Rational
Through the study of mime the student can develop a better understanding of their own
body and how to use it as a means of communication. (Goal 1 and 2) Through studying the
discipline the student has the opportunity to develop a new, physical approach to creative
thinking and to understand the discipline as an art form. (Goal 3) Through exploration and
performance of mime the student can enhance, experience and receive feedback on their ability
to communicate through body language efficiently.
Unit Objective
The mime unit is structure to scaffold to the Creation and Performance of a comic solo
piece with an appropriate title. In order to accomplish this task, the students will need to have
experience with the basics of mime, both through practice and visually dissecting professional
performances, an understanding of the breakdown of a mime performance and its elements, and
how to create a scene from various sources of inspiration.
Skill Breakdown:
Basics of Mime
