SECTION1:Findings
Congressmakesthefollowingfindings:
1) CommonCorehasbecomewidelyunpopular,especiallyamongteachers.(I,
II,VIII)
2) SupportforCommonCorehassignificantlydroppedamongbothliberaland
conservatives.(III)
3) CommonCoreisaninconsistentcombinationof(a)overlyspecificstandards
thatinvasivelydictatestatecurriculumsand(b)standardsthatarevagueand
subjectiveonwhatistobeaccomplishedinthefirstplace.Suchsubjective
standardsarestillspecificallytested,puttingincreasedpressureon
educators.(V)
4) Althoughcurrentteachingmethodsprovideacomprehensiveperspective,it
assumesthatonespecificmethodisthebestmethodforallchildren.(IV)
Restrictedmethodsofteachingofcertainconcepts(especiallymath)isa
largesourceofoutrage.(VII)
5) CommonCoreassumesagovernmentatthenationallevelisbetterinformed
ontheeducationalneedsthanlocalcommunitiesandseekstorevokethe
abilityofstatesandlocalorganizationstospecializeitsneeds.(IV)
6) Additionallysomestateshaveeducationalprogramsthatprovedtobe
extremelyproficientinthepast,butdonothavetheflexibilitytouseprevious
aspectsoftheircurriculuminordertoeffectivelyadapttothenewer

7) Asaresult,manystatesareoptingoutofCommonCore,hastilyestablishing
systemsthatareevenmoreflawedthanthecurrentone.(IX)

SECTION2:Purpose
Nothingismoreimportantforthefutureofournationthanthenextgenerationof
Americans.Thisiswhyitisimportanttoensurethatourstudentsreceivethebest
possiblequalityofeducationbyequippingyoungmindswiththetoolstosetthem
onthepathforsustainableemployment,andprovidingstabilitytothefutureofthe
economy.Asaresult,thisbillaimsto:
a) RevisetheCommonCorestandardstobecomemoreefficientandconciseto
providethemostcomprehensiveandefficienteducationsystemforour
children.
b) ImprovetheCommonCorestandardstoallowmoreflexibilityforeducators
sothatstateshaveanincentivetostaywithinthesystem.

efficienteducationsystemforourchildren.

Asetofstatelededucationalstandardsthatestablishesanationaleducation
guideline.Thisisnottobeconfusedwithacurriculum.Ineffecthowever,these
guidelinesmandatestatecurriculums.
