Install & setup


The files included with your voice pack contain a setup installer, the Speak With Orion
script as well as links to help and resources. It may also contain errors :) We will correct
those and any issues with key press changes from CIG when we can.
The prerequisites for the using Orion (all voice packs):
Elite Dangerous for PC only and a registered version of Voice Attack software, both of
which must be installed. Note! The voice pack will not work with a trial version
of Voice Attack so please register the full version. Microsoft Windows 10 is the chosen
platform. US & UK versions of Win7/8 will also work providing voice recognition is
available (Win 7 pro including language support for voice recognition is recommended for
Voice Attack software is available here www.voiceattack.com

If you already have Voice Attack software and have trained Microsoft Speech Recognition
skip to step 4.

Plug in your microphone, then, in Windows desktop in the search box on the task bar, type Speech

Recognition, then select Windows Speech Recognition. After you complete this process your PC will be set

up to recognise your voice.

Download the latest version of Voice Attack, install to default path and run the program.
3.
Register Voice Attack - Click the options/spanner icon and enter your registration code for the Voice Attack

software. Only the fully registered version of Voice Attack will support the voice packs.
4.
Run the Voice Pack Orion setup.exe and install the Orion voice pack using only the installers default
path.
5.
Once the pack setup is complete, start Voice Attack and click Import profile, then browse to

C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Sounds\hcspack-ORION\Profiles and import the Orion Profile and then

click done. Other add on profiles are also available in the themes directory.
6.
Follow the guide on the next page to Speak with Orion Its a good starting point to a) Test the

voice recognition and b) To get to know the character Orion.
7.
Next, set up the the keybindings, which will have to be set up in game controls

(5minutes), theres a link to the video Keybindings included with the pack.
8.
Youre good to go! It takes a little while to familiarise yourself with some of the commands, so


make sure you thoroughly test them in game before heading off into the unknown.

The character Orion is from a story which wil be titled
The Quantum Neural Network and published as a book sometime
2017. The voice pack contains elements of the story, some of which
are included within the voice pack.
Orion is a character from the story. Orion believes that his
origins, and those of his kind, lie outside of the known universe.

Introduction
Welcome Commander! The command manual contains many of the more commonly
used commands for use with the HCS Voice Pack collection. Most of what you will see in
this manual will cover everything from your thruster controls right through to targeting.
Each command listed will have a brief explanation of what it will do, and you will also find
some other useful tips too.

Theres more than one way to ask your virtual assistant to do


much of what we have listed, however, this is a great starting point for you and your new virtual assistant to get things
running.
Youll also find some useful information about where you can view the voice packs in
action, on various Twitch streams and YouTube. And other vital information on how
to use the Interaction Mode which some of the voice packs have, which will allow
your virtual assistant to speak to you at random times.

Taking off, landing & requesting permission to dock.


Departure handover.
You can then execute this command. This will then raise the ship to 30 metres
and retract the landing gear.
Retract landing gear. This will raise the ships landing modules.
Deploy landing gear. This will deploy the ships landing modules.
Select nearest landing pad. This will select the closest landing pad available
Request docking. If you have selected a landing zone, and youre close enough (500
metres), a request to dock will execute, the authority will then confirm permission to dock
with a landing pad allocation.
Automatic landing. This will execute the automated landing providing your landing gear is deployed.
Cancel automatic landing. This will cancel the automated landing.

Flight & jump commands


Flight assist off. You can also use decouple - Thrusters for Newtons laws of motion.
Flight assist on. You can also use couple - Thrusters for assisted flight.
Stop engines. Zero the throttle. Forward motion also zerod.
Maximum speed. You can also use Maximum throttle - Sets throttle to 100%
Match target speed. Identifies the speed of your target and matches that speed.
Show destinations. Displays the destinations in the system (required for engage
jump drive)
Engage jump drive. Executes quantum travel to your designated destination
provided you are flying towards the destinations target.
Cycle flight modes. This will cycle through precision, SCM & cruise flight modes,
dependent on the current velocity of the ship.
Cycle safeties. This will cycle through your G-Safe & COMSTAB.

Balance shields. Shield power is equally distributed.

Weapons, targeting, countermeasures & radar


Next Target / hostile. Selects next hostile target.
Previous target / hostile. Selects previous hostile target.
Target nearest threat. Selects nearest threat.
Pin target. Pins target collectively with other targets.
Cycle pinned target. This will cycle through pinned targets.
Focus target. This enables the dynamic zoom in on target.
Focus reticule. This enables the dynamic zoom on your reticule / crosshair.
Lock missile. Locks missile(s) to target.
Missile away. launches missile(s) toward locked target.
Launch countermeasure(s). This will launch your selected chaff or flare.
Switch countermeasure(s). Cycles through countermeasures.
Launch decoy. This will deploy both chaff and flare countermeasures.
Dump countermeasures. Launches 3 x 4 countermeasures.

Weapons, targeting, countermeasures & radar


Lock gimballs. Locks your gimballed weapons in a forward position.
Unlock gimaballs. Unlocks gimballed weapons.
Zoom in. Focuses in close to objective.
Zoom out. Focuses to normal view.
Cycle radar. Cycles through sensor range.

Miscellaneous
Relative mode. Changes your flight mechanic for mouse use.
Mouse mode. Changes from relative mode back to normal.
Lights on. Turns the headlights on.
Lights off. Turns the headlights off.
Orion online. Enables hotkeys, joystick and voice attack listening mode.
Orion offline. Disables hotkeys, joystick and voice attack listening mode.
Cycle camera. Cycles through different perspective for 1st and 3rd person view.

Show contacts. Shows your friends list.
Close contacts. Closes your friends list.
Open comms. Opens chat box for typing messages.
Close comms. Closes chat box for typing messages.

Hud
Display overview. Displays the ships stats.
Display power. Displays the power distribution.
Display shields. Displays the shields distribution levels.
Display weapons. Displays weapons groups and configuration.
Cycle HUD forward. Cycles the HUD display forward.
Cycle HUD back. Cycles the HUD display back.
Open MobiGlas. Opens and displays overlay.
Close MobiGlas. Closes overlay.

Educational facts.
The Orion Nebula Expedition The expedition is designed to take you on a journey to learn about space, the nebulae
and the constellations. An epic adventure....use the commands on the right to start the
tour.
Orion will assist you during the expedition - reciting known facts about the nebulae,
introducing you to points of interest and explaining information about the galaxy,
planets and other scientifics facts.
Orion will be accompanied by Verity - He will often consult her knowledge base, and
have her dictate factual information during the expedition.
Here are some examples of statements you can use:
Constellation Aquarius. (all 88 constellations are in the pack)
What is a black hole?
What is an event horizon?
Use the terms to ask questions about space, the constellations and much more.

Interaction mode & character extras


Some of the virtual assistants have Interaction mode as well
as additional profiles. With Interaction mode on , the virtual
assistant will randomly speak out, ask a question, or invoke a
game of I spy. This mode is in selected packs only.

Interaction mode on. Starts the randomised response mode


Interaction mode off. Stops the randomised response mode.
Inside some of the packs there are also conversational scripts,
so you can get to know the character background traits. They
contain questions for the virtual assistant - they can be anything
from Why are you here to What is the meaning of life.
These are in selected packs only.

Keyboard mode on. Enables typing, without sounds playing back.


Keyboard mode off. Enables sounds to key presses.
Voice control off. Stops the randomised response mode.

Voice Control has to be turned back
