Interview with Captain Darwin Fernandez

What is the Population of the adults in your community? How about the youth?
The Population of Brgy. Barangka Drive is 13, 700.
The Population of the Barangay has more Adults than the
youth. Youth is the primary contributory of the conflicts and
problem occurring here in barangay. But for the solution,
the adults have a great involvement resolving and
undertaking to the youths disobedience and misbehaviour.
How does the adult affect the environment? How about
the youth?
Each has a big effect to the environment especially to the
community. First, on the contribution for the Barangay fund
that we are using for the development and maintenance of
barangay the adult gives the highest input. Why? Adults
are Tax payers, mostly parents are the one who buys good
in the market. Adults are those who are working and
earning. It is the source of fund of barangay that we are using for the operations, development and the
maintenance of the barangay. For me the youth today are mostly liabilities. Only few are those who strive
and give contribution to the community. But I believe that there will be a time if these youth will be cultivated
and imbued to knowledge and information these youth will soon become an asset of the community.
In the Environment, I think its improper to use the term Youth and adults as contributory parties. I guess we
should use the Impressed and Depressed place here in barangay. Of Course we have depressed place
here in Brgy. Barangka Drive where residents have no proper awareness in the environment, the right and
appropriate waste disposal. Few of them dont have comfort rooms resulting to water contamination and
unpleasant ambiance and feeling. So the barangay holds occasional seminar regarding education for the
maintenance of to the community and the environment.
Do you have any ordinances in the increasing population of your barangay?
Honestly we dont have. For us, Increasing Population in barangay is a good sign. Because we believe that
the more people the more fund for the barangay, more people to serve and more people to help.
How do you handle environment phenomena or environment natural destruction like flood,
earthquakes?
We give Proper training and information. We are conducting drills in schools and barangay for the inevitable
destruction like fire prevention and earthquake drills. I am thankful that we are not flood-prone area that
making us at eases every typhoon.
