Strategies:

Use of:
o Problem-Solving Strategies References
ie: visual aids such as posters
o Increased use of pointed language in lessons.
ie: What is this question asking?, What info do we have?, What have we
learned that might help us with this?
o Allotment of more time for student trial before further teacher involvement
o Word Wall
For both math concepts as well as procedural and problem-solving terminology
o Alberta Education Program of Studies Exemplars

Timeline:

Ongoing
o Starting immediately, and continuing throughout for at least the next 3 years.

Goal:
Improve students understanding and application of mathematical concepts by furthering:
o Math literacy
o Problem solving skills
Indicators and Measures of Achievement:

Student feedback concerning effectiveness

Teacher feedback concerning effectiveness
Monitoring of final exam and Diploma grades (looking for increase/decrease from previous
years)
