Retail design is increasingly directed

towards building relationships, between

client and brand, substituting a relaxed,
browsing environemnt for hard selling.

Direct interaction allows the customer to

become more involved and develop a
relationship with the product, what
8 Adrono, termed the ‘Mimetic Impulse’ or
the ‘creative engagement with an object’

‘Mimetic’ identification does not happen

instantly or automatically, but is
engendered gradually.
7
This proposal exploits this ‘impulse’ by
creating a series of multi-layered,
installations, that allows first hand
involvement with the product

Ground floor plan

The aesthetic of the main retail
display area, is based on the notion
of the ‘view from within’ the
technology. The is defined by
materiality and form.

The outer layers of the main display

area; the acrylic fins, walls and
ceiling, are clad in a variety of
synthetic materials, signifying the
skin of the product while the space
created within, is the mechanistic
aspect of the product, represented
by steel and timber and a low-tech
interactive display.
