Is Bow Hunting Really Safe in Our City Parks?

The large majority of our hunters hunt from a tree stand, anywhere from 15 to 20
in the air. This gives them a broad range of vision to see anything coming into
range. Their shots are towards the ground and any missed shot goes into the
ground. Even for those hunters hunting from the ground, the trajectory of the
arrows puts it into the ground within 60 to 70 yards.

Safety of Bow Hunting

In 1995 the National Safety Council researched the likliehood of someone being
injured seriously enough to require emergency room treatment. They found that
several other common sports were much more likley to cause injury than hunting.
These statistics include all types of hunting, such as hunting with a firearm. Park
hunters are hunting with bows and crossbows only.
