What do we want to learn from the workshop?

1.The most important thing is to learn how to create the curriculum, according to our
national curriculum, since we have to incoorporate the IB programme into our
national curriculum. We are very much trained to create our national curriculum ,but
to plan and create IB PYP curriculum, weekly and daily planning is something new for
us.

global awareness,an educational system that will contribute and develop a better
world, through communication and collaboration among IB community.

As a summary of the text of GeorgeWalker, past, present and future, one can say
that given the fact that our country is multi-ethnic and live with people of different
nationalities I agree with the position that has the same writer and till now and will
continue to do so.
Summary of the article by George Walker
When we think of a globalized world as educators we should think of the implications: diversity,
complexity, sustainability and inequality.
DIVERSITY - in present times we become more and more aware of human diversity and a need
for it to be addressed has risen.

COMPLEXITY- As well as becoming more diverse, life is also becoming more complex: more
information becomes cheaply and readily accessible;
That is why the IB programmes encourage students to acquire critical-thinking skills from the
earliest age and to apply them to a range of international issues, to learn the skills of negotiation
and to understand that flexibility and compromise are essential qualities in a globalized world.
SUSTAINABILITY-everyone is aware that the planets capacity to sustain life is being put at
serious risk. That is why the IB programmes insist on the study of science. Climate change is a
global issue that requires international cooperation, which IB students are well prepared to
exercise, as well as a philosophy of lifelong learning that develops responsible, caring and
contributing citizens, capable of bringing about change.
INEQUALITY- nowadays, the inequality gap between and within countries is growing wider and
what the world needs is social entrepreneurs who, as Thomas Friedman says, combine a
business school brain with a social workers heart.
According to the IB mission statement, its programmes encourage students across the world to
become active, compassionate and lifelong learners. This statement brings together
knowledge, concern and actionthree qualities that lie at the heart of the IB experience and at
the heart of a solution to the worlds dangerous inequalities.

The Importance of the inquiry in the curriculum
*
There is a connection between the curriculum and the inquiry ,and we got an
explanation about the importance of the inquiry in the teaching and learning
process. The article also says through so many examples and teacher experience
how inquiry is essential, whereas we got it as a perspective to think about and to
implement in our teaching.Another thing is that both the workshop and the article
points out the mutual teacher`s and students responsibility in learning, whereas the
teacher has very important role in setting the structure which supports the inquiry.

*
Also the international open minded student is able, encouraged and motivated to explore about
other people, other cultures, the world situations. This is very close relation between the
inquiry, learning and creating an international profile of student.
The traffic light:
-I will stop repeating myself over and over again when trying to explain things to students,
- I`ll keep planing,and using good practices
-I`ll incorporate inquiry into my planning

Homework
Inquiry, Curriculum and Standards
Kathy Shorts opinions are closely connected to todays teaching and learning cycle, and
reflect on what we are trying to achieve. The curriculum is tightly connected to the

inquiry. Inquiry is exploring life, solving every days problems. Through the inquiry we
develop new notions and more questions arise. In this way lifelong learning is promoted and
the students are being prepared for confronting life outside the classroom.
Teachers are facilitators; they set up structures that support the inquiry and offer
perspectives which students are not considering and also they continually monitor
activities. In order to help students conduct an inquiry and become successful critical
thinkers and internationally-minded lifelong learners, teachers should be inquirers
themselves in their professional lives.
The traffic light
I will stop trying to explain things to students and let them try to find the answers
themselves
I will keep on answering questions with the question What do you think?
I will start using inquiry into my planning
