deliver the package is by dropping it. The airplane flies horizontally with constant speed
of 392 km/hour at an altitude of 925 m . The positive x and y directions are defined in the
figure. For all parts, assume that the "island" refers to the point at a distance D from the

point at which the package is released, as shown in the figure. Ignore the height of this
point above sea level. Assume that the acceleration due to gravity is g = 9.80 m/s2 .

A woman rides on a Ferris wheel of radius 16m that maintains the same speed throughout
its motion. To better understand physics, she takes along a digital bathroom scale (with

A ball of mass m = 1.4 kg at the end of a thin cord of length r = 0.70 m revolves in a
vertical circle about point O, as shown in the figure(Figure 1) . During the time we
observe it, the only forces acting on the ball are gravity and the tension in the cord. The
motion is circular but not uniform because of the force of gravity. The ball increases in
speed as it descends and decelerates as it rises on the other side of the circle. At the
