Doctors without Borders

is an international humanitarian-aid non-governmental organization (NGO) and
Nobel Peace Prize laureate, best known for its projects in war-torn regions and
developing countries facing endemic diseases. It was founded in France in response
to the Biafran War. The organization is known in most of the world by its localized
name or simply as MSF; in Canada and the United States the name Doctors Without
Borders is commonly used.

YWCA/YMCA
YMCA is a worldwide organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, with more than 57
million beneficiaries from 125 national associations. It was founded on 6 June 1844
by George Williams in London and aims to put Christian principles into practice by
developing a healthy "body, mind, and spirit". These three angles are reflected by the
different sides of the (red) trianglepart of all YMCA logos.
YWCA is a global movement working for the empowerment, leadership and rights of
women, young women and girls in more than 120 countries. The members and
supporters include women from many different faiths, ages, backgrounds, beliefs and
cultures. Their common goal is that by 2035, 100 million young women and girls will

transform power structures to create justice, gender equality and a world without
violence and war; leading a sustainable YWCA movement, inclusive of all women.

Citizens For Local Democracy (C4LD)

is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the promotion of good
governance, citizen participation and cooperation between local authorities and
civil society. Young- Youth Organisations Unified For New Generations: The aim
of this project is to strengthen the role of civil society in promoting democratic
reform through the role of the Youth Council of the City of Mostar. A new Youth
Council (YC) has been registered and consists of a network of local
non-governmental, non-profit, apolitical youth NGOs that work with the youth and
for the youth.

CAVEAT (Canadians Against Violence)

was a Canadian lobby group which existed from 1991 to May 10, 2001, based in
Burlington, Ontario. The organization agitated for a number of changes in government
policy, particularly in promotion of tough-on-crime legislation and increased gun
control. It was founded by Priscilla de Villiers in 1991, after her daughter Nina was
murdered.

 Street Kids International

is a Canadian-based non-governmental organization founded by Peter Dalglish and
Frank O'Dea in 1988. The organization focuses on providing street youth with the
opportunity to lead safer and better lives through three main programme avenues:
street health, street work and street rights. In 2008, Street Kids International expanded
its operations to the United Kingdom with Street Kids International UK.

National Association for the Advancement of

Colored People (NAACP)
is an African-American civil rights organization in the United States, formed in 1909 by
Moorfield Storey, Mary White Ovington and W. E. B. Du Bois. Its mission is "to ensure
the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to
eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination". The group enlarged its mission in
the late 20th century by considering issues such as police misconduct, the status of
black foreign refugees, and questions of economic development. Its name, retained in
accordance with tradition, uses the once common term colored people.

Oxfam
is an international confederation of charitable organizations focused on the alleviation
of global poverty. Oxfam was originally founded at 17 Broad Street in Oxford,
Oxfordshire, in 1942 as the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief by a group of
Quakers, social activists, and Oxford academics; this is now Oxfam Great Britain, still
based in Oxford. It was one of several local committees formed in support of the
National Famine Relief Committee. Their mission was to persuade the British
government to allow food relief through the Allied blockade for the starving citizens of
occupied Greece. The first overseas Oxfam was founded in Canada in 1963. The
organization changed its name to its telegraph address, OXFAM, in 1965.

 International Pen
is a worldwide association of writers, founded in London in 1921 to promote
friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere. The association
has autonomous International PEN centers in over 100 countries. Other goals
included: to emphasise the role of literature in the development of mutual
understanding and world culture; to fight for freedom of expression; and to act as a
powerful voice on behalf of writers harassed, imprisoned and sometimes killed for
their views. It is the world's oldest human rights organization and the oldest
