With reference cited, I am very happy to share the Ph.D. (Category-B) Regulation and U.G.C.
(Minimum standards and procure for awards of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulation 2009 with you and
follow the same.
I. Course Work:
After having been admitted, each Ph.D. scholar shall be undertaken course work for a
minimum period of one semester. The course work shall be treated as pre Ph.D. preparation and
must include a course on research methodology which may include quantitative methods and
Computer Applications. It may also involve reviewing of published research in the relevant field. It
shall decide the minimum qualifying requirement for allowing a scholar to proceed further with the
writing of the thesis. In this connection, your guide will prepare the Syllabus and conduct the
examination and evaluation and same has to be submitted to the R & D Centre, Bharathiar
University for further evaluation. Necessary certificate will be issued by the R & D Centre.
II. Publication:
During the research period, the scholars shall publish at least one research paper related to
his/her Ph.D. thesis in a referred journal/ SCI journals for science subjects before the submission of
the Synopsis Review Committee along with the following Certificate with a reprint(s). The same will
be audited/verified. If any default found in future it will be affected the award of Ph.D. Degree.

III. Attendance Requirements:

The scholars are required to have put in a minimum of 30 contact days in each year
of his/her Ph.D. programme directly under Research Supervisor, in one / two/ three spells.
The Research supervisor should certify in this regard.
The Research Scholar must maintain a record or diary of work done which shall contain the
details of work assigned - discussion, attendance, etc. and the same shall be attested by the
supervisor. This diary copy shall be presented at the time of annual review of the progress of the
research by the Doctoral Committee and the same has to be submitted along with the Annual
Report to the R & D Centre, Bharathiar University.
