To Whom It May Concern,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write to submit my application for an assistant principal position. My education and leadership skills have prepared me for an assistant principal job and I am confident that I possess the skills you are looking for in your next building administrator. I have earned my bachelor of science degree in business technology support from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a masters of education degree from Westminster College, a business education certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a K-12 principal certification from Shippensburg University. Prior to my current position at Chambersburg Area Senior High School as a business teacher, I coached college football at Westminster College, Clarion University and Carnegie Mellon University for 6 years. My experiences as a college football coach and teacher have shaped my leadership ability to be able to take on considerable tasks and complete them in a professional and timely manner. During my time at Chambersburg Senior High School, I have been afforded the responsibility to lead several large projects as a novice teacher. I was asked to lead the summer school program for grades 6-12. I was responsible for creating materials to promote the summer school program, finding teachers to run the courses and create a master schedule. I also currently manage the student store, which is operated by students and open during school hours. I have been able to include autistic support, learning support, emotional support and general education students in store activities. The store is an enterprise fund and it runs as a full functioning business within the school, generating approximately $5,000 of revenue a year. I have been able to implement several new programs and events at Chambersburg Senior High School. One of my first projects was the Trojans Care Fund, which is a fund set up through our foundation and managed by the student government. It is able to provide any student who has had a life changing event occur with a gift of up to $500. The district has raised $20,000 to endow the fund and, this year alone, we have helped 13 students during a time of need. Additionally, I have helped to create a haunted house, a color dash and a reality fair. The haunted house has generated $25,000 over the past three years, which goes back to the students, clubs and charity. I also assisted with the planning and implementation of a color dash that has been able to raise money for local community projects. Finally, I assisted with a reality fair for all seniors at our high school. With the help from a local credit union, we were able to provide students with real life experiences in order to prepare them for financial responsibility after they graduate from college. As an assistant principal, I hope to be able to grow the school both academically and socially. I hope to be able to introduce new programs that will help the students in their future career paths. I also want to help teachers grow in their profession while providing valuable feedback not only during their evaluations, but on a daily basis. Thank you for taking the time to consider this application and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, David Livengood
