The College of Engineering has several specific requirements for admission.

Students with 15 or more hours must meet the following GPA criteria:
All students must have attempted at least:
> One college level English course
> 3.0 in all college level work attempted
> One Calculus-based Math
> 3.0 in all college level Calculus-based Math courses attempted
> 3.0 in all Natural Science courses attempted that apply to any Engineering Degree

> One Science from any Engineering degree plan

> 3.0 in all Engineering courses attempted

> 2.5 in all college level English courses attempted
International students must meet TOEFL requirements of 550 written, 213 computerized or 79-80 internet base unless exempt. TOEFL exemptions: earned a high school
diploma, Associates of Art, Associates of Science or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. high school, college or university.
# All Engineering students must take ENGI 2304 at the University of Houston; this course may be used for Writing in the Disciplines requirement.
* Mechanical majors should take a drafting course. Contact the Advisor in the department to find out which course will be equivalent. This requirement waived for students
who completed one year of mechanical drawing or general drafting in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
^ University Physics lecture and laboratory courses may be taken as a unit or as separate courses. Civil and Electrical require one or more physics labs in their degree plan.
^^ Electrical, Computer & Chemical Engineering majors must take TCCNS ECON 2302; this course also counts for your Social/Behavioral core requirement.
Full time students should contact an advisor in Engineering after Calculus I is completed because of the need to begin specific course sequences in the major.
A maximum of 66 hours (grades C- or better) of 1000/2000 level transfer hours may be applied toward a UH degree.
*TEXAS UNDERGRADUATE IN-STATE TUITION ENROLLMENT CAP*
Students enrolling at a Texas public university or community college for the first time will be affected by the enrollment cap. There is now a limit on the number of hours those
students may attempt while paying in-state tuition. For details, please see the following website: http://www.uh.edu/provost/stu/stu_enrollcapqs.html
