Manslaughter has been sentence

KUALA LUMPUR: Direct-selling agent Azmi Azizan has been sentenced 10 years
jail on a manslaughter charge by Justice S.Augustine Paul the judge for this case.
He admitted to the charge and pleaded guilty to committing the murder at a
house in No.5, second floor, Jalan 3/108c, Taman Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur on
April 6 last year at about 12.30pm. The judge ordered the sentences to begin
from the date of arrest on April 17 last year.
During mitigation, counsel T.Suresh told the court that his client had repented
and the accused had time to think things over while the day since he in remand.
Counsel also urged the court to not consider Azmis previous theft conviction as
it was a different offence.
The prosecution Azhar Abdul Hamid however urged the court to consider all the
facts and sentences Azmi accordingly.
According to police investigations, Azmi became acquainted with Fun at a disco.
Fun had given Azmi numerous gifts and contributions throughout their
acquaintance.
On April 6 last year, the two men meet at a disco. They later headed back to
Funs house. During a struggle at the house, Fun tried to sodomise Azmi.
Azmi tried to defended himself and reacted by reaching for a knife nearby and
stabbed Fun. Azmi, then took Funs wallet containing cash and credit card as well
as the deceaseds car.
Azmi threw the knife into a river and later sold the car. Azmi had also used
deceaseds credit cards to buy several items.
On April 10 last year, Funs neighbour on the first floor smelled something foul
from the floor above then informed the apartment management and the police.

Perlis: Seorang lelaki maut dihempap sebatang pokok rumbia di Kampung Banat,
Arau petang semalam kira-kira jam 2.30 petang.
Mangsa merupakan seorang pekerja kontrak sedang membersihkan kawasan
kebun berhampiran kediaman adiknya.
Mangsa Razali Kamis, 47, dijumpai mati di tempat kejadian oleh adik iparnya,
Mariah Mat Arrifin, 40, apabila melihat tangan manusia terjulur keluar dari bawah
batang rumbia. Adik iparnya mencari mangsa yang disedari hilang kira-kira jam
5.30 petang.
Mayatnya dijumpai selepas hampir 3 jam terbenam di dalam tanah dalam
keadaan tertiarap dan mangsa juga cedera parah seluruh anggota badan akibat
dihempap batang pokok sebesar kira-kira dua pemeluk orang dewasa itu.

A baby saved in car crash

Johor: Last night, an accident occurred at 8.30pm along the North-South


Expressway near Tangkak. A family from Singapore was heading north when their
seven-seater vehicle lost control at the 150 kilometer of the expressway.
In the car were- a grandmother, Pang Chee Seng, 68, a mother, Kor Yee Lin, 36, a
brother, Justin Bong, 2, a father, Bong Kwang Hong, 37 and a two-month-old
baby girl, Jolene Bong. A baby saved in car crash and the rest of her family were
killed in the accident.
The vehicle driven by Bong smashed up two trees beside the expressway.
Eyewitnesses said the baby was flung out about 10m out of the vehicle. Police
found the international passports of the victims, including Jolenes but no
address was stated in the documents.
Inspector Karmila Mohd Nasir from Muar traffic police rushed to investigate and
sent the dead to the Tangkak Hospital mortuary. She tried to call the victims
friends from a mobile phone found at the scene but experienced difficulty getting
through.
Muar police urged those who witnessed the accident to come forward to help in
investigations.
