1. PRESIDENT RULE IMPOSED IN UTTARAKHAND: President's Rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand before the crucial trust vote in the
state assembly for the Harish Rawat government. President rule is imposed in Uttarakhand after the constitutional breakdown. President
Pranab Mukherjee imposed emergency under Article 356 of the Constitution.
2. RBI ISSUED REVISED FRAMEWORK FOR REVIVAL AND REHABILITATION OF MSMES: The Reserve Bank of India issued revised
Framework for Revival and Rehabilitation of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises. The Framework has to be put in place by the banks
before 30 June 2016. It shall be applicable to MSMEs having loan limits up to 25 crore rupees including accounts under consortium or
multiple banking arrangement. In order to have faster resolution of stress in an MSME account, every bank shall form Committees for
Stressed MSMEs.
3. UNION CABINET APPROVED MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND UAE TO MOBILISE LONG TERM INVESTMENT INTO NIIF: The Union Cabinet
gave its ex-post facto approval for a MoU between India and the United Arab Emirates to mobilise long term investment into the National
Investment and Infrastructure Fund. It is signed to maximize economic impact mainly through infrastructure development in commercially
viable projects in India. It will facilitate establishment of a transparent and high-level framework and collaboration platform for smooth flow
of investments for this purpose. National Investment and Infrastructure Fund was approved by the Union Cabinet in last year to fund new
and rejuvenate stressed projects.
4. BIHAR GOVERNMENT PARTIALLY BANS SALE OF COUNTRY-MADE AND SPICED LIQUOR: Bihar Government has banned the sale of
country-made liquor and spiced liquor throughout the state in the first phase. Person found indulging in manufacturing trade,
transportation, sale and consumption of country-made and spiced liquor across the state will be punished.
5. ARVIND KEJRIWAL NAMED AMONG WORLD'S 50 GREATEST LEADERS BY FORTUNE MAGAZINE: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
has been named among the world's 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine. He is sole leader from India in the list and has been placed at
42nd position. The list has been topped by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Top 5 persons in the list are Jeff Bezos, Angela Merkel, Aung San Suu
Kyi , Pope Francis and Tim Cook.
6. ANDHRA PRADESH GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES COUNTRY'S FIRST LIFT IRRIGATION PROJECT: Andhra Pradesh government
inaugurated India's first river linking project Pattiseema lift irrigation project connecting Godavari River with Krishna River. The project has
been completed in a record time of one year by the Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited. It has the capactiy to
lift 80 tmc (trillion metric cubic feet) of flood water from Godavari River in a span of 110 days during the flooding season between July and
October.
7. BHEL COMMISSIONED 600 MW JAIPUR THERMAL POWER PLANT IN TELANGANA: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited announced
commission of a 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Telangana. The 1200 MW Jaipur Power Plant is being developed by Singareni
Collieries Company Limited. Earlier in December 2015 the 600 MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant Stage was commissioned at
Bhoopalapally in Warangal district.
8. SURYA DEVA APPOINTED AS UN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER: law professor Surya Deva has been appointed as an adviser on
human rights and multinationals and businesses by the UN Human Rights Council. He will be a member of the 4 member working group on
the issue of human rights, transnational corporations and other business enterprises. The organisation contributes to the development of
international human rights standards.
9. HOCKEY INDIA ANNUAL AWARDS ANNOUNCED: Deepika and PR Sreejesh has won the Dhruv Batra Player of the Year Award for Women
and Men at the Hockey India Annual Awards. Late Captain Shankar Laxman has been honoured with the Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime
Achievement Award.

11. UNION GOVERNMENT RELEASES SELF-REGULATION CODE OF ETHICAL BUSINESS CONDUCT FOR INDUSTRY: The Union Consumer
Affairs Ministry has released a self regulation Code of ethical business conduct to be adopted by the Industry on providing best products
and services. The code contains provision of trustworthy products and services for the consumers, comply with the competition and antitrust laws and respond to consumer complaints promptly. It covers six principles to be adopted by the industry: i) Safety of products and
services ii) Building sustainable supply chains iii) Marketing products ethically iv) Non-indulgence in unfair trade practices v) Complying
with competition and anti-trust laws vi) Prompt response to consumer complaints.
12. ANDHRA GOVT SET TO INAUGURATE COUNTRY'S FIRST LIFT IRRIGATION PROJECT: Andhra Pradesh government has become the first
Indian state to implement lift irrigation. Andhra Pradesh government is going to inaugurate Pattiseema lift irrigation project. The first river

linking project in country connecting Godavari with Krishna river. The project was designed to lift 80 trillion metric cubic feet of flood water
in a span of 110 days during the flooding season between July and October from Godavari.
13. FEDERAL BANK TO OPEN STARTUP INCUBATION CENTRES: Federal Bank is going to open an incubation centers for startups in
Bangalore and Ernakulam. These branches will offer advice on capital, regulatory support and even disburse funds for Startups. These
centres are named as Launchpad and are equipped with fast internet connections, support staff from the financial world and advisory
mechanisms. These centres would be the perfect for future entrepreneurs because they will be equipped with bank executives capable of
dealing with the financial requirements of start-ups.
14. HARYANA CABINET HAS APPROVED JAT RESERVATION BILL: The Haryana cabinet today approved the Jat reservation bill. The bill is
passed after the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti threatened to resume the agitation if its demands are not met by the end of
this month. The Haryana cabinet today cleared the bill that proposes to provide reservation to five communities, including Jat, Jat Sikh,
Tyagi, Bishnoi and Ror.
15. PADMA AWARD ANNOUNCED BY THE PRESIDENT PRANAB MUKHERJEE: President Pranab Mukherjee has presented five Padma
Vibhushan awards at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Padma Vibhushan awards are given to: i) Founder of Reliance Industries late
Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani (posthumous) ii) Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Jagmohan, iii) Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi
Shankar iv) Indian-American economist Avinash Kamalakar Dixit and 5.Renowned dancer Yamini Krishnamurti.
16. NATIONAL FILM AWARDS GIVEN TO AMITABH BACHCHAN AND KANGANA RANAUT: Amitabh Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut have
been honoured with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns at 63rd National Awards. SS
Rajamouli's Baahubali emerged as the Best Film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali won in the best director category for his movie Bajirao Mastani.
17. ROTAVIRUS VACCINE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED BY THE UNION HEALTH MINISTER: The government launched the vaccine for Rotavirus
vaccine as part of Universal Immunization Programme to prevent child mortaility due to Rotavirus diarrhoea. The vaccine, developed
indigenously to promote "Make in India" initiative. The introduction of Rotavirus vaccine will enable the government to directly address the
problem of diarrheal deaths. Union Health Minister: J P Nadda
18. MADHYA PRADESH TO GET ITS FIRST ITBP MODERN WEAPON TRAINING CENTRE: Madhya Pradesh is going to have its first Indo
Tibetan Border Police weapon training centre at Batiagarh, Damoh. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has issued orders to set up ITBP's
Weapon and Support Weapon Training Centre in the state.
19. HARYANA LAUNCHES SCHEME FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED: Haryana Government has launched a new scheme 'Adapting Homes for
the Differently-abled'. under this scheme pension of 6 months would be given in advance to differently abled persons for adapting their
homes as per their requirement. The grant for diet money to hearing impaired has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per month.
20. MAHARASHTRA GETS ITS FIRST SET OF WOMEN COMMANDERS TO PROTECT FOREST: A batch of 20 women are going to become
the first women commandos of the state to protect forestry area of Maharashtra. The government is putting efforts towards women
empowerment. Recently Indian Navy announced to recruit 3 female fighter pilots.
21. INDIA'S BIGGEST DEFENCE EXPO 2016 BEGINS IN GOA: India's biggest ever land, naval and homeland security exhibition Defence Expo
2016 began in Goa. It was inaugurated by the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. This for the first time, the Expo is being held
outside the national capital New Delhi. The 2016 theme is Rise of Futurism and its vision is to make India prosperous by establishing
world class science and technology base in defence sector.
22. SERGEY KARJAKIN WON 2016 WORLD CHESS CANDIDATES TOURNAMENT: Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin won the FIDE World
Chess Candidates Tournament held in Moscow. He defeated American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana to won the award. He holds the
record for the world's youngest Grandmaster ever.
23. USAID AND ADB SIGNED MOU TO DEVELOP SOLAR PARKS IN INDIA: The U.S. Agency for International Development and the Asian
Development Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate 848 million US dollars in funding to develop solar parks across
India. This agreement will help to finance the development of solar parks in support of the Government of India's renewable energy targets.
24. ZAHEER KHAN APPOINTED CAPTAIN OF DELHI DAREDEVILS FOR 2016 IPL SEASON: Zaheer Khan was appointed as captain of the
Delhi Daredevils team for 2016 Indian Premier League season. He would replace South African all-rounder JP Duminy who was captain in
the last season.
25. WORLD BANK APPROVED $250 MILLION LOAN TO SUPPORT ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION SECTOR REFORMS IN RAJASTHAN: The
World Bank Board approved a 250 million US dollar Development Policy Loan for Rajasthan. The loan was granted to support the
government of Rajasthan in improving the performance of its electricity distribution sector under the State's 24x7 Power for All program. It
will support in: i) Strengthening governance in the distribution sector in the state by giving more operational autonomy to the utilities ii)
Establishing targets for reducing the gap between the cost of supply and revenue recovery. iii) Providing incentives to employees for
improving performance. iv) Improving the operational performance of the DISCOMs
26. ISRO SET TO LAUNCH RECORD 22 SATELLITES IN SINGLE MISSION: The Indian Space Research Organisation is set to made a record

by launching a record number of 22 satellites in a single mission in May 2016. These satellites will be launched using ISRO's workhorse
Polar rocket PSLV C34 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. The world record for sending highest number of satellites in
single launch is hosted by USA of sending 29 satellites to the orbit in a single launch in 2013.
27. PM REACHES BRUSSELS FOR INDIA-EU SUMMIT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brussels under his three-nation tour to
Belgium, the US and Saudi Arabia. During the visit Modi will attend the India-EU summit and the global nuclear security summit in the US.
28. INDIA RANKS THIRD GLOBALLY IN FINANCIAL TROJAN INFECTIONS: India ranks third among countries with high number of financial
Trojan infections. Earlier India was at 5th position in 2014 and now the rank is improved after global detections have reduced. Financial
Trojans is used to defraud customers of online banking services.
29. ARUN JAITLEY LAUNCHES 'MAKE IN INDIA' CONFERENCE IN SYDNEY: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched Make in India
conference in Sydney. The main purpose of the launch is to promote make in India. He said for two consecutive years Indai will be the
fastest growing economy in the world.
30. 112 WOULD BE THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY NUMBER IN INDIA: 112 would be the default emergency response number for any
situation in India. Already 100 is the emergency number to contact police, then 101 is for fire emergency, 102 is for health emergency
and 108 is for emergency situation related to disasters. All these services are regulated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for

31. MANOHAR PARRIKAR FLAGED OFF INDIA'S FIRST INDIGENOUS SONAR DOME: India's first indigenous sonar dome a ship was today
flagged off by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. It is manufactured by a Defence and Research Development Organisation. It is a huge
contribution by Indian Industry to the 'Make in India' movement. Anti-submarine warfare ships have a sonar array fitted to the ship structure
below the waterline. It functions as the ship's underwater eyes and ears. The sonar dome is a structure fitted over the sonar array so that
its electronics and sensors are not exposed to surrounding hostile environment.
32. GOVERNMENT PERMITS 100% FDI IN ONLINE MARKETPLACES: The government permitted 100% FDI in the marketplace format of ecommerce retailing with a view to attract more foreign investors. Presently, global online retailer giants like Amazon and ebay are operating
online marketplaces in India. The government is promoting FDI for attracting maximum money from foreign investors.
33. REGISTRATION OF 22 NBFCS HAS BEEN CANCELLED BY RBI: The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled registration of 22 non-banking
financial companies including Amazan Capital and Mascot Commerce. The registration of these NBFCs is canceled under Section 45-IA (6)
of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. Earlier RBI had canceled registration of six other NBFCs for not following RBI's policies under the
RBI act 1934 for not following RBI's policies.
34. RELIANCE DEFENCE AND ISRAEL'S RAFAEL TO SET UP MISSILE, AIR DEFENCE JV: Reliance Defence has inked a pact with Israel's
Rafael Advanced Defence System. The pact will help India for specialised areas including air- to-air missiles that will oversee projects
worth USD 10 billion in ten years. Joint venture company will be located at Pithampur, Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The project will have an
initial capital outlay of more than Rs 1,300 crore.
35. P SUSHEELA MOHAN ENTERS INTO GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS: Renowned playback singer P Susheela Mohan has been recognized
by the Guinness World Records and Asia Book of Records. She is known for singing the most number of songs in Indian languages. She
singed 17,695 songs in 12 Indian languages.
36. PM NARENDRA MODI UNVEILS ASIA'S LARGEST OPTICAL TELESCOPE ARIES AT NAINITAL: Asia's largest and first of its kind optical
telescope Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences was unveiled at Devasthal in Nainital District, Uttrakahnd. It was
remotely activated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Belgian Pm Charles Michel. Aries telescope was joint collaborative
technological effort between Indian and Belgian scientists. It will help in the study and exploration of planets, starts, magnetic field and
astronomical debris.
37. 13TH INDIA-EU SUMMIT HELD IN BRUSSELS: The 13th India and European Union Summit was held on 30 March 2016 in Brussels,
Belgium. In the summit India was represented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The European Union was represented by Donald Tusk
at the 13th India-EU Summit. The main issues discussed are: i) The leaders endorsed the EU-India Agenda for Action 2020 a concrete
road-map for the EU-India Strategic Partnership for the next five years. ii) The European Investment Bank agreed to extend 450 million
Euros in loan for the construction of the first metro line in Lucknow. iii) The EIB gave its nod to set up the Bank's regional representation for
South Asia in New Delhi. Iv) India-EU Water Partnership to enhance cooperation on environment issues, including on the 'Clean India' and
'Clean Ganga' flagship programmes.
38. EIB ANNOUNCED LOAN OF 33 BILLION RUPEES FOR LUCKNOW METRO: European Investment Bank announced that it will invest 33
billion rupees for the first metro line in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. This investment will be EIB's largest ever financing in India. European
Investment Bank is the European Union's bank owned by and representing the interests of the European Union Member States.
39. ADB LOWERS INDIA'S GROWTH FORECAST TO 7.4 % FOR 2016-17: The Asian Development Bank has lowered India's growth forecast
to 7.4% from an earlier estimate of 7.6% for the current financial year. This is mainly due to the failure of the government to push through

40. 4TH NUCLEAR SECURITY SUMMIT BEGINS IN WASHINGTON: The fourth edition of Nuclear Security Summit started in Washington,
USA. The summit is conducted to discuss issues related to nuclear security. The summit is attended by the heads of about 53 countries
and representatives of five international organisations including the UNO, International Atomic Energy Agency, European Union and Interpol
are taking part. India is being represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit will highlight achievements and commitments of
several countries towards safeguarding nuclear devices and technologies and reducing the threat of nuclear terrorism.
41. INDIA AND SRI LANKA SIGNED MOU TO PROVIDE 150 BOATS & FISHING EQUIPMENT TO MULLAITHIVU FISHERMEN: India and Sri
Lanka inked a Memorandum of Understanding to provide 150 fishing boats and fishing equipment to 300 Tamil fishermen from Mullaithivu
in North Sri Lanka. The boats and equipment will be provided as a part of India's development assistance programme in Sri Lanka. Earlier
India had provided 175 boats and fishing equipment to Tamil fishermen of Mannar region.
42. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES STARTUP INDIA PORTAL AND MOBILE APP: The Union Government has launched the Startup India
portal (http://startupindia.gov.in) and mobile application. It was launched by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion Ramesh
Abhishek in New Delhi. It was started to promote Action Plan of the Startup India started by PM. The portal and mobile app provide up-todate information issued by various Government ministries/ departments.
43. VIJAYA BANK TO GET RS 220 CRORE CAPITAL INFUSION FROM GOVERNMENT: Vijaya Bank a capital infusion of Rs 220 crore in lieu of
preferential allotment of shares. Last year, the government had announced a revamp plan 'Indradhanush' to infuse Rs 70,000 crore in stateowned banks over four years. In the first tranche, as many as 13 public sectors banks were given fund support of Rs 19,950 crore. SBI got
the highest amount of Rs 5,393 crore.
44. KACHHABALI BECOMES 1ST LIQUOR-FREE VILLAGE IN RAJASTHAN: Kachhabali village in Rajasthan has become the 1st in the state to
vote to close down its lone liquor shop. 67.11% of voters saying they wanted no alcohol sale in the village. Polling was conducted by the
excise department for taking reviews of public about opening/closing of liquor shops in Rajasthan's rural areas.
45. VIRAT KOHLI RISES TO TOP IN ICC T20I RANKINGS: Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli has replaced Aaron Finch as the number one
batsman in the latest ICC T20 rankings. In the bowlers rankings, India's Ravinchandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja feature in the Top-10.
Ashwin has slipped to be at 3rd place while Jadeja moved up 3 spots to be at 7th. The bowling list is topped by S. Badree in T20 rankings.

1. UNION GOVERNMENT IMPOSES SAFEGUARD DUTY ON IMPORT OF STEEL PRODUCTS: The Union Finance Minister has extended the safeguard duty
on import of some steel products by two years till March 2018.The safeguard duty will be imposed on steel products hot-rolled flat products of nonalloy and other alloy steel. The duty will be on the products which are imported at or above the minimum import price which helps to set a floor price
mainly to discourage imports below this price. The main objective of this move is to protect domestic industry from onslaught of cheap steel supplies
from China.
2. JAILED EGYPTIAN NOVELIST AHMED NAJI TO RECEIVE PEN/BARBEY FREEDOM TO WRITE AWARD: Novelist Ahmed Naji will receive PEN/Barbey
freedom to write award at Pen America's annual Literary Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Naji is the author and a journalist
at the state-funded Akhbar al-Adab literary magazine. In 2015, he was charged with violating public modesty after a private citizen complained that an
Naji's novel 'The Use of Life' had given the reader heart palpitations due to its sexual content.
3. SHIVA THAPA WINS SILVER MEDAL AT ASIAN/OCEANIA QUALIFYING EVENT IN CHINA: Ace Indian boxer Shiva Thapa has won the silver medal at the
Asian/Oceania Qualifying Tournament held in Qian'an, China in the 56 Kg category. The Gold medal was won by Thailand's Chatchai Butdee. Earlier
Shiva won World Championship bronze-medallist in the Bantamweight category held in Doha in 2015.
4. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED VIDYUT PRAVAH MOBILE APP TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO DEMAND 24X7 POWERS. Union Power, Coal and New
and Renewable Energy Minister of State Piyush Goyal launched Vidyut PRAVAH- Electricity, Price Availability and Highlights mobile application in New
Delhi. The mobile application provides highlights of the power availability in India on real time basis. The app will empower common people to demand
24X7 power from the states and will take transparency to the next level and make state governments more accountable.
5. WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY 2016 CELEBRATED ACROSS THE WORLD: The World Autism Awareness Day 2016 was celebrated across the
world on 2 April 2016. The Theme for the day is Autism and the 2030 Agenda: Inclusion and Neurodiversity. The day is observed to raise awareness
about children with autism throughout the world. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that manifests itself during the first three years of life.
6. NIFTY LAUNCHES NEW INDEX FOR MID AND SMALL CAP STOCKS: The National Stock Exchange has launched a new index Nifty MidSmallcap 400. It
will represent the mid and small market capitalization segments of the stock market. The new index will include 400 companies which are the
constituents of Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap 250 indices.
7. MEHBOOBA MUFTI TO BE SWORN IN AS FIRST WOMAN CM OF JAMMU & KASHMIR: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti will sworn in as the first woman
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. After the death of her father who headed PDP-BJP coalition government Mehbooba had been reluctant to take
over as CM of the PDP-BJP coalition government.

8. BANKS ADOPTED NEW RATE FORMULA FOR LENDING: A large number of banks, including ICICI, Bank of India, IDBI today joined their peers like HDFC
Bank, SBI and Axis Bank to make a shift to lending rates based on marginal cost of funds. Consumer loans became cheaper with new banking formula. It
will have a new way of setting lending rates following RBI's diktat to ensure faster and effective transmission of its policy rate cuts to borrowers. RBI had
asked banks to price fixed rate loans of up to three years based on marginal cost of funds from April 1. The lending rate based on marginal cost of funds
is lower than base rate.
9. JAPAN TO LEND RS.14, 000 CRORE FOR INDIAN PROJECTS: The Government of Japan has committed a loan of 242.2 billion for various projects
across Indian states. The fund will be used for integrated sanitation improvement project, a road network connectivity improvement project and micro
drip irrigation projects.
10. MUMBAI TO GET INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE BY AUGUST: Mumbai Financial capital of India will get the International Arbitration Centre.
This will be the India's first arbitration centre for dealing the financial disputes. The financial disputes of India presently dealt in the Singapore Arbitration
centre.
11. RAJIV GAUBA TAKES OVER AS SECRETARY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT MINISTRY: Rajiv Gauba took over as Secretary to the Government of India in

23. GERMANY TO GIVE 3750 CR LOAN TO NAGPUR METRO: Germany's Development Bank will give a loan assistance of 3,750 crore for metro system in
Nagpur city. The fund will be provided for a period of 20 years. Nagpur metro project becomes first metro to be financed under the Indo-German
partnership for clean, socially inclusive and climate friendly mobility for people in cities.
24. INDIA'S FASTEST TRAIN GATIMAAN EXPRESS FLAGGED OFF: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off India's fastest train the Gatimaan Express
from Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin station. The train completed its first journey from Delhi to Agra in 100 minutes as compared to about 2-3 hours that other
trains take to cover the distance. The Gatimaan Express provides free Wi-fi to its passengers.
25. VEDANTA SETS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR MASS PLANTATION: Vedanta mining company in Talwandi Sabo Power has set the Guinness
World Record for planting 2,08,751 saplings n less than an hour. The mass plantation drive was organized in Mansa, Punjab on October 30, 2015.Earlier
the company also undertakes high impact initiatives to ensure the health and safety of the workers and makes valuable contributions to communities
across the country.
26. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE 2016 OBSERVED: The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace
2016 was observed on 6 April 2016. A campaigning is launched named let's play for Sustainable Development Goals. International Day of Sport for
Development and Peace observed on April 6 to mark the opening of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.
27. UNION MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP LAUNCHED TRANSNATIONAL SKILL STANDARDS: The Union Minister of
State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Pratap Rudy 2016 launched Transnational Skill Standards in New Delhi. The Memorandums of
Understanding were signed between National Skill Development Council and Association of Colleges of UK to increase employer engagement and
investment in skills in India. The main aim is to support Make in India and Skill India initiatives. The training will be provided in several economic activities
including agriculture, life science, healthcare, capital goods, textiles, hospitality, information technology, etc. The Transnational Skill Standards will
support international mobility of Indian workforce.
28. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHED STAND UP INDIA SCHEME: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi started Stand Up India Scheme to
promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes and Women entrepreneurs. Pm also inaugurated a Kaushal Kendra known as
Skilling Center under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna in Noida. The Scheme will facilitate at least two projects per bank branch for each category of
entrepreneur. It will provider refinance through Small Industries Development Bank of India with an initial amount of 10000 crore rupees.
29. VISHWANATHAN ANAND TO BE HONOURED WITH HRIDAYNATH MANGESHKAR AWARD :Five time world chess champion Vishwanathan Anand
will be honoured with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award. Vishwanathan Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster and a former world champion.

31. RBI CUTS REPO RATE BY 25 BASIS POINTS TO 6.5%:The Reserve Bank of India has cut down repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.5 per cent from 6.75
per cent. It was announced in the first bi-monthly monetary policy of the RBI for the 2016-17 fiscal. It is the rate at which RBI lends to the banks. RBI has
unchanged CRR and kept it at 4.0 per cent. . RBI has adjusted reverse repo rate under the LAF to 6 per cent. Reverse repo rate is the rate at which banks
can keep excess funds with the RBI.
32. WORLD HEALTH DAY OBSERVED ON 7TH APRIL: World Health Day is observed on 7TH April across the world. The day is observed to promote

33. INDIA WINS 2016 ASIAN NATIONS CUP CHESS TOURNAMENT: Indian men have won the 2016 Asian Nations Cup Chess tournament by defeating

34. FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR FIRST HORTICULTURE UNIVERSITY IN HARYANA: Union Agriculture and farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan
Singh laid the foundation stone of Haryana State University of Horticultural Sciences at Karnal in Haryana. The horticultural university will help to
support the gap between teaching, research and extension activities in the state. The university will also act as a skill development centre to manage the
larger demand for trained manpower in the production, post harvest and processing industries.
35. UNION CABINET GAVE EX-FACTO APPROVAL FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ONE RANK ONE PENSION: The Union Cabinet headed by the Prime
Minister Narendra Modi gave its ex-post facto approval for implementation of One Rank One Pension. It will increase the pension for the
pensioners/family pensioners of Defence Forces. The benefit will be given with effect from 1 July 2014.
36. MADHUKAR GUPTA COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED TO SUGGEST WAYS TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY ALONG INDO-PAK BORDER: The Union
Government constituted a high-level committee to suggest ways to strengthen the border protection along the border with Pakistan. It will also address

37. MEMORIAL FOR ABDUL KALAM TO BE OPENED AT DILLI HAAT: Delhi government is going to build a memorial for late President APJ Abdul Kalam at
Dilli Haat in south Delhi. This memorial will include the notes, books, clothes and other personal items of the former president. It will be opened to the
public on July 27 on the death anniversary of A.P.J Abdul kalam.Bharat Ratna Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, generally known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul
Kalam. He was the 11th President of India.
38. AADHAAR ENROLLMENTS CROSSED THE MARK OF 100 CR.: Over 100 crore people now have an Aadhaar number. According to Telecom Minister
Ravi Shankar Prasad it will give boost to government's initiative of bringing a systematic change in the way services.Through the aadhaar card
government is giving direct subsidies and benefits to the public. The Unique Identification Authority of India had generated 100 crore Aadhaar numbers
in five-and half years since the first Aadhaar was issued in 2010.
39. WORLD'S FIRST PUBLIC DENGUE VACCINATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED IN PHILIPPINES: The world's first public dengue vaccination
programme was launched in the Philippines. The vaccine is named as Dengvaxia. Philippines had the highest dengue incidence from 2013 to 2015.
Dengvaxia is developed by the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi.
40. NORTH EAST-ASEAN BUSINESS SUMMIT KICKS OFF IN IMPHAL: The first-ever North East-ASEAN Business Summit started in Imphal,

National Food Security Act renamed as Maa Annapurna Yojna by the state government. Under the Maa Annapurna Yojna people will get rice at Rs
3 per Kg and wheat at Rs 2 per Kg. Only 11 states had implemented the National Food Security Act.
43. CP GURNANI APPOINTED AS NASSCOM CHAIRMAN: CP Gurnan is appointed as the new Chairman of the National Association of Software and
Services Companies for 2016-17. He would focus on programmes aimed at making India a digital. The National Association of Software and
Services Companies is a trade association of Indian Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing industry. It was Established in
1988 as a non-profit organization.
44. MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH'S STATUE TO BE INSTALLED IN FRANCE: A statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh will be installed in France's Saint-Tropez
town on 2016. The town is the birth place of Maharaja's Army General Jean-Francois Allard. The Indian embassy in France will also hold an
exhibition on the life of the king. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire in 19th century.

2. GOVT. INAUGURATES 'NAMMA TOILET' IN DELHI UNDER SWACHH BHARAT MISSION: To promote the Swachh Bharat Mission Union Urban
development Minister Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated 'Namma Toilet' in Delhi. It is started to achieve central government's target to establish over
2.5 lakh public toilets by 2nd October 2017. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is contributing in a major way to ensure hygiene and cleanliness to all in the

3. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES B B TANDON COMMITTEE TO MONITOR GOVERNMENT ADVERTISEMENTS: The Union Information
and Broadcasting Ministry has constituted a Committee to set guidelines for government advertisements. The committee will be headed by the
former Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon. Senior TV journalist Rajat Sharma and ad-man Piyush Pandey will be the other two members of
the committee. Supreme Court had barred publication of photos of leaders in government advertisements except those of the President, Prime
Minister and the Chief Justice of India. SC had also directed the Union Government to constitute a three-member committee to regulate the issue
of public advertisements.

laptop. The laptop is having 10.4 mm thickness. It is the world's thinnest laptop and has a battery life of up to nine and a half hours.
5. SNAPDEAL LAUNCHES DONATION PROGRAM 'SUNSHINE': Snapdeal has partnered with 9 non governmental organisations to start Snapdeal
Sunshine, a programme. The programme is started where users can make donations to causes under education, health, sports, women
empowerment, disaster relief and old age care. These organisations include Magic Bus, Teach for India and Help Age India, Akshaya Patra, Care
India, which will provide required products for ongoing projects. The products will be sent to the partner after the donation is accepted, and
donors will be able to track the progress on Snapdeal.

8. INDIA TOPPED IN CREDIT SUISSE EMERGING CONSUMERS SCORECARD 2016: Indian consumers remain most optimistic about their current
and future finances and relatively lower inflation expectations. The report is released in Credit Suisse Emerging Consumer Scorecard 2016. India
topped in the scoreboard followed by China and Saudi Arabia. The survey covered nine countries - Brazil, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, India,

9. CENTRE GOVERNMENT RELEASED RS.12, 230 CRORE TO STATES FOR MGNREGA: The Ministry of Rural Development has released a share
of Rs. 12,230 crore to the states. The fund will be used for implementation of projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment

payments bank. The Payments Banks are not allowed to lend. Last year RBI had granted in-principle licences to 11 entities to start payments

1. UNION GOVERNMENT IMPOSES ANTI-DUMPING DUTY ON N-BUTYL ALCOHOL: The Union Government has imposed an anti-dumping
duty on imports of N-Butyl Alcohol from five countries. The duty is imposed on European Union, Malaysia, Singapore and US. Normal
Butanol, or N-Butyl Alcohol exported from five countries mentioned above was found to be below normal value compared to domestic
value.
2. INDIA AND SOUTH KOREA INK MOU FOR COOPERATION AND MUTUAL ASSISTANCE IN DEVELOPMENT OF PORTS: India and South
Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation and mutual assistance in development of ports. The MoU will help
both countries to boost maritime relationship as well as encourage and facilitate the development of ports, port related industry. It will
encourage cooperation in sharing of technology, experiences in the fields of port operation and development.
3. MASTERCARD CEO AJAY BANGA APPOINTED AS MEMBER OF US CYBERSECURITY BODY: US President Barack Obama has nominated
MasterCard's Indian-American CEO Ajay Banga as a member of the Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity. The commission
was established in February 2016 to make detailed recommendations to strengthen cybersecurity in both the public and private sectors
while protecting privacy, ensuring public safety and economic and national security.
4. PM NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHES NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MARKET PORTAL ENAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched National
Agriculture Market portal eNAM to connect e-mandis in several States. ENam is an online inter-connectivity of e-mandis, aimed at
agriculture marketing reforms to enable farmers to get better price of their produce. E-National Agriculture Market is a pan-India e-trading
platform. Farmers can showcase their produce online from their nearest market and traders can quote price from anywhere.
5. PM NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATES MARITIME INDIA SUMMIT 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maritime India
Summit 2016 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This is India's first ever Maritime Summit and the flagship event organised by Union Ministry of
Shipping. South Korea is the partner country for the summit and will be represented by a high level ministerial and business delegation. The
main focus of summit is to give impetus to make in India and blue economy under the Union Government's ambitious Sagarmala Project
for ports development.
6. PM NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHES GRAM UDAY SE BHARAT UDAY ABHIYAN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 'Gram Uday Se
Bharat Uday Abhiyan' also known as Village Self Governance Campaign. The campaign is launched to strengthen Panchayati Raj in villages
and ensure social harmony in villages. It was launched on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at his
birthplace at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. Panchayati Raj Day is observed on 24th April.
7. INDIA WORLD'S LARGEST REMITTANCE RECIPIENT IN 2015 A REPORT BY WORLD BANK: According to the report released by World
Bank India remained the world's largest remittance recipient in 2015. It was revealed in the World Bank's annual report Migration and
Development. India attracted about 69 billion US dollars in remittances followed by china, phillippines, mexico , and Nigeria.
8. AKASH MISSILE SYSTEM SUCCESSFULLY TEST FIRED: Indigenously developed surface-to-air supersonic Akash missile System was
successfully test fired from Chandipuri in Odisha. Akash Missile is a mid-range surface-to-air missile. It is medium range nuclear capable
supersonic missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation.
9. NAURU BECOMES 189TH MEMBER OF IMF AND WORLD BANK: South Pacific island nation Nauru has become the 189th member of the
International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Nauru applied for membership in April 2014, after joining the United Nations in 1996 as
the world's smallest independent republic. Now it becomes the smallest member of the World Bank. World bank and IMF also known as
Bretton-Woods institutions.
10. CABINET NOD TO ADOPT STATUTE OF SAWEN TO CHECK WILDLIFE CRIMES: Union Cabinet has given its approval for India adopting
the Statute of the South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network known as SAWEN. SAWEN is formed with an objective of taking initiatives for
bringing harmonization and standardization in laws and policies of member countries concerning conservation of wild fauna and flora. It
will also strengthen ties with the member countries in controlling the trans-boundary wildlife crime through communication, coordination,
collaboration, capacity building and cooperation in the region.
11. SUSHILA KARKI BECAME THE FIRST FEMALE CHIEF JUSTICE OF NEPAL'S SUPREME COURTl: Nepal has selected Justice Sushila
Karki for the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. She will become 26th chief justice of the apex court and the first female CJ in
Nepal's history.
12. PM MODI LAUNCHED GRAM UDAY SE BHARAT UDAY ABHIYAN: PM Narendra Modi launched 'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan' at
Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. The Abhiyan is launched on the 125th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar at his birthplace to strengthen
Panchayati Raj in villages and ensure social harmony in villages. Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan launched to promote rural

14. PANAGARH AIRBASE RENAMED AFTER FORMER IAF CHIEF ARJAN SINGH: Panagarh Air Force Base of West Bengal was renamed as
Air Force Station Arjan Singh. It is a rare honour to the nation's oldest soldier Marshal of Air Force Arjan Singh. Marshal of the Air Force
Arjan Singh had led the Indian Air Force in the 1965 India-Pakistan war. He was the first Indian Air Chief to be elevated to the rank of Air
Chief Marshal on 16 January 1966.
15. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATED MARITIME INDIA SUMMIT 2016: The two days Maritime India Summit 2016 has
been inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. It is India's 1st Maritime Summit organised by Union Ministry of Shipping in
Goregaon Mumbai from 14th April to 16 April, 2016. More than 50 other maritime nations have been invited to come to India to explore
potential business opportunities in Indian Maritime Sector. The summit will project large investment opportunities in each of the Indian
Maritime States and Union Territories.
16. BRICS BANK DISBURSES $250 MILLION LOAN FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT TO CANARA BANK: The New Development Bank
has sanctioned a fund of $250 million to India's renewable energy projects. The NDB approved four green renewable energy projects from
India, Brazil, China and South Africa of $811 million. The project from India entails provisioning of multi-tranche loan of $250 million to
Canara Bank for lending to renewable energy projects.
17. JHARKHAND GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR AWAS YOJANA FOR WIDOWS: The Chief Minister of Jharkhand
Raghubar Das has launched the "Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana" for widows. The yojna is launched on the 125th birth anniversary of B R
Ambedkar. The main purpose of the scheme is to create equality and harmony in society, ensuring all round development. The scheme is
aimed to build 11,000 houses for the current financial year.
18. 69TH HIMACHAL DAY OBSERVED ON 15TH APRIL: Himachal Pradesh is celebrating 69th Himachal Day on 15th April. After independence,
the Chief Commissioner's Province of Himachal Pradesh came into existence on 15 April 1948. The himachal Pardesh is formed after the

20. AUSTRALIA WINS 2016 SULTAN AZLAN SHAH HOCKEY TOURNAMENT: Australia has won the 25th edition of Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey
Tournament 2016. In the final match Australia defeated India by 4-0 goals. Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament is an annual international men's
field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. It is named after 9th king of Malaysia and 'Father of Malaysian Hockey' Sultan Azlan Shah.
21. US COURT IMPOSED 940 MILLION DOLLARS FINE ON TWO TATA GROUP COMPANIES: The federal grand jury in the US State of
Wisconsin has slapped 940 million US dollars fine against two companies of India's Tata group. These two companies are Tata
Consultancy Services and Tata America International Corp. They were fined in a trade secret lawsuit filed against them by the US based
electronics medical records vendor Epic Systems. The US based company in its lawsuit has alleged that TCS employee reviewed its
intellectual property under the pretence of doing consulting work for Kaiser Permanente, the largest managed health care company in the
US. While doing so he downloaded Epic's proprietary software to help build a rival system.
22. 1. DELHI RANKED 44TH AMONG WORLD'S 50 FUTURE-READY CITIES: Delhi has been ranked 44th in embracing technology for growth
among the world's 50 'future-ready economies cities' The top place in the list is grabbed by San Jose, followed by San Francisco,
Singapore, London and Washington DC. The rankings were calculated after considering the parameters of human capital, infrastructure and
commerce.
23. HERO GROUP CO-FOUNDER SATYANAND MUNJAL PASSES AWAY: Satyanand Munjal the co-founder of Hero Cycles group passed
away in Ludhiana, Punjab. He was popularly known as 'mahatma'. Satyan and Munjal is known for being involved in several social causes
related to the Arya Samaj. Satyanand Munjal had co-founded hero group with his three brothers including On Prakash.
24. UNION GOVERNMENT APPOINTS SUSMITA PANDE AS CHAIRPERSON OF NATIONAL MONUMENT AUTHORITY: The Union Government
has appointed Susmita Pande as the new chairperson of the National Monument Authority. She will replace Himanshu Prabha Ray. National
Monuments Authority is functions under the Union Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is headquatered in New Delhi.

standard format. The decision is taken because the revenue intelligence and central security agencies are looking seriously into money
laundering and financial fraud cases. Enforcement Directorate also emphasised that the details of cheque transaction should also be
provided by the banks in the prescribed format.
30. THE 13TH ISLAMIC SUMMIT CONFERENCE CONCLUDED IN ISTANBUL: The 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference was
concluded in Istanbul, Turkey. The theme of the event is Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace. The main purpose is to discuss the
current situation in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Mali, Jammu and Kashmir, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia's aggressions
on Azerbaijan. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization founded in 1969 consisting of 57 member states.
31. UNION GOVERNMENT RELEASED COMMEMORATIVE COIN AND CIRCULATION COIN ON TATYA TOPE: Union Minister for Culture and
Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma released a Commemorative Coin of 200 rupees and a Circulation Coin of 10 rupees to mark the
Martyrdom Day of Tatya Tope. The Union Ministry of Culture has been celebrating the 200th Birth Anniversary of Tatya Tope. Tatya Tope
known as Ramachandra Pandurang Tope was one of the most outstanding leaders of India's First War of Independence in 1857.
32. DIPA KARMAKAR BECAME FIRST INDIAN WOMAN GYMNAST TO QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS: Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar created
history by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for Olympics. He booked his berth for the Rio Games after a strong
performance at the final qualifying and test event.
33. DELL RELEASED LIST OF FUTURE READY ECONOMIES MODEL: Dell released its ranking of Future Ready Economies Model globally.
San Jose topped the list and Delhi in India ranked at 44th place. These rankings are based on the embracing technology of the counties to
adapt and thrive in an ever changing and globalised future.
34. MANEKA GHANDHI LAUNCHED BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO SCHEME IN 61 MORE DISTRICTS: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme
extended to additional 61 districts across 11 States and UTs with low Child Sex Ratio. Last Year The scheme was launched by the Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme is started to control the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio and issues
related to disempowerment of women.
35. INDIA INKED MOU WITH MAURITIUS FOR COOPERATION IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE AND HOMOEOPATHY: India and Mauritius have
inked an MoU on cooperation in the field of traditional system of medicine and Homoeopathy. It aims to promote and popularize the various
Indian traditional systems which fall under AYUSH. The MoU will help to promote cooperation in the field of traditional system of health and
medicine between the countries.
36. 3. CULTURE & TOURISM MINISTER RELEASES COMMEMORATIVE AND CIRCULATION COIN ON TATYA TOPE: A memorial Coin of Rs.
200 and a Coin of Rs. 10 on Tatya Tope released by Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma. The day is observed on
the occasion of his Martyr Day in New Delhi. He is one of the most outstanding leaders of India's War of Independence. The coins are

Disinvestment as Department of Investment and Public Asset Management. The decision is taken for proper management of Union
government's investments in equity including its disinvestment in central public sector undertakings. The new scheme will advise
government in the matters of financial restructuring of central public sector enterprises and for attracting investment through capital
markets.
43. RBL BANK BECAME FIRST PRIVATE SECTOR BANK TO OPEN DEDICATED BRANCH FOR START-UPS IN INDIA: The RBL Bank became
the first private sector bank in India to open dedicated branch for start-ups. The dedicated branch was inaugurated at Koramangala,
Bengaluru. Earlier SBI become first bank to started specific branches to serve the needs of start-ups in Bengaluru.
44. EUROPE BECOMES WORLD'S FIRST REGION TO END MALARIA A REPORT BY WHO: Europe has become the world's first region to
completely wipe out Malaria. A Particular region is declared Malaria free by WHO after it has zero locally acquired malaria cases for at
least three consecutive years.
45. BCCI APPOINTED RAHUL JOHRI AS ITS CEO: Board of Control for Cricket in India appointed Rahul Johri as its Chief Executive Officer.
The creation of the post of the CEO was a change recommended by the three-member Lodha panel in its report in January 2016. The panel
had stressed the need for the BCCI to separate its governance and management duties, with the CEO taking charge of the management

1. EARTH DAY OBSERVED ON 22ND APRIL: Every year Earth Day is being observed on the 22nd April. The day is observed to build support for
environmental protection around the world. The day recognises that Earth and its ecosystems provide its inhabitants with life and
sustenance. It also aims to raise awareness that humans have a collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature and to balance the
economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations. The Theme of the day is 'Trees for the Earth'.
2. INDIA REPLACES CHINA AS TOP FDI DESTINATION IN 2015: According to FDI Intelligence Report India has replaced China as the top
Foreign Direct Investment destination. India is attracting $63 billion worth FDI projects in 2015. India has replaced China as the top
destination for FDI by capital investment following of high-value project announcements. Top destination states for FDI in 2015 in India are
Gujarat and then by Maharashtra.
3. ISRO SCIENTISTS MADE WORLD'S LIGHTEST MATERIAL 'SILICA AEROGEL' TO KEEP SOLDIERS WARM IN SIACHEN: Scientists at the
Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram indigenously manufactured the world's lightest synthetic material called 'silica
aerogel' or 'blue air' or 'frozen smoke'. It is Silica Aerogel is the lightest synthetic material ever made by man. It has an excellent thermal
resistance and if it is used as filler in soldiers' uniforms it can save many lives at the Siachen glacier. The material can be used both in
space and on Earth. Scientists also hope it can be used to insulate rocket engines.
4. THE MAKING OF INDIA: THE UNTOLD STORY OF BRITISH ENTERPRISES AUTHORED BY KARTAR LALVANI: The making of India: The
untold story of British Enterprises book authored by Kartar Lalvani released. The book discusses the British rule and its role in creating a
unified India. The book supposedly brings out the many positive aspects of the colonial rule that remained hitherto untold.
5. INDIA RANKED 133RD IN 2016 WORLD PRESS FREEDOM INDEX: India with a score of 43.17 was ranked 133 out of 180 countries in the
2016 World Press Freedom Index. The Index was published by Reporters without Borders. World Freedom Index is topped by Finland
followed by the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark.
6. PRESIDENT NOMINATES 6 EMINENT MEMBERS TO RAJYA SABHA: President Pranab Mukherjee has nominated of six eminent members
to Rajya Sabha. The members are nominated as per the provisions of Article 80 of the Constitution. The nominated members are:- Mary
Kom: Legendary boxer and Olympic bronze medallist. Narendra Jadhav: He is renowned economist. Suresh Gopi: He is Malayalam actor
and had acted in over 200 films. Swapan Dasgupta: He is journalist by profession. Subramanian Swamy: He is BJP leader and was elected
to the Lok Sabha in 1977, 1980 and 1988, and to the Rajya Sabha in 1974 and 1998. Navjot Singh Sidhu: He is cricketer-turned-politician
and former two time member of Lok Sabha.
7. 175 NATIONS INKED HISTORIC PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT ON EARTH DAY: 175 nations including India have inked the Paris Climate
Agreement at United Nations Headquarters in New York. It is signed to curb global warming. The ceremony was hosted by UN Secretary
General Ban Ki-moon on the occasion of Earth Day on 22 April.
8. TIME MAGAZINE RELEASED LIST OF 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD: Time Magazine released a list of 100 Most
Influential People in the World. RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, tennis player Sania Mirza, actress Priyanka Chopra, Google CEO Sundar
Pichai and founders of Flipkart, Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal have been named by Time magazine in its list.

Treasury Department announced that the image of an American abolitionist and anti-slavery activist Harriet Tubman will appear on a new
series of US $20 bills. Harriet Tubman will become the first African-American and the first woman in more than a century to appear on U.S.
paper currency. Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist, humanitarian, and an armed scout and spy for the United States Army during
the American Civil War.
10. UNION MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY LAUNCHED TWITTER SEVA: The Commerce and Industry Ministry launched a
service named Twitter Seva. The service is launched to address issues and grievances of startups, exporters and importers, and other
stakeholders. Queries on matters relating to Department of Commerce and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion will be answered
through this service.
11. MAHATMA GANDHI'S GRANDDAUGHTER TARA GANDHI GETS TOP FRENCH HONOUR: Mahatma Gandhi's granddaughter Tara Gandhi
Bhattacharjee was conferred with the Order of Arts and Letters, one of France's top honours. She is awarded for remarkable work for
promoting peace, education, solidarity, culture and development. She was conferred with the Officier de lOrdre des Arts et Lettres honour.
Earlier Bharti Kher, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Aishwarya Rai ,Shahrukh Khan, and Upamanyu Chatterjee was honoured with this award.
12. PM WILL APPROVE RS. 8,000 CRORE SCHEME FOR FREE LPG CONNECTIONS TO POOR: PM Narendra Modi on May 1 will launch Rs.
8,000 crore scheme to provide 5 crore free LPG connections to Below Poverty Line families. The amount is saved from 1.13 crore cooking
gas users who gave up their subsidies voluntarily. The scheme is known as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and he will launch it on May 1 in
Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra tops the list with 16.44 lakh consumers giving up subsidies followed up by Uttar Pradesh.
13. WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY OBSERVED ON 23RD APRIL: World Book Day is observed every year by the people all over the
world on 23rd of April. It is organized annually by the UNESCO in order to promote the reading, publishing and copyright among the public
worldwide. It is observed in the rememberance of William Shakespeare.
14. BCCI TO HOST FIRST DAY-NIGHT TEST AGAINST NEW ZEALAND IN 2016: BCCI is going to host its first ever day and night cricket Test
with the pink ball during New Zealand tour to India. India will host New Zealand in a day-night Test match to be played with a pink ball.
Duleep Trophy will act as a dress rehearsal for the day-night Test match. The main objective of the Duleep Trophy will be to check how the
pink kookaburra behaves under the light in sub-continental conditions.
15. INDIA'S FIRST ONLINE INTERACTIVE HERITAGE PORTAL SAHAPEDIA LAUNCHED: The Union Government has launched India's first
online interactive heritage portal named Sahapedia in New Delhi. The web portal is a collaborative knowledge resource on the arts, culture
and heritage of India. Sahapedia is a not-for-profit society headed by former TCS chairman S. Ramadorai, who also chairs the National Skill
Development Agency. The purpose of this portal is to inform, educate and act on subjects such as knowledge traditions, visual and material
arts, performing arts, literature and languages.
16. APRIL IS OBSERVED AS WORLD MALARIA DAY: World Malaria Day is observed annually on 25th April. The day is observed to recognise
the global efforts to control preventable vector borne disease malaria. The Theme of the day is End Malaria For Good. Malaria is a
mosquito-borne infectious disease most commonly transmitted by an infected female Anopheles mosquito.
17. WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK 2016 ORGANISED WITH CAMPAIGN CLOSE THE IMMUNIZATION GAP: World Immunization Week 2016
is being organised in allover the world from 24 April and 30 April 2016. The week's campaign is 'Close the Immunization Gap' and it seeks
to achieve global vaccination targets by 2020. The 2016 campaign focuses on the need for immunization among adolescents and adults throughout life. The week is organised by the WHO with an aim to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.
18. WRESTLER SANDEEP TOMAR QUALIFIED FOR RIO OLYMPICS IN 57-KG FREESTYLE CATEGORY: Wrestler Sandeep Tomar won a
bronze medal finish on the final day of the 1st World Olympic qualifying tournament at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. He secured his Olympic
quota place for India in the men's 57kg freestyle category. Now Sandeep became the fourth Indian wrestler after Yogeshwar Dutt , Narsingh
Yadav , and Hardeep Singh to book a berth for the Rio Games.
19. SALMAN KHAN NAMED AS INDIAN CONTINGENT'S GOODWILL AMBASSADOR FOR 2016 RIO OLYMPICS: Bollywood actor Salman
Khan was named as the goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the upcoming Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is
the first time when a Bollywood superstar has been chosen as a goodwill ambassador for the Indian contingent at the Olympics. He was
chosen by the Indian Olympic Association from a list of two to three candidates including Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
20. PRIME MINISTER CONFERS AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN IMPLEMENTATION OF PRIORITY PROGRAMMES: The PM Narendra Modi
conferred awards for excellence in implementation of priority programmes on the occasion of 10th Civil Services Day today. For the priority
programme Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Nagaon, Assam was awarded in North East and Hill States category and Chandigarh in UTs.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), West Sikkim and Bikaner, Rajasthan were awarded in North East & Hill states and Other States

21. APRIL OBSERVED AS NATIONAL PANCHAYATI RAJ DIWAS: Every year April 24 is observed as National Panchayati Raj Diwas across
India. The day marks the passing of the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24 April 1993. It
had led a defining moment in the history of India which helped in decentralization of political power to the grassroots level.
22. WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY 2016 OBSERVED ON 26 APRIL: The World Intellectual Property Day 2016 was observed on 26
April across the world. The theme of the day is Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined. The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the
role that intellectual property rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
23. INDIA BANNED MILK AND MOBILE PHONES IMPORT FROM CHINA: India has banned import of milk and milk products and certain
mobile phones from China after finding them sub-standard or not following security codes. Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated
that India banned import of milk and milk products from China as their quality was unacceptable. Complete ban of import from any country
is not possible now due to WTO rules even if we have problems diplomatically, territorially or militarily.
24. MANOJ BAJPAYEE TO RECEIVE DADASAHEB PHALKE AWARD FOR 'ALIGARH': Renowned actor Manoj Bajpayee will be going to receive
the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the movie Aligarh. The actor will receive the award in the best actor category of Critics Choice. The award
will be presented on 1st of May, 2016. The movie 'Aligarh' is a biographical drama directed by Hansal Mehta and the actor Manoj Bajpayee
has played a role of Professor 'Ramchandra Siras' in it.
25. INDIA TO HOST 2018 COMMONWEALTH JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS: India will host the 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships in
Jaipur. This was announced by the Judo Federation of India in a press release in New Delhi today. The Commonwealth Judo Congress had
allotted the Championships to India at its meeting held at Port Elizabeth in South Africa on Saturday.
26. OPERATION SULAIMANI TO ERADICATE POVERTY IN KOZHIKODE DISTRICT: The Operation Sulaimani was started in Kozhikode district
to set implement this project to ensure food for the needy in its jurisdiction. The main objective is to avoid food wastage in the district. The
project is named after Sulaimani as the Kozhikode is famous for food and 'Sulaimani' is one of such iconic items of the district.
27. INDIAN ROWER DATTU BHOKANAL QUALIFIES FOR RIO OLYMPICS: Indian rower Dattu Baban Bhokanal qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He qualified Rio Olympics after winning a silver medal in the FISA Asian and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta held at Chung-ju in South
Korea. South Korea's Dongyong Kim won the gold medal in the event.
28. HEART OF ASIA CONFERENCE STARTED IN NEW DELHI: The Heart of Asia conferenc in New Delhi. The main objective is to bring peace
and stability to Afghanistan. The conference was attended by officials of a number of countries and is likely to deliberate on a host of issues
like combating challenge of extremism and terrorism. Heart of Asia is a Conference part to discuss an agenda of regional cooperation with
Afghanistan at its centre.
29. GOVT HIKES MINIMUM WAGE FOR CONTRACT WORKERS TO RS 10,000: The government has stated the minimum wage for contract
workers has been increased to Rs. 10,000 per month. The changes are made by central government to make reforms in labour laws and to
proceed from minimum wage to universal wage. The decision has been taken to make changes to rule 25 of the Contract Labour Central
Rules. Now every contract worker will be entitled to get Rs. 10,000 per month.
30. GOVT TO PROVIDE RS 1 LAKH PER MONTH TO RIO-BOUND ATHLETES: Union Sports Ministry has decided to provide one lakh rupees
per month as out of pocket allowance to the sports persons under the Target Olympic Podium scheme. The fund is provided for their
preparation for the Olympics and Paralympics Games at Rio de Janeiro. 77 Indian athletes in eight disciplines have qualified for the
Olympics till date. Target Olympic Podium scheme is a sports ministry initiative under which Olympic medal prospects are funded by the
government for top class training as part of their preparations for the Games.
31. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES ASHOK DALWAI COMMITTEE FOR DOUBLING FARMERS' INCOME BY 2022: The Union
Government has recently constituted inter-ministerial committee to prepare a blueprint for doubling farmers' income by 2022. The
committee will be headed by Ashok Dalwai, Additional secretary at the Union Agriculture Ministry. Its members will include officials from
Agriculture and Food Ministries, experts from the Delhi-based National Council of Applied Economic Research and National Institute of

Mongolia. The aim of this exercise is to develop synergy and inter operability between the two armies to fight in Counter Insurgency and
Counter Terrorism environment under the United Nation mandate.
33. KERALA CARTOONIST V T THOMAS PASSED AWAY: Kerala cartoonist V T Thomas popularly known as Toms passed away due to a brief
illness. Toms created the legendary cartoon characters Boban and Molly (Bobanum Moliyum). He also named his son and daughter as
Boban and Molly.

36. JAPAN UNVEILED TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPICS EMBLEMS: Japan's Olympic organisers released the new official logos of
the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The emblems are designed by Asao Tokolo, feature an indigo-coloured check in the
design. The Olympic logo features a circular Japanese traditional checkered pattern. Below the design are the words Tokyo 2020 and under
them the five interlocking Olympic rings. The design is meant to express a refined elegance and sophistication that exemplifies Japan. 2020
Summer Olympics games are planned to be held from 24 July 2020 to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
37. ALL NEW MOBILES TO HAVE PANIC BUTTON FROM 2017: The Department of Telecommunications has stated that from next year, all
mobile phone sold in India will come with a dedicated 'panic button'. It will also have the Global Positioning System facility in it. These
facility can be used to send out a signal in case of distress. It aims to improve the safety of women and ensuring a quick response from
security agencies.

39. UNION CABINET APPROVES MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND PAPUA NEW GUINEA IN HEALTH AREA AND MEDICAL SCIENCE: The Union
Government has decided to allow States to impose and enforce stock limits on sugar in order to check the the price rise of sweetener in the
market. The decision to bring sugar under the purview of stock holding limits on dealers of sugar was taken in Union Cabinet meeting
chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. It will empower State and Central Government agencies to impose stock limits and
regulate supply, storage, distribution and trade of sugar in order to bring down sugar prices at reasonable level.
40. GOPAL SUBRAMANIUM APPOINTED AS AMICUS CURIAE TO IMPLEMENT JUSTICE RM LODHA COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS:
