Learning to be- The aim of development is the complete fulfillment of man and his development in a holistic way
as an individual, member of a family and community and as a responsible citizen.
According to Alvin Toffler
The illiterate of 21st century will not be those who can not read or write but those who can not learn ,unlearn and relearn
Person's complete development - mind and body, intelligence, sensitivity, aesthetic appreciation and spirituality. All people should
receive in their childhood and youth an education that equips them to develop their own independent, critical way of thinking and
judgement so that they can make up their own minds on the best courses of action in the different circumstances in their lives.

Educational Experiences : Aesthetic, Social , Moral, Spiritual, Logic and reasoning
*Learning to know: First we as teachers need to learn to understand the world around, and feel the desire to explore more, and
research etc. so that our intellectual curiosity starts growing, once curiosity grows that desire to explore take us to develop our
creativity thru the analysis and reasoning and pondering on a matter or something that we have started to know. How may we
develop more these senses of intellectual curiosity, creativity and analysis in us and in the students, there are many chances
some of which I have experienced as a student, some could be by applying games, visits, trips, practical works and investigations
to enrich our lives as teachers and enlighten and enrich the lives of our students to help them be well prepared to face the
changes of the professional and personal life.
Learning to know: Each person, understand the world around him, so less likely to acquire domain knowledge to themselves
instruments of knowledge. Stresses the importance of research and suggests that cooperation is made from. Elaborates on the
fact to learning emphasizing issues such as proposed selective memory and associative, the attention of perception should open
and helpful in nature and thought from his perspective that indicates deductive and inductive (concreteness and abstraction).
Finally note that the acquisition of knowledge is an endless process that remains while experiencing life.
This means teachers, must commit on making students to get involved on discovering each one as individuals. As teachers we
must get and include a small part of each of the four pillars in our classrooms, to create an environment where children can feel
safe and comfort with their learning. It is in fact important to conclude that no construction can be well done if the basis or pillars
are not strong enough to stand firm for long time. Just as our kids need to have strong values and learnings on their first stages
of life so when they grow up can become better people for our world.
2. a. John Dewey, lauded as the 'Modern Father of Experiential Education,' was a forward educational philosopher whose ideas still
influence education today. His approach of learning by doing is practiced in classrooms around the world and has changed the
way educators present knowledge and students learn. (insert copy)
b. TO UNDERSTAND IS TO DISCOVER, OR RECONSTRUCT BY REDISCOVERY, AND SUCH CONDITIONS MUST BE COMPLIED WITH IF
IN THE FUTURE INDIVIDUALS ARE TO BE FORMED WHO ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCTION AND CREATIVITY AND NOT SIMPLY
REPETITION" Piaget described the role of a teacher as a facilitator and guide that could stimulate thinking. The role of the teacher
is no less important in a student centred classroom, it takes on a different purpose. Knowledge transference and group

assessment is replaced with individual assessment based on developmental appropriate methods and creating an environment of
inquiry and collaboration (Piaget, 1972). This type of environment allows students to learn from making mistakes as opposed to
being penalized for them.
In active learning, the teacher must have confidence in the child's ability to learn on his own. ctive learning gives children the
freedom to explore, manipulate, and experiment with their environment to construct their own understanding about the world
around them. I would like for this to be the basis of my school. This gives the children the ability to take control of their own
learning. The teachers job is to help guide them down the right path and fuel their creativity. By letting children construct their
own meaning, it forces them to use their brain and think for themselves. In my experience in schools, the teachers spoon feed
the students everything. The children sit in desks and passively learn all day. The children lose the ability to think for
themselves, probably because they are afraid of being wrong, and lack the motivation to try. I see this happening even in the
college classes I am in now. The teachers waste days on walking us through how to write papers or give presentations. If you do
not know how to do these things by the time you are in college, there is a problem. I want to be in class learning about the
subject of the class, not wasting time being spoon fed concepts that can be figured out for oneself if they were not learned in
high school. In Knoxville, there used to be a place called Sprout. Sprout was an indoor play zone for children. It was amazing.
They had a stage with costumes so the children could dress up and put on plays or puppet shows. They had an art area with pant
and crayons and all the materials needed for children to make beautiful artwork. They had an area set up with lots of stuffed
animals and doctor toys for the children to be doctors or vets. There was a water area where the children could fish or just splash
around in the water. There was an area with small cars and bikes for them to drive around, a block area for them to build
anything they wanted, a store for them to shop, a kitchen and house for them to explore, two play sets with slides, ladders, and
ways to make music, and more. I loved taking the children that I babysat there. They would play for hours exploring their
environment. Everything was kid-sized and just right for them so they did not need any help. I want my school to be some form
of this. I want it to be a big play ground where the children want to come to learn and express themselves. Learning should be
fun. The environment should be thought provoking and inspire the children to want to learn. This may seem chaotic and crazy,
but I think that if it is structured in the right way, it could lead to a great learning experience.
c. When we are kids people take care of us. They take responsibility. But to become an adult and not just a kid in a grown ups
body one has to take responsibility for oneself. There is no other way. Sure, letting someone else take the responsibility may be
easier on you. But without taking responsibility for yourself how can you be free? How can you really live up you own potential
and dreams? It can be hard to break out of the comfort zone of having other people taking responsibility for us. But if you dont
then you will be trapped by other peoples standards, expectations and limitations. You have to set your own rules for your life. A
bit scary. But also liberating.

3. Yes. As a humanist I believe in the equal worth of all human beings. My humanist sentiments open my eyes to the problem of
global poverty, the pervasiveness of patriarchy and the dangers of extremism. I am a 21st century humanist. A 21st century
humanist recognizes the fact that no person, regardless of race, gender, nationality or *age*, deserves to suffer morbidity and
mortality. And thus we ought to aspire to reduce these risks when it is feasible to do so, whether it be by providing access to clear
drinking water, bed nets to protect against malaria or developing new drugs that re-programmed our metabolism and help
protect against chronic diseases.
Individualism- We are living in a world that is changing constantly, however our individuality is what separates us from others.
There are many countries that have been built upon this idea including the powerful United States of America. Slogans of the US
included land of the free and land of the great. This is still what most americans think, and they're probably right. American's for
example have the right of speech and the right to vote who is going to be in charge of their country. It is individualism that gives
people an identity to hold on to and is what inspires people to do great things. Karl Marx is one of the key thinkers behind the
idea of "Communism" and a social thinker. He however believes that everyone should have an equal amount of everything as
everybody is entitled to it. There shall be no dictatorship and everybody is able to project their own voice and their thoughts to be
implemented in the building of a society or anything that involves a group. Some countries have attempted to have this
incorporated into their own government structure or completely change their countries way. For example china has been though
this as it was a communist country trying out the ideas of equality and seeing it if it truly works as it is written. As you may know
not everything written can come true and that is the exact thing that happened to china. It did not become a country of equality
but instead people have taken over the government that poverty has skyrocketed. It is almost turning into a socialist country.
Individualism is what's supposed to help in these types of situations and you as an individual should be able to project your
thoughts on the government. That's not the case now but may happen in countries all over the world in many years to come.

Learner
Individual is to be given unrestricted freedom and only then his harmonious development will take place.
The checks on the child are also to be natural. The naturalists advocate discip line by natural consequences.
A danger that the child may harm himself and cause worry to the parents.
Teacher
Extreme naturalists ignore teacher; because teacher will interfere with the development of a child.
If the teacher is to be there, let him design situations which help in the inculcation of right type of habits in the children.
As a director of activity, the teacher should not overdo his role or overact his role. 4. Naturalism in Education

Curriculum
Child centered according to the present and future needs of the child
Curriculum divided under two stages
i. Earlier stage : Sensory training ii. Later stage : Subjects are include in the curriculum through activities and occupations like
physical sciences, language, mathematics, manual work, trade, moral education, etc. 4. Naturalism in Education

Naturalism in Education
1st to gain knowledge and all the wants and needs of a child are to be fulfilled
2nd to provide the child with the strength that the child lacks of the ability of being free
3rd to enable the child to acquire useful knowledge which would satisfy the childs wants Aims
Naturalism in Education The aim of education is to develop the child emotionally and morally according to the childs needs
4. Education should help in inculcating a spirit of empathy in students so that it can have a positive effect on their social
behaviour throughout their lives. Understanding each other, resolving conflicts through dialogue and discussion should be the
essential tools of present day education. People of the world should accept their differences but start working on the basis of their
commonalties for the survival of humankind.
teachers are fundamental agents of social change, and thus also play a fundamental role in promoting LTLT in the classroom. As
critical role models for their students, teachers who can themselves demonstrate competencies such as empathy,
communication, leadership, and teamwork through participatory and collaborative teaching approaches are more likely to impart
these competencies to learners. At the same time, the findings show a gap in teacher knowledge and support for the transfer of
LTLT competencies in classroom settings, which indicates the need to further embed and promote LTLT in pre- and in-service
teacher training.
People should learn to have values since this will help us to live better among each other , living with peace with each other no
matter to what levels of society we belong to accepting each other as we are . And as I think we all want to have a honest
political system in our country. With the concept of learning to live together is expected to overcome various conflicts that
happen in society as I said before learning to live our differences in many cultures that we may have to deal and learn about
them.
Learning to live together is fundamental to gain values for living in peace and in harmony, because it develops the
understanding of others and their history, traditions, religion etc. Basically on this pillar people learn to tolerate people and to
respect others doesnt matter their traditions, celebrations, beliefs, and thoughts. But to get this pillar we need to go through the
others three pillars because they sustain the pillar of learning to live together.
As teachers we are also responsible to help our students to develop empathy among them so that they can always show a
positive attitude towards others, this will help them to be prepared for the future to have good interpersonal relations.
Learning to be together it means to participate and cooperate with others, in this pillar education plays an important role because
it will make the difference between doing the right thing and the wrong, when the human being is able to understand diversity
and to be tolerance with others. This in this point is where we make the difference, also this approach should make us get involve
in social activities like charity ect.

Learning to live together means to participate and cooperate with the other people and I could understand that we need to
strength our educational systems around many places, since we live in a violent world.
its really important to learn to know the people around us try to understand them their culture traditions and their spiritual
values, it will help us to accept their way of living and to use to them, face challenges with enthusiasm and courage to get over
any situation .being positive thinking that we can do anything we want with Our Heavenly Fathers help, recognizing his help in
our life.
It is really important that we study to get to the practice and then get the experience to be part of our life, we need to be able to
learn each day of our life and face all the challenges that are in our way. Life is the better workshop for us but without the
knowledge we wont learn as fast as we need. This is the century of the changes and we need to be prepared for all those
changes.
5. The pillars of learning imply an educational goal in developing a learning society in a new century. The concept of learning
throughout life emerges as one of the keys to the twenty-first century and the only way of satisfying it is for each individual to
learn how to learn. The shift from 'schooling' to learning throughout life implies that school education is only part or a phase of
the learning continuum and curriculum should therefore not attempt to teach or cram the young minds with discipline-based
details, apart from the fundamental knowledge, basic skills and universal values which will prepare the pupils for further learning.
Yes because the pillars of learning points to a goal for much closer linkage between education and the world of work. This not
only concerns learning to do but other three pillars of learning as one central function of education is to prepare young learners
to be successful workers and responsible citizens in their adulthood. School curriculum can no longer be purely academic and
college-bound; it has to impart employable sills, and positive attitudes toward work, and to develop competency in adapting to
change, which is the only thing which will not change.
UNESCO identifies four pillars of education as the key for our young generation. Children should learn to be, learning to know, to
live together and learn to do. By learning to be students are expected to get to know themselves in a way where they can bring
about the best from within and work their way into becoming better human beings. Learning to know will help us understand
what we need to learn and keep our knowledge up-to-date with such a changing technology. Learning to live together nowadays
is one of the most important aspects in our society; we need to learn to accept, respect and embrace differences regardless of
gender, ethnicity, etc. We also need to learn to resolve and avoid conflict. Learning to do is the skill that helps us be the best that
we can be at what we do, learning to do it well and to precisely know the steps to make it.
6. I believe that each one of the four pillars of education is related and that one couldnt happen without the other. As Educators
and as part of a society we need to combine these four to be better as teachers as well as human being. All make the basis of a
good education. We need to give the students knowledge in order the gain the competencies they need to outstand in their
future. We must give them the tools they need to recognize the world around them, exercise their memory, attention and
thought. If they have the knowledge they learn to do, they materialize what they have in their brains; each one according to their

level and capabilities. They learn to make judgments about right and wrong so they can think critically. Also we should guide
them through the discovery of who they are, and what do they want in life, we must provide all the possible experiences so they
can reach to those answers. If they know who they are, accept and love themselves they will accept, tolerate and love others.
They will learn the importance of a persons essence; that goes beyond social class, color, education and culture. All the pillars
are part of an integral education that allows us to form human beings, that will be able to defend themselves in a world of
constant change and will make them part of a better world.
7. In learning, the initiative lies with the learners. They are seeking to discover themselves. It is a quest and a journey of selfrealisation. Teaching makes learners passive; learners become recipients of given information, rather than active explorers of
wisdom. To put it differently, teaching is fragmentary, while learning is holistic. In a learning society, even the "teachers" are
learners. Learning is a life-long process. It does not end when one leaves a school or a university. In fact, true learning begins
when life at school and university ends. Schools and universities provide formal education of limited value. Whereas, learning
from living, from doing, from making and from interacting with others is informal learning and is much more real and of far
greater importance. For a learner, everyone is a teacher. We learn from nature, we learn from people, we learn from difficult
experiences and above all, we learn from our mistakes and failures. A society that values success and despises failures is not a
learning society. A society where people are afraid to make mistakes and are afraid to fail creates timidity and cowardice. In such
a society, it is difficult to take risks and go on a journey of adventure. Such a society encourages people to take a well-trodden
path of security and predictability. In a learning society, schools and universities should be intimate, human scale and part-time.
They should be the centres of learning where people of every age and every interest can go when they want to learn either a
practical or an intellectual skill. In a learning society, artists, architects, scientists, sociologists, industrialists and people wellversed in any other discipline should be able to offer a certain amount of their time at a nominal cost to those who wish to
acquire knowledge and skill in those fields. So that, the teaching profession is not in a watertight compartment and there is no
such division of "those who can, do and those who cant, teach". The doers should be the teachers and teachers should also be
the doers. In a learning society, everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student. Two influences, similar in nature, have led me in
my own learning. One was a book by Mahatma Gandhi, his autobiography: My Experiments with Truth. From this book, I learned
that the pursuing of the inner journey should not be separated from the pursuing of the outer and social journey, because we are
not two separate beings. If we remove ourselves from the world, believing that we can follow our own individual enlightenment,
irrespective of the world around us, then that is a delusion. We must find a way of life that combines the spiritual and the social,
the inner and the outer in a balance.
