Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the Singer/ songwriter position. Island Def Jam Music is responsible for many
extremely successful singers. To have the opportunity to be a part of this company would be
nothing short of a dream come true. I have been singing my entire life and it would be an honor to
write and sing for Def Jam Music. My 10 years of choir experience, vocal training, and 5 years of
guitar lessons will benefit this company in many ways.
I have been in choir since 2nd grade. I am involved in the performance program at School of Rock.
This program gives kids a chance to play in a band and gain performance skills. So far I have
performed in 8 shows with this program. Aside from this I have taken guitar lessons for 5 years
and have a vocal coach at School of Rock. I have learned to construct songs and deconstruct
songs to understand what makes them popular which is crucial to the songwriting process.
Working with other people has never been an issue. Collaborative assignments were always an
opportunity to understand someone elses creativity and style.
Working with this music company would be my biggest achievement. I want to dedicate the rest of
my life to music; I honestly couldnt see myself doing anything else. I am more than ready to
commit 150% to this position and dedicate all of my time and abilities to this job. I live for this
business and am prepared to do whatever it takes to be a part of Island Def Jam Music Groups.
