Telangana become first state to accept e-motor insurance policies
Telangana becomes the first state in the country to legally accept Electronic motor insurance
policies. These policies can be stored and accessed on smart phones.
e-Vahan Bima: An electronic motor insurance policy issued in digital form with Quick Response
(QR) code.

Driving a vehicle without motor third party insurance is an offence under Motor Vehicle
Act 1988 as it pays for legal liability in case of any injury or damage to any third party life
or property caused by the use of vehicle in a public place.

Benefit: It will help the poor accident victims in the state and also ensure better compliance.
Gadkari announces Rs 41,000 cr road projects for Telangana
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the road
projects worth Rs 41,000 crore for Telangana, including two Express Highways from the
state capital Hyderabad to Bengaluru in Karnataka and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

He laid down the foundation stone of 4-lane of Yadgir and Warangal section of NH-202(new
NH-163) of length 99 km costing Rs 1,424 crore.

Foundation Stone Laid for an International Training Centre for Operational
Oceanography
The Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Shri. Y. S. Chowdary laid
Foundation for the building complex of the International Training Centre for Operational
Oceanography (ITCO-Ocean) at Hyderabad.

Ministry of Earth Sciences had signed a Memorandum of Agreement with IOC /


UNESCO to cooperate in capacity development programmes. This shows the confidence of
international community in Indias achievements, particularly in the field of oceanography.

BHEL commissioned 600 MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant Stage-II in Telangana


BHEL has commissioned 600 MW unit at Kakatiya Thermal Power Project, Telangana.

Commissioned at: Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP) at Chelpur in Warangal District
of Telangana. It is the highest rating unit in the state.

Earlier units: One coal-based unit of 500 MW commissioned by BHEL in 2010 is already
operational at KTPP.

Telangana: First State to make gender education compulsory


With an introduction of bilingual textbook, Towards a World of Equals in engineering
colleges affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUHyderabad),Telangana has become the introductory state in the country to make gender
education compulsory at the graduate level.

The book edited by Susie Tharu and Dr.A.Suneetha has prescribed it as the textbook for
the newly introduced mandatory course on Gender Sensitization in JNTUH.

Govt sanctioned 791 crore rupees under NDRF for drought affected Telangana
The High Level Committee (HLC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)
sanctioned 791 crore rupees to the drought affected Telangana.

The decision has been taken during HCL meeting, which was attended by Union Home
Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Agriculture &
Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

Telangana to introduce Course Credits for students


Telangana Government is set to introduce Course Credits in Secondary education for
students to take part in certain programmes, from the next academic year. These will add up as
they move on to higher classes.

Earlier, the State government signed an agreement with apex IT industry association
Nasscom for setting up Start-up Ware house at the T-Hub.

Malayalam film actress Kalpana Ranjani passes away
Known for comic roles, Malayalam film actress Kalpana Ranjani aka Kalpana passed away in
Hyderabad due to heart attack. She was a sister of actresses Urvashi and Kalaranjini.

She had acted in 300 odd films in South Indian languages.

In 2012, she was conferred with National Award for Best Supporting Actress for
Thanichala Njan.

In 1983, she made her debut in the film industry as a child artist.

Her Malayalam hits include Ennum Eppozhum, Karnavar, Dolphins, Bangalore Days and
Spirit. Kalpana also acted notable Tamil films like Kakki Sattai, Idhaya Thiruda, Sathi
Leelavathi and Chinna Veedu.

Govt consented to Heritage Development Projects for AP & Telangana
In a bid to improve tourist infrastructure in heritage places of Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh and
Warangal in Telangana, urban development ministry has given its stamp of approval to the
projects worth of Rs. 12 crore.

An inter-Ministerial HRIDAY National Empowered Committee approved development of


Heritage Park in Amaravati and 1000 Pillar Temple, Kazipet Durgah andPadmakshi
Temple in Warangal.

Telengana to illuminate 25 municipalities with LED Bulbs
The Telengana government as a part of development has decided to replace the existing bulbs
with LED in 25 municipalities within 100 days.
Flash points

A high level meeting held on Tuesday consisting of IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Energy
Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and officials of
power sector held a discussion with ESSL to supply LED at lower prices

ESSL(Energy Savings Services Limited) is a joint venture of PSUs of ministry of


power with the objective of implementing energy efficient projects

12 lakh households of 25 municipalities are going to be supplied with LED bulbs in


the first phase

The aim of the government is to supply LED to 90 lakh households

Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Ramagundem, Waranagal and Khammam, the municipalities of


Siddipet, Siricilla, Mahbubnagar, Manchiryal, Nalgonda and Tandur, and the Gajwel
nagar panchayat are the areas to be benefitted under this project

Centres nod for Mega Food Park in Khammam


Union Government has given final approval for setting up a Mega Food Park in Khammam
District of Telanganato facilitate creation of modern infrastructure for food processing along the
value chain from the farm to the market.

This is the first Mega Food Park in Telangana and set up with the project cost of
Rs. 108.95 crore in an area of 78 acres.

These Food Processing Industries is centring on increasing the Food Processing Sector
so that agriculture sector grows and becomes the engine of growth to drive the Make in
India initiative.

India aviation show 2016 begins in Hyderabad


President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 5th edition of the India Aviation 2016 and the
five-day biennial aviation show jointly organised by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and the

MoU between Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and the

Union government has given its ex-post facto approval for the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) that links Hyderabad based Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India

Telangana Government to set up Rs 2.21 crore monkey rescue, rehab centre
i. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana government to set up a monkey rescue and rehabilitation
centre will come up in a large simian population bound Adilabad district of the state.
ii. The rehabilitation centre will be established as a pilot project at Chincholi, Hyderabad. The
department of environment and forests issued orders to this effect.
iii. The centre to come up at a cost of Rs.2.21 crore including Rs.1.56 crore as non-recurring
expenditure and Rs.65 lakh as recurring cost for the first year.
iv. The state capital Hyderabad is estimated to have population of 2,000 monkeys.

Chief Minister plan to ink a pack with Maharashtra Government to enable the state to
get sufficient water for use in the project. Due to Construction of several barrages in
Maharashtra upstream, there is deficiency in water flow into Godavari.

Irrigation facility for 18 Lakh acres and stabilizing about 12 Lakh acres

Proposed to develop three barrages on the river course at Medigadda, Annaram and
Sundilla and reservoirs at several locations with barrages storing about 39 tmc and
reservoir 150 tmc

Power requirement: 4500 MW to evacuate water through pump sets.

Authority (CAMPA) with the two States.
ii. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, said that the money has been sanctioned for
afforestation, relocation and other biodiversity works in these states.

Renowned telengana poet and lyricist Guda Anjaiah passes away
i. Eminent Telangana poet and lyricist Guda Anjaiah has passed away following a brief illness at
his residence in Ragannagudem, Telangana. He was 61 year old.
ii. Anjaiah played a vital role in Telangana movement, penning several songs that also found
their way into films.
iii. His novel Polimera described the dark days of 1975 Emergency. Anjanna was also well known
for his songs Ooru manadi that was translated into multiple languages

Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) to be 1st launched in AP and TELEGANA
As a part of setting up a new milestone in the judicial system of India, Telangana and Andhra
Pradesh are the first states in the country where Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS)will
be launched, Supreme Court Judge Madan B Lokur .
Justice Lokur is also inaugurating the first e-court (paperless court) in the High Court of
Judicature at Hyderabad for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Status of ICJS in AP and Telegana:

The reason behind the launch of this system in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is that these
states have made lot of progress in their Judicial and security sectors.

This system will link all the courts, police stations, prosecution, forensic science
laboratories and Jails in Telegana and AP.

the high courts and also trying to bring about uniformity between the data that is
available in all the high courts.

development and create up to 4,000 jobs. The new facility will provide LEED-certified home for
the expanding Maps team.

iv. This announcement of Digital center comes a day after Apple revealed that it will open iOS App
Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru.
Neelamraju Ganga Prasada Rao, Father of Hybrid Sorghum passes away
i. Eminent Agricultural Scientist Neelamraju Ganga Prasada Rao has passed away following a
brief illness in Hyderabad. He aged 89.
ii. He is also known as a Father of Hybrid Sorghum who had done basic and applied research in
breeding and agronomy dryland crops.

Union Cabinet approves amendments in Central List of OBCs applicable to Andhra
Pradesh and Telangana
i. The Union Cabinet has given nod for making suitable amendments in the Central List of OBCs
to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana upon recommendations by the National Commission for
Backward Classes (NCBC). The amendment done by way of inclusion/correction/deletion of
castes/communities applicable.
ii. The Commission in its series of recommendation gave 35 changes in respect of Andhra
Pradesh and 86 New Entries in respect of Telangana.
South Indias first Children Court was inaugurated in Hyderabad
i. After Goa and Delhi, Telangana has become the third state to inaugurate south Indias first
Childrens Court was inaugurated in Hyderabad. This court is a child friendly court and
sixth in the country with features like separate waiting rooms for children and a video camera
trial for the accused, mandated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO)
Act-2012.
ii. The child friendly courtroom was jointly inaugurated at the Nampally Criminal Courts
Complex in Hyderabad by Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of High Court of Judicature
at Hyderabad and Director General of Telangana Police Anurag Sharma.
12-day long Krishna Pushkaralu festival commences in twin Telugu states
i. The12-day long Krishna Pushkaralu festivalthat comes once in every 12 years, begins at
the Krishna River in Vijayawada, The twin Telugu states made all the Precautionary measures to
avoid any mishap.
ii. The AP government has launched a website krishnaPushkaralu.ap.gov.inthat is featured
with information about the event, a GPS-based mobile application has also been launched for
people to obtain information on ghats, the rush, bus services, etc.

First Solar commissions 130 MW of solar power plants in AP, Telangana


i. American photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers Indian subsidiary First Solar Power India
announced the commercial operation of 80 MW and 50 MW as part of the 260 MW project
portfolio solar power plants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
ii. The proposed Solar plants will produce as much as energy to power that will
illuminate2,27,500 average homes in India and will displace 204 tonnes of carbon
dioxide every year.

Ikea breaks ground for first Indian store in Hyderabad
i. Netherlands based IKEA who designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture appliances and
home accessories worldwide has laid the foundation in Hyderabad for its first store in India.

Telegana bags the highest number of Gallantry Medals

Telangana partners with ISRO to monitor water resources


i. Telangana Irrigation Department signed a MoU with the National Remote Sensing
Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to avail Water Resources
Information System (TWRI) online with ISROs Bhuvan geo-platform to monitor the depth and
quantity in all water sources.
ii. The MoU was signed between the Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao and ISRO chairman
A.S. Kiran Kumar.
Maharashtra and Telegana joins hand for three inter-state Irrigation Projects in
Godavari River
i. The governments of Maharashtra and Telangana signed a Memorandum of
Understanding for construction of three inter-state irrigation projects.

Narendra Modi Unveiled Mission Bhagiratha for Drinking Water Distribution throughout
Telegana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched phase-1 of a flagship project of Telangana government
called Mission Bhagiratha, which is aimed at providing piped drinking water to every household
in the state.
Mission Bhagiratha:Objective : To provide 100 liters of clean drinking water per person in rural households
and 150 liters per person in urban households. This project aims to provide water to about
25000 rural habitations and 67 urban habitations.

Chief Minister K Chandraskhar Rao named this Water Grid scheme which is meant
for providing safe drinking water to every households in the rural areas with an
estimated cost of Rs 35,000 crore as Mission Bhagiratha. It is an extensive 1.26
lakh km stretch of pipelines would be laid to quench the thirst of Telangana towns
and villages apart from providing water for the people needs.

Other Projects:Mr. Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stone for the following development projects,

152-km Manoharabad- Kothapalli new railway line which connects Hyderabad and
Karimnagar,

NTPCs Telangana Super Thermal Power Project Stage-1 (2800 MW), Ramagundam,

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal and

Revival of Ramagundam fertiliser plant in Karimnagar district.

Singareni Thermal Power Project (2X600 MW) at Jaipur in Adilabad district.

Renowned Dalit personality, poet and Telugu writer Prof.Kalakaluri Enoch was conferred with
the prestigious Moortidevi Award of Bharatiya Jnanpith for the year 2015.
About Kalakurichi Enoch :
i. Dr Enoch was born on July 1, 1939 in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. He is a former vicechancellor of SV University. He has been awarded the Padma Shri, fourth highest civilian
award of the country for his contributions to the field of literature.
ii. The prestigious literary award was bestowed upon him for his novel Anantajivanam by
veteran art historian Dr Kapila Vatsyayana function in New Delhi.

Telangana signs MoU to help Goa in IT development
i. Chief Minister of Goa Laxmikant Parsekar and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Raosigned an
memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together in IT development. ii. It is mutual
cooperation between both this two States
ii .Acoording to the agreement the T-Hub (Telangana Hub) will be set up in Goa.T-Hub is
Indias largest incubator for startups, located in Hyderabad.

Telangana unveils four IT sectoral policies & Telangana government, Cisco ink pact for
tech initiativesi.
i.Telangana has unveiled four sectoral policies in the Information Technology space in order to
create more employment opportunities.
ii. The policies are Data Analytics, Data Centres, Open Data and Cyber Security.
iii. Seven MoUs and Letters of Intent were signed between the Telangana Government and
Cisco to cooperate on a host of initiatives, including Smart Cities, Internet of Things,
cybersecurity, education and digitisation of monuments
Telangana inks MoU with ISRO to promote education
i. Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication of the Telangana
government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ISROs Development &
Educational Communication Unit (DECU) to improve services of its educational channel Mana
TV.
ii. The channel Mana TV start coaching classes from October 1 for those appearing for Group II
services examination of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TPSC)
iii. The channel will telecast daily a four-hour programme for candidates preparing for the
examination.
