In the last two decades Inhana (IN HArmony

with NAture) have tried to be the change we

wanted to see. When we found that dominant
science and technology served the interests of
powerful, we left unscientific input based
chemical farming and even worse, substitution
based organic farming to establish the Research
Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology
on the basis of an indigenous technology
developed by Dr P. Das Biswas which we term as
Rational farming Technology. In the race of
globalization where international agro research
and development corporations wants to patent
seeds, crops or life forms, our effort was to
protect biodiversity and promote Scientific
organic farming. The brilliance of this technology
is that this technology is equally effective in
addressing the aspects of climate resiliency with
energy
efficiency,
ensuring
resource
regeneration eventually leading to Sustainable
Climate SMART agriculture.

Inhana Rational Farming Technology on one

hand serves to restore the living micro entities
of the soil system by creating a favorable
environment for their natural and speedy
proliferation and this is done through
application of high quality Novcom compost,
which has a huge presence of self-generated
micro flora population, a unique biodegradation
process, which enables production of good
quality and highly charged Novcom compost
(average microbial population varying in the
order of 1016 c.f.u., which is at least 104 time
higher than population recorded in case of any
other type of compost) within a short period of
21 to 30 days from almost all types of
biodegradable organic matter. On the other
hand Inhana Rational Farming Technology also
aims at revitalization of the plant system
through application of different potentized and
energized botanical solutions for supplying the

Dr. P. Das Biswas

the
organization in order to
bring forth a viable
alternative
to
the

Pollution and Food Toxicity. His in-depth
knowledge and research on Vedic Philosophy
and its logical sublimation with Modern
Science almost over two decades led to the
understanding of synergistic relationships
among all natures processes. He concluded
that the necessary effective alternative could
only be Organic but for Successful Nonchemicalized crop production the reductionist
approach or Input Substitution has to be
bartered for a Comprehensive Pathway or
Package of Practice.
required energy components. An activated
plant physiology necessarily provides the power
of self- nourishment and better defense against
pest and diseases. The Road Map came from
Element-Energy Activation (E.E.A) Principle
through which the various solutions were
developed for specific Energy requirements of
the plant system. When even chemical
agriculture with its heavy dose of soil inputs and
loads of various other agrochemicals fails to
deliver the so called sustainability, simple
substitution of these inputs by biological or
herbal counterparts cannot provide the same.
The true alternative must be searched not only
in the inputs but in the thought process. This
was the inspiration behind the journey of the
Founder Director of Inhana Biosciences and
Developer of Rational Farming Technology.

A Passionate Team Members work In

Harmony with Nature
Inhana is having a group of highly technical
personnel, who have high qualifications in the
various branches of Agricultural Science. They
do not have merely formal working relationship
with Inhana Biosciences, but are the members
of Inhana Family. Each member of the Inhana
family is committed to advocate, explain and
interpret the science of agriculture or science of
organic farming, which they have learnt during
their study. They carefully explain the necessity
for effective functioning of ecological systems in
the self-dependent, self-sufficient agriculture.
Science is necessary to ensure that organic
agriculture is healthy, safe and ecologically
sound. The technical managers of Inhana
Biosciences give the road map for the
ecologically and economically sustainable
agriculture in the light of True Science.

Mission Organic reality.

Journey towards

The year was 1998,when Phalguni Das Biswas left his

pharmaceutical world to join a group of people searching
the ultimate truth from the realm of Indian Vedas. The
realization that every component is designed to perform
in an individual, interrelated and integrated manner for
the benefit of one and all; which is beyond the
interpretation of compartmental knowledge. led him
towards an in depth study with the ultimate objective of
finding effective solutions for the present agricultural
world, which was floundering due to gradual depletion in
soil and crop productivity post adoption of chemical
farming practice. In the process he developed organic
formulations for selected unresolved problems of
agriculture like disease management, efficient potash
uptake etc .Eventually he founded INHANA, the name
being derived from the concept IN HARMONY WITH
NATURE.
The journey began with Tea, understanding that TEA is
the most difficult crop for organic conversion due to
several limitations. Eventually over the next few years a
Complete Package of Organic Practice (Inhana Rational
Farming Technology - IRF) was developed, which

emphasized that organic agriculture is not only a Holistic,

but an equally Scientific Practice, which will be widely
accepted only if it provides economic sustainability.
Started in Tea with only 60 hec. (10% of total garden) in
Jalinga T.E. the highly positive results ensured that the
entire 650 ha plantation of Jalinga Tea Estate was put
under INHANA BIOSCIENCES in the very next year. In 2008
Inhana Biosciences was outsourced by Maud Tea Estate
(belonging to Chamong Group of Companies, which is the
present Largest Organic Tea Producer in India) selected as
Model Organic Farm under FAO-CFC-TBI project (2008
2011); to carry out the research for Finding out an
Effective Pathway for Sustainable Organic Tea
Production. Considering that such a huge project on
organic cultivation was perhaps first in India, Inhana
Biosciences made a detailed experimental protocol where
all the available organic methods and organic inputs for
soil and plant application were evaluated in the form of
different organic Package of Practice in terms of three
criteria i.e. Crop Yield, Soil Development & Economics. An
Advisory Board was constituted with the eminent
professors from various Agricultural Universities for the
documentation and validation in most stringent manner.
Considering the challenges of resource availability 3
sustainable farming modules in agriculture for sustainable
approach towards best resource utilization was
introduced in around 2012.In order to provide a solution
to the present outcry for Crop Sustainability vis--vis the
emergent need chemical load reduction vis--vis Cost of
Production in Tea; Inhana Biosciences started an initiative
towards Pesticide Reduction in the Conventional
(chemical) Tea gardens in 2013-14 and successfully
accounted for approx. 40 lakh kg Low Chemical Teas (upto
80% chemical reduction) in Dooars and Assam; in the 1st
year itself. Pesticide load reduction programme for 55
lakh kg. And currently this year Inhanas new organic
venture in Hatikhuli will mark a new era in organic tea
management.

Inhana Organic Research Foundation (IORF) has

been formed on 2012 under The Companies Act,
1956. IORF was set up with an objective to
disseminate the fruits of research of Inhana
Biosciences among the Resource Poor Farming
Community towards Economical and Ecological
Sustainability in a time bound manner using its
comprehensive organic package i.e. Inhana
Rational Farming (IRF) Technology. IORF is
committed to reach out directly to the farming
community without the dependence on the
conventional dissemination / distribution
process in order to enable them the benefits of
cost effectiveness totally from the room of
R&D.IORF can also enter into any joint venture
with Government Bodies or authority supreme
and work on a PPP model or even as the
technology provider. At the same time the
objective of IORF is to undertake the task of
documentation
through
research
&
experiments, training and development of case
studies of both scientific and technical
inventions and innovations of new medicines
and formulae for tea and other consumable agrihorti crops.

IORF Vision..
Inhana with the potentials of Rational Farming
Technology, authenticated by the true principles
of agricultural science welcomes agriculturists
for the most successful venture in organic
farming a nature harnessed pathway, where
ecological sustainability confirms economic
sustainability.

IORF Mission
Inhana has been developed as a knowledge
repository for organic farming; accept the sole
responsibility of growing awareness in the
agricultural world of our rich heritage and the

lost understanding of nature, abandoned as

obsolete like many other valuable traditions.
Our traditional wisdom stressed a holistic
system, where the interdependence of all
animate and inanimate objects made them one
Whole and Entire Being. Inhana Biosciences
always looked into those areas where no
solutions are there or these are not conveniently
available to the masses and gives the road map
for the ecologically and economically
sustainable agriculture in the light of True
Science.
Nature is not only Holistic, it is WHOLISTIC.
Once broken down, nature cannot be returned
to its original state. Union is always superior to
division,
the
undifferentiated
to
the
differentiated.

INHANA LABORATORY - Holistic can also

be Scientific
Inhana realized the necessity of a well-equipped
own laboratory for performing different analyses
in the most scientific manner (as there has
always been a dearth of the same) for the
documentation, interpretation and to show the
interrelatedness of the various qualitative
components and how they behave in true
organic management system, which is closer to
their philosophy.

The laboratory was initiated with an objective to

analyze the various soil qualitative parameters
(physico-chemical and microbiological) for
providing effective guidelines regarding soil
management of the project areas as well as
conducting different physico-chemical and
biochemical analysis of the plant samples.
NOVCOM compost (an ideal exogenous soil
inoculation) is a crucial component of Rational
Farming Technology for the energization of soil
system. The change in soil behaviour and the
overall impact on the surrounding ecosystem, on
NOVCOM compost application are important
components for study. Hence such soil and
compost analyses are carried out regularly with
different variables for authentication of compost
quality as well as documenting the change in the
behavioural pattern of soils after specific
intervals of compost application. While
developing Rational Farming Technology Inhana
understood that so long the ambiguities of
organic farming are not cleared the smooth and
mass conversion to organic farming is not
possible.
Inhana Biosciences further ventured into the
quality testing of tea to establish the overall
quality enhancement of the end product
produced under Rational Farming Technology.

The results obtained were analyzed, correlated

and interpreted to give a clear and scientific
understanding regarding the relationship
between biochemical compounds and the
expressed tea quality along with their positive
variability under a true organic crop production
system. Nature is always holistic, organic
farming is definitely holistic but at the same
time it is also absolutely scientific and Inhana
Biosciences laboratory just validates the fact.
