Seacon Adaptor P/N 7787-621.

Portable Hydraulic fluid hand pump.
Hose connected from portable hand pump to adaptor.
A rubber mallet (small).
Clean rags.
Q-tips.

The adaptor carries two o-rings, an Outer o-ring P/N 5-105 & Inner
o-ring P/N S-202. These o-rings should be replaced each time the
adaptor is used for a refill procedure.

Refill Procedure for Bottom Connector.

The Ruff Neck connector is made up into two sections a top section
and a lower or bottom section. Both sections are sealed from each
other.
Ideally the connector should be positioned vertical.
Fill the portable hand pump with the refill fluid only. A dedicated
pump should be used to refill the connector only.

Prime pump and attached hoses to remove air pockets from the hose
and pump. Collect all free fluid into a clean container for reuse if
necessary.

Refill procedure Lower Section continued..

Install adaptor on the refill port on the connector, hand tight

adaptor into position.

Connector the hose from the pump to the adaptor and tighten firmly
using a small wrench. Careful not to over tighten.

Once all connections are secure begin pumping with slow and

deliberate strokes. Stop every 20 strokes to allow the fluid to settle

and release any bubbles to the surface. Resume pumping at the
same rate until fluid is flowing from the vent port.

When fluid begins to flow from the vent port stop pumping, let the

fluid flow and look for any bubbles. If there is bubbles then apply a
few more strokes then use a rubber mallet and tap the cylinder of
the connector to releases any trapped air pockets. Leave to set for a
few minutes.

Refill procedure Lower Section continued..

The fill port and the vent port have different cap screws so pay

attention not to mix the screws.

Install new o-rings on the Vent port cap with o-rings P/N SS-202.
Clean all residue fluid from vent port before installation of vent cap.
Check and ensure that the o-ring is not showing around the vent
cap screw.

After replacement of the vent cap, continue to pump at the same

rate as previously recommended.
The level indicator will begin to raise slowly.
Stop after every 20 strokes and tap with rubber mallet. Continue
until the level indicator reached inch from max level indicator.

Clean the refill port with a clean Q-tip.

Replace the refill cap screws o-rings with new o-rings P/N 5-202.

Install cap screws and ensure that the o-ring is not showing beyond the head of the
cap.

Remove the refill cap screw and the vent screw, keep screws
separate.

Prime the pump and hose of trapped air. Collect in a clean

container.

Install adaptor into the refill port of the top section and tighten with
hand to a firm tight. Connect hose to adaptor and tighten with a
wrench to a firm tight. Over tightening of the hose and adaptor can
break the fitting.

Continue filling the connector until fluid is flowing from the vent port of the

connector.
Tap the connector housing using a rubber mallet to dislodge any trapped
air particles. Look for sign of air bubbles in the fluid coming out of the vent
port. Very little or no air bubbles in the fluid is preferred.

Clean vent port with Q-tip.

Replace the O-rings on the vent port cap screw and reinstall in the
vent port.

After replacement of the vent cap, continue to pump at the same

rate as previously recommended.
The level indicator will begin to raise slowly.
Stop after every 20 strokes and tap with rubber mallet. Continue

Faulty Connector

After several mating and de-mating of the connector the seals will begin to
deteriorate. The attached picture is an example of deteriorated seals.
