I wish to thank everyone that made the first Mashujaa Day
celebrations held outside Nairobi, in Machakos, a great success. I am grateful to both Machakos and National Government officials who tirelessly worked day and night to ensure that the function turned out to be an amazing spectacle. I congratulate the military for an exemplary display and formations and to the many groups that entertained Wananchi. Today, I hosted a special lunch to the 514 local primary school children and their 12 teachers who had a wonderful drill during Mashujaa Day. They used their bodies to draw the map of Kenya and words such as MASHUJAA and GOD BLESS. I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and our First Lady Margaret together with our Deputy President William Ruto and Mrs. Ruto for their wonderful advice and participation. I thank my brother and Makueni County Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana for joining us during the celebrations. It is a pity I was not aware he was present when I was addressing wananchi because it would have been wonderful to have had him say a few words. I was only aware of his presence after my speech and I wrote a note to D.P. Ruto to duly recognize his presence. The success of Mashujaa Day shows that by working together, it is possible to achieve greatness in our beautiful homeland of Kenya. Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya.
