Course Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explain the basic concepts in mechanical design and use computeraided engineering software to solve engineering design problems [PO1,
LO1]{C2}.

Analyze using the application of computer-aided engineering analysis

to design the simple mechanical components which would be
integrated into a mechanical system [PO1, LO1]{C4}, [PO3,LO3,SS1]
{C4, A4}, [PO4,LO2]{C4}.

Organize effectively within a design team and with a community at

large [PO2, LO2]{P4}, [PO8,LO6,SS4]{A4}.
Course Description:
This course deals with the design process and the use of computer-aided
engineering software as an approach to design and analyze mechanical
engineering problems. The design process is introduced and a team structure
is used to design a mechanical device, machine, or system that performs the
desired tasks or functions. The team plans and executes design tasks such as
preparing detailed drawings and specifications, and/or producing a prototype.
The project is chosen such that it incorporates most of the knowledge and
skills acquired throughout the program of study.
