Bernie Sanders is very left wing, because he believes in democratic socialism.

This is shown because he wants single payer Medicare for everyone. Affordability of
college is another platform of which shows that Sanders is very left wing. Sanders also
wants to increase benefits and bolster solvency for Social Security, in order to help
people who may not be getting enough help. The infrastructure program, in which the
United States would rebuild railroads, bridges and airports is another platform that shows
that Sanders is very left wing, because it would help the general public with better
transportation, education and housing.
Bernard Bernie Sanders was born in Brooklyn, New York. His mother Dorothy,
graduated from high school in New York City. His father Immigrated to the United States
from Poland at the age of 17, and he did not have much of an education or money. Bernie
Sanders, has a brother named Larry. Sanders, went to and graduated from University of
Chicago and Brooklyn University. Sander was a Congress of Racial Equality (CORE)
officer in the 1960s. In the 1980s Sanders won the race for mayor of Burlington, Vermont
as an independent official. Bernie was re-elected to a second term as mayor in 1983. In
1990 Sanders won the position of Vermonts sole congressman. In the 2000s, Sanders
passed an Amendment in the House of Reps to stop the government from obtaining
library and book- buying records on Americans, and he also defeated Vermonts richest
man to be elected to the U.S. Senate. In the 2010s, Sanders became the chairman of the
Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, took over as a ranking member of the Senate Budget
Committee and declared his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President of
the U.S.

Bernie Sanders is running for office because he wants to start a movement in

politics, a so called political revolution. Sanders wants to reduce income and wealth
inequality by demanding the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, increasing the federal
minimum wage to $15 an hour and creating a universal prekindergarten and childcare
program. Sanders also wants to make college tuition free and debt free. He wants to
restore democracy, combat climate change and create a fair and humane policy for
immigration. Sanders also wants equality for all races, for the LGBT community and
women.
Sanders is currently serving his second term in the U.S. Senate. The Senate is a
branch of government that protects minority rights, promotes compromises, and advises.
Sanders has also been elected mayor of Vermont, after defeating a mayor that had 6
terms. This shows that Sanders has been in positions of power before, and has to have
been responsible for peoples wellbeing. Bernie Sanders also was a ranking member of
the Senate Budget Committee. This is important because federal spending is a big deal in
modern day society,
Bernie Sanders wants to help families economically. For example, Sanders says
he will create jobs that set minimum wage as a wage that people could live off of. He has
proposed a national minimum wage of $15 per hour. Sanders also wants to create new
jobs. He claims he will do this by producing an act called The Rebuild America Act,
which would invest $5 billion a year in order to expand high-speed broadband networks
in under-served and unserved areas. Sanders not only wants to help the U.S.
economically, but socially as well. Sanders wants to create a fair and humane

immigration. This policy would allow immigrants to buy health coverage, unify broken
immigrant families and dismantle inhumane deportation programs and private detention
centers while ensuring the border remains secure and protecting local communities.
Another social stance Sanders has is the equality for the LGBT community. As President
of the U.S. Sanders says he would sign into the Equality Act and the Every Child
Deserves a Family Act to prevent discrimination of the LGBT community. Sanders also
says he will work with health insurance companies to prevent discrimination. Bernie
Sanders wants to end the rate of suicide and bullying by advancing policies.
