2. Getting Started
2-1. Executing XCAP Analyzer Program
1. Double-click XCAP Analyzer icon

in Desktop.

2. XCAP Analyzer program is executed, and main window appears.

2-2. General Workflow of XCAP Analyzer


1. Parse log data (Creating a new Model).

2. Open [Call Statistics] window.


3. Filter data in [Call Statistics] window (by using [Event Filtering] and [Column Setting] options).
4. Synchronize data in various analysis windows; Graph, Table, Map, and etc.

5. Investigate and analyze mobile status and network quality.


6. Publish reports.

2-3. Map Engine Setting
To display and analyze data in map screen, map engine option should be configured in advance.
XCAP Analyzer supports MIF and MapXtreme engine types.

[Selecting Map Engine]


1.

Select a map engine from main [Menu] [Tools]

[Options] [Map Property] tab [Map Engine


Setting].
2.

Changed map engine setting is to be applied after the

program is restarted.

[Importing Map File]

Click main [Menu] - [Tools] [Options] [Map

Property] tab [Map] [Map Layer Control] button.

[Layer Control] screen appears.

Click [Add] button to import corresponding map file.

2. Getting Started
2-3-1. Map Engine Setting - MIF
MIF map files have to be converted into Geo map format. Then
XCAP Analyzer loads Geo map file to display and analyze.

[Converting to Geo file]


1.

Select main [Menu] bar [Tools] [Map Manager].

[Map Manager] window appears.

3.

Drag and drop MIF map file from File List to [Selected Files]
filed.

4.

Configure a converted file name in [Map Name] entry field,


and assign storage directory by clicking icon for [Map
Name].

Click [Create].

[Displaying Geo file in XCAP Analyzer]

Open a map analysis window.

Right-click in the map analysis window, and select


[Configure] [Base Map].

3-1. Creating a New Model (1)
XCAP Analyzer converts the log files collected from XCAL DM to a Model which is an analyzable format in various analysis
types.

3. Drag and drop a log file from File List to


[Selected Files] field.
[Batch#] tab: Several logging files can be dropped
in a [Batch#] tab. Each Batch tab creates one
Model folder.

4. Select a model creation option.


[Separate]: Models are created for each log file.
[Merge]: One model is created merging several
log files. [Concurrent] option creates a model
arranging data of several log files in time base.

5. Configure [Sampling Interval]. For details, see


next page.

[Sampling Interval]: Default is set as 1 sec


displaying average of log data in 1 second time
period.

6. Click [Open].
7. Model creation is started, and processing screen
pops up while creating a new model.
8. A model is successfully created, and parameters
are activated under the analysis tabs of [Graph],
[Map], [Table], [CDF], [PDF], [Event], [Statistics].

3. Parsing Log Data


3-1-1. [Sampling Interval] Setting
Log data is listed up in accordance with Sampling Interval setting. Default is set as 1 second.

[1 sec]: Lists up time stamp in 1 second unit and each time stamp displays average log data collected for 1 second.

[All]: Displays all collected log data with their respective time stamp information.

3. Parsing Log Data


3-2. Opening Existing Model
Existing model, which is previously parsed from log data to model, can be opened in XCAP Analyzer. Without parsing log
data, existing model can be opened saving parsing time.

Click [Open] icon from main Icon bar.

Designate a model folder to open, and click [Open].

Model is opened, and parameters are activated under


each analysis tabs of [Graph], [Map], [Table], [CDF],
[PDF], [Event], [Statistics].

3. Parsing Log Data


3-3. Main Window
When model creation is completed successfully or existing model is opened, parameters are activated under the analysis
type tabs of [Graph], [Map], [Table], [CDF], [PDF], [Event], [Statistics].

Select an analysis type tab, and double-click parameter from parameter tree to open in workspace.

4. Opening Call Statistics Window


4-1. Call Statistics Window
Call Statistics window displays call result, call type, and RF parameter information of log data.
For voice call log data, open [Voice/Video Call Statistics] window.
1.

Select [Statistics] analysis type tab.

2.

Double-click [PS Call Statistics] parameter.

3.

[PS Call Statistics] window is opened in the workspace.

Call Statistics section: Detailed call information


including call result, start/end time, call type, and etc.

Summary section: Summarized call statistics of all calls

[Column Setting] option selects columns to be displayed in [Call Statistics] window.

Right-click in [Call Statistics] window, and select [Column Setting].

6-1. Range To Sync
[Range To Sync] option synchronizes data in specific range in different analysis windows.
1.

Open multiple analysis windows in different analysis types; Graph, Map, Table, and etc.

2.

Select certain data or certain range by dragging mouse.

3.

Right-click on the selected data, and select [Range to Sync]

4.

Data in identical range in different analysis windows are highlighted.

5.

To inactivate synchronization highlights, select [Range to Sync] from mouse menu once again.

7. Analyzing in Log Message Viewer


7-1. Logging Message Window
[Logging Message] window displays detailed and filtered information of log file.
1.

Click [Logging Message] icon from Icon bar, or press [Ctrl + L] buttons on your keyboard.

2.

Icons in Viewer Bar shows/hides corresponding section in [Logging Message] window.

7. Analyzing in Log Message Viewer


7-1-1. Logging Message Window - [Export]
All or filtered log packets can be exported and separately analyzed in xls, cvs, txt formats.

1.

Right-click in [All Message View] or [Filter Message] section in [Logging Message] window, and select [Export].

2.

[Message Export] window appears.

3.

Configure export options, and click [OK].

[Select Window]: All or filtered log code messages can be exported.

[Area]: Select messages to be exported; all, selected, bookmarked, range


to synced.

[Export Option]: Select message viewer sections to be included in the

exported file.

[Select Format]: Select a file format for export.

[Select Configuration]: This option is activated only when [Include Detail


Message] is selected for [Export Option]. Select where to display detail

and hexa messages in the exported file.

8-1. Monitoring KPI Parameters

8-2. Searching a Parameter

XCAP Analyzer lists up the most frequently used KPI

XCAP Analyzer offers parameter searching feature

[Favorite Info] reloads customized parameter window in the workspace. Different parameters in one analysis window

and corresponding configurations are saved as Favorite and re-opened by simply clicking a Favorite name under
[Favorite Info] tree.
[Favorite Info] supports the analysis types of Graph, Map, Table, CDF, and PDF.

Open and configure any analysis windows.

Right-click in the analysis window, and select


[Create Favorite].

[Favorite List Name] screen appears.

Enter a Favorite name. Click [OK].

[Creating a new Favorite in Favorite Manager]

Favorite list is added, edited, and deleted in [Favorite


Manager].

Open [Favorite Manager] from main [Menu] [Tools]

[Favorite Manager].

[Favorite Info] window appears.

3.

Click [New] icon at the right top corner of [Favorite List]

section.
4.

Enter a new Favorite Info name in the entry field.

5.

Drag and drop any parameters from the parameter tree at

the right top corner of [Favorite Info] window to

[Parameter] section at the bottom.


6.

Select analysis types to apply the added Favorite.

7.

Click [OK].

The new Favorite is added under [Favorite List] tree.

8-4. [Graph] Analysis (1)
[Opening multiple parameters in one Graph window]
1.

Select [Graph] tab. Double-click a parameter in parameter tree, and Graph analysis window is opened in the workspace.

2.

Drag and drop more parameters in parameter tree to the previously opened Graph window while pressing [Alt] button in
keyboard.

3.

More than two parameters are displayed in one graph window. Each parameter is displayed in graph in different colors.

[Displaying Call Event in Graph window]

window by using the mouse menu of [Call Event] and [Call Event
Filter].

Log data with GPS information can be monitored and analyzed in Map analysis window. Multiple parameters are
displayed in one Map analysis window by mouse drag and drop.
When the log file includes Site and Repeater information, it also can be displayed in Map analysis window by using [Site
Manager]. For details, refer to XCAP Analyzer User Guide.

[Copy to Clipboard]
[Copy to Clipboard] captures the currently displayed map
screen. The captured map screen is pasted the other tools or

pages.

[Binning] feature is provided to (a) divide sections in certain area in map, (b) extract representative values of each bin,
and (c) analyze the representative values of each bin in various analysis windows.

Different parameters are displayed in different symbols and colors. Map legend can be edited for easier analysis. Legend
box is shown inside Map analysis screen.

3. Select parameter from Parameter List at the left.
4. Configure symbol types and colors.
5. Click [OK].

[Configuring Offset between different parameters in Map analysis window]
When more than two parameters are displayed in one Map analysis window, offset between parameters can be configured from
main [Menu] [Tools] [Options] [Map Property] [Display Offset]. Default is set as X axis: 20 pixel and Y axis: 10 pixel.

Table analysis window lists up data in time order. Summarized statistics data including total count, min, max, average
values is displayed at the bottom.

[Exporting data in Table window]
All, selected, or synchronized to the other analysis window can be exported in *.xls format.

Right-click in Table analysis window and select [File Exporting].

[File Export] window appears.

Configure file exporting options. Click [OK].

[File Name]: Click [] button to configure file name

and designate file directory.

[Area]: Select data region to save.

CDF graph displays accumulated data; thus the latest value is shown in 100%.
PDF graph displays sum of each data; thus its total is shown in 100%.

9-1. Particular User Report
For further and detailed analysis, XCAP analyzer offers customized and automated report feature.
Various types of customized reports are created in *.xls.

Select a report type from main [Menu] [Report] (for particular users).

[Voice Call Statistics Report] window appears.

3.

Select model, designate save directory, and click [OK].

4.

Generated report file in *.xls is saved in the designated directory.

9-2. Auto Reporting
For further and detailed analysis, XCAP analyzer offers customized and automated report feature.
Report file is generated for the analysis data in Graph and Map in *.xls and *.ppt format automatically.
1. Select main [Menu] [Auto Reporting]. [Report] screen appears.

2. Click [New] icon in [Report List] section. Enter a new report name in the entry field.
3. Select analysis tab, and drag and drop parameter from parameter tree to parameter list section below.
4. Configure report options.
5. Click [Browse] button to designate save directory. Click [OK].

It is practically impossible to download files of 53 Gbytes in 23 seconds even the speed is stable. To optimize (to make it

declare Success event, put more time for Traffic Time or change download file.

is declared right after X2 HO.

1. Succeed processing Traffic stage after Setup.
2. Attempting Handover. rrcConnectionReconfiguration and rrcConnectionReconfigurationComplete are received.
3. Random Access is abnormally operated.
4. Rx Packet exists before rrcConnectionReconfiguration, but does not exist after handover.
5. RTP Drop 10 sec (Currently shown as Time Out) is declared since Rx Packet does not exist for 10 seconds.
