Before entering first grade, students must be able to count and spell.
This lesson will allow students to identify the letter of the alphabet
and begin math by being able to count basic numbers. After this
lesson, the students will be able to sing the alphabet and count to ten
without assistance.

2. Slowly state the alphabet and show a picture of each letter
3. Sing the ABCs to the children
4. Ask the children to sing the ABCs with you
5. After the ABCs are mastered, begin counting one through ten
while using your fingers to identify each number
6. Ask the children to count one through ten with their fingers
along with you
Observe the child participating in the project you taught them and
whether or not they may be able to achieve the assignment without
your assistance
