Laboratory Report No. 5

CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF BULACAN AGRICULTURAL STATE
COLLEGE
1. Introduction
Campus planners need to know which areas of a campus are used for
which purpose. Therefore, they produce a map of "land use", that identifies
parts of a campus and the major activities (land use) that happen there.
Remote sensing imagery is very useful for this purpose, since we certainly
don't want to spend many weeks or months walking or driving around a
campus to map its land use. But to use remote sensing imagery effectively,
we have to be able to interpret it accurately. Land use planning allows us to
better and more effectively manage our lands and resources. It helps create
certainty for if, where, when and how development can take place.
Development map is a map that shows the types, intensities and
categories of different land uses in a particular area. Land use shows how
people use the landscape whether for development, conservation, or mixed
uses. Land management and land planning requires a knowledge of the
current state of the landscape. Understanding current land cover and how it
is being used, along with an accurate means of monitoring change over time,
is vital to any person responsible for land management. Land use plans
define where certain activities can take place and determine the effect of
human impacts on the landscape. They are also used to assign special areas
of spiritual, ecological or cultural importance for protection, and areas
designated for development.
In this Laboratory Activity, we will make Campus Development Plan of
Bulacan Agricultural State College to group the different infrastructures for
its best category and to determine the activity (land use) that happens in the
whole campus.
2. Objectives
At the end of the laboratory activity, the student aims to know how to
create campus development plan of Bulacan Agricultural State College and
to group the different infrastructures in appropriate category.
3. Methodology
To be able to know how to create a campus development plan of
Bulacan Agricultural State College, we classify and decide in which category
that the infrastructures belong and then group it in their appropriate

category. Then, we set a color in every category and fill up the attribute
tables and then finalized the interface of the map and make legends for it.

4. Results and Discussion

Figure 1. Campus Development Plan of Bulacan Agricultural State College

Figure 1. shows the Campus Development Plan of Bulacan Agricultural
State College. The infrastructures are group in different category with its
representing color. The infrastructures category for grouping are
Administration Building Complex, Auxiliary Buildings, Higher Education
Buildings, Research and Extension Buildings, Secondary Education Buildings,
Sports and other facilities and the Proposed Buildings.
5. Conclusion
The student learned how to create and arrange a campus development
plan of Bulacan Agricultural State College. Using this map, we can now easily
determine and categorized the different infrastructures in our campus.
