are the primary production companies who made
the movie.
00:34 01:00 The Treaty of Treason is displayed, explaining the rules of the
hunger games/giving context to the situation. This establishes the narrative, in
order for the audience to understand the situation and setting (as the movie is
dystopian, thus is set in an unfamiliar society).
01:01 01:04 In the final title, the phrase The Hunger Games is used. At this
point, all surrounding text disappears, leaving only these three words the title
of the film. This suggests to an audience that the film is to start, and again
reinforces the identity of the film. All titles use a serif font, which connotes to
lighter themes, thus juxtaposing the content of the text. This establishes
narrative, implying that the attitudes of the individuals (later known to be the
Capitol citizens) is that the hunger games are purely games.

01:05 01:34
Following the initial titles, two characters are introduced, shown to be in an
interview setting. The costume and setting in which they are placed connotes to
a high class, and the nature of their dialogue (a discussion of the hunger
games) implies authority for example, one character tells the other than it is
his third year as head gamemaker, thus providing the audience with
information and establishing character. This supports the previous attitudes
represented towards The Hunger Games, as they are displayed to view such
brutal games as a form of enjoyment,
which knits them all together.

01:35 01:37
The final title is displayed to introduce a new setting district 12. This links to
the districts previously mentioned in both titles and dialogue, thus establishing
narrative in a systematic and structured manner which will allow the audience to
understand the context of this dystopian society. The title of district 12 is
displayed in bold capital letters, connoting to a serious tone. This further links to
the image shown, which displays a long shot of the setting. The area is evidently
rural, with poorly built wooden huts (which can be assumed are houses). This
juxtaposes the previous scene, establishing to the audience that the setting of
district 12 is vastly different to that of the upper class Capitol, and is affected
by the hunger
games in a highly
negative manner.

Summary:
The Hunger Games evidently uses titles in order to inform an audience and
provide them with foreknowledge about the movie. This understanding of the
dystopian society in which the movie is set enables them to later engage fully
with the movie, whilst also providing the exposition of the story prior to the
movie beginning. There are, however, no titles surrounding other production
companies involved, nor of the cast/crew. This is unconventional, but seemingly
allows an audience to instantly engage with the narrative, rather than sitting
through titles which are not of interest or relevance to the plot. I can consider
using similar techniques within my production, as a method of establishing
narrative, which would be beneficial due to the complexity of my storyline.
