In chapter 2, I have learn about the learning of requirements to work in head start or

even public schools. I also have learn about the diversity of the field, historical influences, and
beliefs about childrens learning. What kind of training do you have to go through to work at the
school or at head start and what kind of training do you have to go through and how long do you
have to train or where to continue to train.

The diversity of the fields is the first influences of the professional positions of the ECE
to characterize the fields. It has the program that serves young children to different age groups,
including infants and toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten, and primary-age. The pioneers of the
ECE was not interested in the movement to establish womens rights, their focus was on the
women in promoting culture and morality and as advocates and custodians of young children.
Societal beliefs about nature of children learning has had a impact on the status of the field of
ECE. Ideas, public support for early childhood programs were lacking, and those who worked
with children were shown little regard.
Most states do not require teachers to have their training and their education to work in
the early childhood education to teach to children under the age of 5 years old. So teachers can
work at a development or at head starts in most states. To work as a teacher in the public
school the teacher must have a bachelors degree with specialized training in education and
have training to help children with special needs. Students who want to work in head start can
either have no degree or a two year degree at a university or community college. A student that
wants to work from kindergarten to sixth grades must enter a four year program to get the
education and special training.
There are three scenarios for the future directions of the field to help students who want
to further their education in early childhood. Seek professional status using the model of
established professions, create a new definitions of professions based on the ethic of care, and
continue to make incremental progress. If ECE were to follow the path of appropriate national
organizations like law, medicine, engineering, and architecture; they will need to make the case
that ECE has unique knowledge and the skills that warrant its recognitions as a professions.
ECE has created a new model of profession shaped by womens value and ways of interacting
with each other and with children and families. The last scenario is the future of the field of early
childhood education will continue to make progress in many of different ways of learning what a
child does and how they will progress.

How I will connect to my life and work when working with children is helping children
learn better even if I dont have an education from going to school. I could go to my old school
and go and volunteer for both preschool or kindergarten teachers and children to help the
children or myself with learning about the children progress and also how they learn to use their
motor skills, be social with other children, sharing their emotions with us teachers, and showing
how much intellectual they have and creativeness they have also.
I would also connect this with my education from what I learn from this chapter is to keep
continuing my education even when I do have my degree because I want to be able to learn
more information and be able to use it. When working or volunteering at a school or
development center I want to be able to learn more on how children grow up and how quick they
can with learning how they progress and how they use their development when growing and
aging each year.
Another way I would connect this to my life and work is look more into the history of early
childhood education and how it all began so I can understand the importance of teaching the
children to use their motor skills, emotions, being social, and using their creativeness so they
use their imagination. I would also continue my education even if I move to a different state and
dont have to have it so I can learn new things and be able to spend more time with children and
make my experience more fun and relaxing.
How I will revisit this information is looking back and seeing how most states teachers
dont have to have their education or training to be able to work at a head start and development
center to work with young children. I feel like that no matter what teacher who want to work at a
head start or development center should have at least their education or their training to be able
to make sure the children are getting the right education or are making sure they know how to
use their development but not push them so that the children dont feel pressure to make sure
they are normal and are ok with taking their time with using their development.

I would also revisit on the diversity of the field, the historical influences, and the beliefs of
childrens learning. I would look at the historical influences of ECE to learn more about the
history of the early childhood education and how it all started so I can learn more about and how
it influences many teachers to work with young children and why it influences the teachers to
work with young children.
