SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
TheTimberMatic09series is the brand new automation
system for E-model harvesters and forwarders. For the first
time it is now possible to control all the machine functions with
just one program.
John Deere has further developed the CommandCenter
applicationwithTimberMatichardwareasalowlevel
forwarder control system without a PC. The CommandCenter
with a simpler user interface is designed for user
environments where user-specific settings are not required
and where PC data transmission or GIS applications are not
required.
TimberMaticisadigitalcontrolsystem.Itsarchitectureis
based on CAN (Controller Area Network) bus technology and
distributed control.
The CommandCenter user interface with the new features will
be available in the new E-series forwarders from the
beginning of the serial production of each E-series forwarder
model.
NOTE: The CommandCenter user interface is not compatible
with D-model forwarders.

GENERAL

SYSTEMARCHITECTURE

CAN BUS
TimberMaticsystemwithCommandCentercomprises
independent intelligent controllers which "talk to each other"
using the CAN bus J1939. This allows a clear, modular
architecture, simple wiring and multi-function diagnostics in
various situations.
The system consists of the following units.
l
l
l
l
l
l
l
l
l
l

ECU (engine controller)

TRC (transmission controller)
FRC (frame controller)
BOC (boom controller)
CAB (cabin controller)
ACL (left arm rest controller)
ACR (right arm rest controller)
SSC (secondary steering controller)
VTC (display controller)
DTI (display)

All the E-model controllers are identical except for the ECU
and require only one spare part code (separate code for
ECU). Disconnection of one controller does not affect the
functionality of other controllers.
A separate laptop with Windows XP, Service ADVISOR (SA)
software, a Service ADVISOR EDL/EDL2 (USB-CAN adapter)
and TimberMatic F09 software (SA compatible) will be always
required to make the transmission, boom and cabin functions
fine adjustments (ramps, progressions, damping and
calibration), and controller software loading. The Service
ADVISOR and TimberMatic F09 (SA compatible) software as
well as other accessories mentioned above are only available
for dealers.
