(1)This burner is designed and manufactured by using introduced technology.
The burner is arranged at the four corners. It is a tangential firing burner.

(2) The design of wide range coal nozzle tipfigure 1.


While pulverized coal flow by the inlet elbow of the burner a majority
of

particles of coal powder get into the outer side of the elbow in the effect

of

centrifugal forceand the clapboard in the powdered coal nozzle

primary air into

two

separate

strands, one dense, the other lean therebythe

density of the coal powder at the exit of primary air jet is increased. Since
V-mode blunt body is set in the primary air nuzzleprimary air forms a stable
backflow region in front of the V-mode blunt body to roll and absorb high
temperature flue gasplay a role of stabilizing flame.
(3)The burner jets of the four corners have a tilting link rod each. Driven
bypneumatic cyclinder, through the lever and the master linkprimary air
nozzle can tilt 20 up and down eachsecondary air nozzle can tilt 30 up
and down each. The top secondary air nozzle manually can tilt 30up, 5
down. As a boiler in servicethe temperature of the reheater can be adjusted
through burner nozzle tilting. Control of burner nozzle tilting should be
connected to CCS system. If the CCS system is not put into usage, or tilting
control step out of CCS system temporarilyin order to guarantee the

normal

operation of nozzle tilting mechanism, everyday the nozzles shall tilt one
or two times by hand operation timelyand revert back to their initial
positions.
4There are 3 layers, altogether 12 steam atomizing steady burning oil
guns in the burner windbox; Gross capability of the oil guns is 30%BMCR.
5There is 1 layer, altogether 4 mechanical atomizing ignition and warm-up
oil guns; Gross capability of the oil guns is 10%BMCR.
6Every oil gun is equipped with a set of high energy spark igniter of
20Jwhich is controlled by extent and retract mechanism when igniting.
7In order to make field erection easier and guarantee the angle of airflow
shooting into the furnace correctburner and waterwall in burner area shall
be assembled together before being sent out of the factory.

8The windbox of the burner is connected and fixed to the water wall
through bolts. The only effect of the twenty-four high strength bolts at the
center of the windbox is to fasten the windbox. The rest of bolts do not screw
tightly, so relative displacement between the windbox and the waterwall is
permitted and would absorb expansion difference between he windbox and the
waterwall in different kinds of operating conditions.
3, arrangement of the burner
he windbox of the burner is divided into several chambers by partition
plates. A nozzle is arranged on the exit of each air chamberand a secondary
air register damper on the entry of each air chamber. Top secondary air nozzle
are operated by handtilting separately. Other primary, secondary air nozzle
is synchronized with the signals given by coordinated control system, tilting
up and down by group.
4,structure of the burner
1tilting mechanism
Driven by pneumatic cylinder r, through the medium of the devices of link
mechanism and inside and outside tilting mechanism, the burner nozzle tilts.
a, Outside tilting mechanism
The function of the outside tilting mechanism arranged outside the windbox
is to convey the force moment required by the tilting of a set of nozzles.
For outside tilting mechanism left hand and right hand are different.
b, inside tilt mechanism
Inside tilting mechanism is a transition mechanism to transfer the driving
moment of the outside tilting mechanism to the nozzle. it is composed of a
90lever and a link rod holder.
For inside tilting mechanism left hand and right hand are different too.
(2)Primary chamberfigure 2
Primary chamber is mainly composed of primary air nozzle, primary air
nozzle tip, etc. Primary air nozzle

top is mounted on the front and back

mounting platesprimary air nozzle tip on the primary air nozzle. It is easy
for primary air nozzle tip to beover heat or abradedso it can be drawn out
from the burner together with the primary air nozzle to be repaired.
(3)Absorption of expansion difference of the burner
The windbox of the burner and the water wall is jointed by high strength bolts
figure 3.In operationthe windbox together with

waterwall expands

downway. The windbox is connected and fixed to the waterwall through bolts.
The only effect of the twenty-four high strength bolts at the center of the
windbox is to fasten the windbox. The rest of bolts do not screw tightly, so
relative displacement between the windbox and the waterwall is permitted and
would absorb expansion difference between the windbox and the waterwall in
different kinds of operating conditions.
(4)Windbox and door opening
The windbox is composed of three layers of inner plate, insulating layer and
outer protecting plate. The insulating layer, outer protecting plate of the
windbox of the burner and the windbox shall be assembled before leaving factory.
Door opening of the windbox consist of the door opening of inner plate and
the door opening of out protecting plate. When operating in thermal state,
the temperature of the inner door opening is the same as the temperature of
the inner wall of the windboxno expansion difference. Heat insulator is
applied on the cover of the outer door opening. When operating in thermal state,
the temperature of the outer door opening cover is difference from the inner door
opening coverand there is expansion difference, so slotted hole is opened on the
outer door opening cover.

The support of outer door opening coverfigure 4is the fixed support
point of outer door opening cover, as well as the support point of the
protecting plate of the windbox. It is connected with the inner plate of the
windbox by one side, and connected with the outer door opening cover by the
other side. For the temperature of the inside and the outside is different

from each otherangle seat is divided into segments, and one rigid support
is set at the middle of each segment, two flexible supports at the two ends
of each segment. Such structure is very important for keeping the structural
shape of the windbox and decreasing the distortion of the windbox, so it shall
be considered fullyotherwise, the flexibility of tilt mechanism would be
affected, so as to make it difficult for nozzle to tilt.
(5)Outer protecting platefigure 4
An outer protecting plate is set outside the insulating layer of the windbox
to protect heat insulator and ameliorate the appearance of the windbox.
The outer protecting plate of the windbox is inlaid into the attached plate
of the protecting plate through pressing splint of type Y. attached plate is
welded to the splint, so they are connected as one.
The joints of the attached plate and the windbox are flexibleso relative
displacement may occur between the outer protecting plate and the windbox.
Operating in thermal state, expansion difference between the outer protecting
plate and the windbox can be absorbed.
Besidesfor the parts of the projecting parts, such as buckstay joint plate
of the windbox, outside tilting mechanism, tilt nozzle cylinder bracket, the
support of actuating device of damper shaft of secondary air registeretc,
that located at the outside of the outer protecting plate, expansion and
sealing are taken into account at the places where the parts thread out of
the protecting plate.
6turning vane
In order to prevent from appearing too big eddyreduce the pressure drop
of secondary air flowameliorate flow deflection caused by airflow diverting
turning vane are set in the primary air chamber and the secondary air chamber
to make air distribution at the exit of the nozzle even.
7Secondary air register damper
Secondary air register damper is designed as inclined arrangementfull-shut

position, non-equilibrium typefigure 5.The purpose is to prevent from


water wall tube incurvating caused by furnace negative pressure at the time
of turning on or off the boiler. Once this operating condition happens, the
dampers would open

automatically with the help of the torsion produced by

the pressure difference of the two sidesa lot of air entering the hearth,
and the negative pressure inside the furnace increasing quickly. Whereas
when an explosion happens in the hearth the damper would shut off
automatically.
As a part of boiler coordinated control system and furnace security
supervisory system, the function of damper control of secondary air register
shall meet:
a, air register damper start or stop automatically according to the demand
of

starting or stopping the unit.


b, adjust opening automatically according to unit load and

charge of

fuel input into the nozzles of every layer


In order to prolong the service life of the nozzlesand do not let stop-used
nozzles be burnta certain amount of cooling air shall be introduced to the
stop-used mussles therefore, the air leak area is about 5% of the flow area
of relevant air chamber when the damper is at full-shut position.
(8)Burner lifting
In order to convenience the manufacture, shipping and installation of
the windbox, burner hanging bracket is installed. Hanging brackets can be
divided into two types, vertical type and horizontal type.
a, the hanging bracket of vertical type locates at the top of the windbox
figure 6.Hanging bracket shall be used when the windbox is being installed.
The center of the lifting hole of lug plate shall be across the Center of
Gravity of the windbox to prevent the windbox from distortion caused by bending
moment when lifting the windbox.
b, for hanging bracket of horizontal type, two beams are installed between

the buckstay joint plates of the windbox. The axis of the lug plats for lifting,
which stretch from each beamacross the Center of Gravity of the windbox,
also can prevent the windbox from distortion caused by bending moment when
lifting.
(9)Packaging and shipping of the burner
In order to prevent the burner from distortion in the process of
transportation, special packaging device is set for the burner drawing
number 680197BT - E1 - 01 and 680197BT - E1 - 02.
In order to prevent from damage by bumping in the process of transportation
oil gun, high-energy spark igniting gun and extent and retract mechanism,
pneumatic cylinderburner inlet elbow, etc are packaged and leave factory
separately.
5, other caution notes for installing the burner
1since the burner's big volume and windbox structure the burner is
easy to be knocked and broke. so before integral installationmounting steps
shall be considered carefully, so as to avoid that the burner can not be
installed well because of misarranging the steps, and avoid damages caused
by lifting inappropriately.
2for lifting the burner, only the lug plate on the top hanger of the
windbox and the lugs of the two horizontal hanging beams can be used, and it
is fobbiden to hang at other positions of the burner with wire ropes or chains.
3after the burner is lifted in place, the two horizontal hanging beams
shall be cut off according to the drawingsee drawing 680197 - E1 - 01
02and the reinforcing plate shall be amended. Attention shall be paid that
do not cut or break the buckstay joint plates, so as to avoid affectting the
expansion of the windbox when it operating in thermal state.
4after the positions of the burner and the waterwall have been determined
completely and they have been connected with the inclined pull plate of the
buckstay barweld the square locating plate located at the place of pin roll

properlythen,fix the inside upper, lower seal plates of the secondary air
register damper wellsee figure 680197 - E1 0304.
5installing pulverized coal pipes shall be started with coal grinding
milland finished by connecting with primary air pipe. When connecting the
pipes, the centre of the air pipe shall be found and verified separately in
advanceand it is forbidden to force a connectingor start to install
reversedly the pipes from here
6After the burner installation is finished, check whether the primary
air nozzle is at the central site of the air chamber at the same time of
adjusting the actual angle of the nozzles. Attention: the weight of nozzle
and nozzle tips shall be transfered to the partition plate of the windbox
throughthe front and back support plate. the condtion that any support plate
does not bear weight shall be avoid,andeventually the weight

is beared by

the inner protecting plate at the back of the burner.


(7)After the oil guns are installed, the position of each Limit Switch shall
be checked one by one, so as to avoid damage or not able to signal as required
caused by the switch positions mismatching air cylinder stroke.
(8)In order to prevent the stop-used nozzles from overheatthere should be
cooling air in each air chamberso it is a design requirment to leave a gap
while the secondary air damper is completely shutand it shall not be closed
off artificially.
9If it is found that the safety pin of the nozzle gtilting mechanism is
brokenfirstly, shall find the reason and clear the fault. then, readjust
the tilting cylinder to make the pinholes of the two levers arms aligning
and change a new safety pin.

B, steam atomizing oil gun of the extent and retract type and
mechanical atomizing oil gun

1, description
1 layer4 oil gunsof mechanical atomizing oil guns of the extent and
retract type used for ignition and warming furnace is set in the burner, and
those oil guns can be used to warm the furnace, and to boost pressure.
3 layers12 oil gunsof steam atomizing oil guns of the advance and retreat
type used for ignition and steadying combustion are set in the burner. Those
oil guns can be used to ignite adjacent coal

nozzles and steady the

combustion.
The oil guns and the extent and retract mechanism are purchaced from xcc
products. See the relevant materials provided by the manufacturer of the oil
guns for the details of installation, use and maintenance requirements of the
oil guns and extent and retract mechanism.
Rating of the oil gun is 1.75t/h.
2, operation
In spite of the content provided by control system and its attached
featuresfollowing basic rules are always applicable:
(1)Before boiler start up
a, purge the furnace at least five minutes
b, check the positions of the fan and the damper regulator to make sure
that whether their movement in the whole range is correct.
(2)When burning oilkeep oil viscosity4E.
(3)Guarantee that H.E.S.I are operating normally. Always use an H.E.S.I
device to ignite an oil gun. It is forbidden to use a burning oil gun to ignite
another oil gun.
(4)Arranging the position of the secondary air register damper correctly
will help the reasonable distribution of secondary air of damper control
assisting air chambers and oil air chambers.
(5)Before insert the oil gunscheck the assembly of nozzle atomizer plates
and make sure that permanent connection shims are in place. then, open the

oil valveand watch whether the fire is in time with the naked eye when igniting
light oil. If it is not lit or the combustion is not steady, shall close the
oil valve, disassembly the oil gun, and check it. The oil gun cannot be ignited
again until the unfired reason is found and the fault is cleared.
6Shall be careful when igniting in black furnaceand observe the
situation of oil combustion carefully. In the meantimeun burned oil may be
carried away and cling to heating surfacereleasing fuel gas and gathering
soot carbon. Faulty combustion condition may

appear as

a, unsteady fire
b,

the tail of flame emits black smoke

c, there is distinct smoke at the exit of the furnace.


Imperfect combustion reason may be
a, the parts of the oil gun nozzle have coked because of cleaning
inadequately;
b, misdistribution of secondary air caused by that the damper of
oil chamber does not located at the optimum position
c, other reasons.
3, metal hose
In order to accommodate the demand of oil guns extent and retract and
the expansion of the boiler in thermal statemetal hose shall be used to joint
the oil guns and the oil tubes. Metal hose shall be installed according to
the drawingsand the metal hose shall not be bent or twisted too much.
Metal hose shall be checked in operating process. If it is found that the
metal hose leaks, the metal hose shall be renewed in time. Even if the metal
hose does not leak, sampling inspection shall be performed on the metal hose
every 2 years, and hydraulic test of 6.0MPa shall be performed on sampling
hose.

High energy park igniter( H.E.S.I) and extent and retract

mechanism

The H.E.S.I gun and the extent and retract mechanism are the ignition
devices for starting up and igniting oil guns. Energy storage of high energy
igniter is 20J.The xtent and retrac mechanism of oil gun and H.E.S.I gun is
a combined type.
The installation position of the top of H.E.S.I is very important for
ignition, so it shall be oriented and located according to the requirements
of the manufacturer exactly.

Fuel oil system


The fuel oil system consists of the components of pipes, primary

instruments, valves, etc. Its function is mainly about protecting and


monitoring the media in the fuel oil system working at normal pressure, flow
capacity and temperature, and meeting the requirements of FSSS and CCSsee
figure 501730 - E1 06. Specify briefly as follows
1, system parameters
A layer of oil guns of light oil used for warming the furnace is set in the
burner. This oil guns is the type of mechanical atomization. The gross
capability of 4 oil guns can be 10%BMCRand the maximum discharge is about
7t/hevery furnaceand the oil pressure of the inlet of the main fuel oil
pipe is 3.5MPa. H.E.S.I is used to ignite oil guns. Energy storage of the
ignition device is 20J. steam purging is used for oil guns, and the steam
pressure is 0.7 1.2Mpa.
Four layers of hervy oil guns used for igniting coal powder and
combustion-supporting are set in the burner. The atomization mode is steam
atomization, and the requirement for fuel-viscosity is that the viscosity in
front of the oil gun4Eso it shall be heated according to practical
situation. The capacity of the system is designed as 30BMCR of the load of
the boiler, the maximum discharge is about 21t/hevery boilerand the oil
pressure at the inlet of the main fuel oil pipe is 1.8MPa.The temperature of
atomization steam is 210-250and the pressure is 0.7 - 1.2MPa.

2, primary instrument
The setting values of the parameters of the primary instruments,
including press switches, temperature switchesetcis determined according
to the requirement of steam atomization. Their key functions are pressure
allowance, draining oil by the relief valve, low pressure alarm, low pressure
trip, leak-off test, etc.
3, valve
The valves of this system include fuel oil shut off valve, control valve,
oil return shut off valve, shut off valves in front of an oil gun, and other
manual valves. Their functions are as follows
The key functions of the fuel oil fast valve are realizing MFT, shuting
off fuel for boiler shutdown, and opening fuel for ignition
Three-valve manifold in front of an oil gun are composed of a fuel oil
shut off valve, an atomization

shut off valve and a shut off valve, and they

have four functions of putting the oil gun into service, atomizing, bpurging,
and stopping the oil gun
Certain oil return flow shall be guaranteed before putting an oil gun
into service.

2, control of the damper of perimeter air

The opening of the damper of perimeter air is a function of the rotation


speed of the associated coal feederwhich is shown in the above figure
Note100% rotation speed of the coal feeder is the rotation speed of
the coal feeder while 4 mills are running and boiler output is BMCR.
3, Control of the damper of secondary air

The secondary air damper regulates the pressure difference P between


the air in the windbox and the flue gas at the exit of the furnace.P is a
function of boiler load.

4, control of the opening of the over fire air damper


The opening of the over fire air damper is a function of boiler load, and
for OFAII, the opening become larger gradually from 75%MCR to 100%MCR complete
opening.

5, control of the air damper of oil gun layer is shown in the following figure
a. Heavy oil gun layer ABCDEF is shown in the following figure

Oil pressure %
When oil pressure is 20% of the oil pressure of oil gun maximum output
the opening of the air damper is 10%. As the oil pressure becomes higher, the
opening of the air damperr damper becomes larger. While the oil pressure
reaches 50%the air door opens completely.
b.light oil gun layer BC is shown in the following figure:

When oil pressure is 70% of the oil pressure of oil gun maximum output

the opening of the air damper is 10%. As the oil pressure becomes higher, the
opening of the air damper becomes larger. While the oil pressure reaches 90%
the air door opens completely.
(1)When oil guns are being put into service, in the process of cold start-up
of the boilerthe air damper of an oil gun layer shall open to a certain
position after the third oil gun of the four oil guns of the same oil gun layer
put into service. then the opening of the damper change along with the oil
pressureand the opening of the air damper of the oil gun layer is a function
of fuel oil pressure.
(2)purging shall be performed for 3-6 minutes after the oil guns are shut off
and stop running. Then, the air damper of the oil gun layer is put into service
as a secondary air damper (change to P control).
(3) If the primary chamber adjacent to the oil gun layer is also running

Description
1. Each air damper is controlled based on layerIf it is manually operated
each layer can be controlled separately.
2. When the boiler is being started and the oil guns of first layer being
ignited, the damper can be opened after the oil gun of the third corner
is ignited.
3. Perimeter air of this layer can be opened in 50 seconds after coal
pulverized jet to furnaceand it is closed in 50 seconds after coal
pulverized is stopped.
