Nowadays, we can see people ride a motorcycle everywhere. Not only adults,
many students also ride motorcycles to go to their school. Even, in Mondays to
Saturdays, we will see students ride motorcycles more than adults. It is good for
students to ride a motorcycle. However, In this case there is a controversy about
benefits and risk of riding motorcycles by students.
Students, who ride a motorcycle, will get their school faster and save their
money. As a reason, in the morning, students take less time by riding a
motorcycle than take public transportation to go to their school. Therefore, it can
avoid them to come late to their school. Besides, Ride a motorcycle to school
cost cheaper than using a public transportation. As a reason, a liter of gasoline
(Rp.6500.-), a motorcycle can go for 50-60 KMs, while by using a public
transportation, they cost Rp.3000.- for going for about 20 KMs only or less. Ride
a motorcycle for students helps them to come on time to their school and cost
cheaper.
Despite of those benefits of students ride a motorcycle to their school, they also
have a big risk for accidents.. Based on police traffic data, at least thirty percent
of traffic accidents happened until June 2013 are caused by student riders. The
leading cause of this is most of students cannot control their emotion. As a
reason, people aged twelve to seventeen years have labile emotion so that when
they look their friends ride a motorcycle in high speed, or invite making an illegal
race, they automatically will do it too without think it over. Another, some of
student riders perhaps do not really know and understand about traffic rules. As
a result, there will be many students ride a motorcycle without wearing a helmet,
no rear mirrors in their motorcycle, and do not turn on the motorcycles light. In
conclusion, if student riders cannot control their emotion, and ignore traffic rules,
they may have a chance to have an accident.
Riding a motorcycle for students to reach their school certainly has advantages
and also dangers. Because of its advantages, I really agree if students ride a
motorcycle to go to school. However, it will be very good if a student has already
known well about traffic rules before they ride a motorcycle and be able to
control their emotion in order to avoid them to a traffic accident.

Motorcycle for students , yes or no ?

As the mean of transportation, motorcycle has got the first rank for recent time.
It is used in all activities in public transportation. The students of high school
have done as any others do, they bring the motor to their school. But do we
know the effect of it ?
Bringing or riding the motor to the school can help the students reducing the
time in waiting the vehicles to the school. Like waiting the bus or taxi. Its easy
to get the school on time.
On the other hand, when we meet one who bring the motorcycle and he rides
roughly. The rider also do illegal racing. It will endanger and also disturb the
other street users. And who is he ? yeahh.. One who wears school uniform; the
student. There will be a lot of traffic accidents then.
We recommend that students who do not have a licence of riding should not
bring the motorcycle to the school. They should have it first. Because they
should know the traffic signs before they ride the motor.

Students in Indonesia mostly almost 80 % wear wheeled vehicle 2 or 4 wheel [u2] s .Both among junior high school that
makes it concerns either the school or the community because the students / student -wheeler vehicles mostly use 2 or
4 wheels. While their average is still below the age of 17 years.[u3]
