare

Brief"

http://www.smartbrief.com/asce). The summary describes how a selected article addresses one of


the CE/EnE student learning outcomes. During the fall quarter, you must address each of these five
Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) at least ONCE. You may expand your sources to include Civil
Engineering magazine, daily media (print or web-based), or other sources, but you must provide a
full reference and explicitly identify the SLO that you are addressing. (Total 10 points)

Select and define one term new to you relating to the Site Development Process, as used in this
weeks lecture, this week's readings, or relating to your team's Design Project. In the fall quarter,
each team member will assemble a glossary of 8-10 unique site development-related terms, which
must be incorporated in your team's final Site Planning Report. (Total 5 points)
a) Mention a term and provide a definition of that term. (4 points)

Question 3
Define the Word Entitlement, as it relates to the legal actions needed to create a development
project such as PA1. (5 points) (ONE concise paragraph is sufficient for this answer)

Question 4
Prepare a Flowchart of the overall Development Process as required by the City of Irvine. Briefly
describe each major step in the process. (10 points)
