The organization seeks to unite Filipino citizens and their organizations in the promotion of
quality and accessible yet economical health care.

The organization engages itself in the generation of opportunities to its members and
constituents for meaningful participation to address health care issues.

The organization commits itself in the provision of health service programs that directly
enhances the organization’s efforts be it in the school, work, and community settings.

The organization advocates itself in support of continuous learning and education especially
with regards to trends and advancements in rendering health care.
Philifornia General Hospital

-is a 235-bed, state-of-the-art hospital located in Assumption Road, Baguio City, Philippines. PGH offers
comprehensive healthcare services, including emergency care, heart care, advanced surgical procedures,
diagnostic imaging, orthopedic care, rehabilitation services, and help for a broad range of medical
conditions. Equipped with the most advanced medical technology, and staffed by a team of highly skilled
healthcare professionals, PGH is committed to providing high-quality care in a friendly hospital
environment.
 
I. A Century of Caring

Philifornia General Hospital has been caring for the people of Baguio for more than a century.The
institution has been built in the 1970’s by Rev. Alfre-Ma Tino. What stands today is a 235-bed tertiary
medical center began as a 20-bed facility.

A. The Early Years: 1907 – 1940

1907- The Rev. Alfre-Ma Tino established California Home, in memory of his loving wife (a Filipina).
California Home featured 12 tents with the capacity to house 20 patients in California.

1940- California Home changes its name to Philifornia Hospital and expands to treat respiratory
diseases.

B. The Expansion Years: 1941 – 1970

1950 - Philifornia Hospital changes its name to Philifornia General Hospital and expands its
capabilities to include the practice of general medicine.

1970 – The hospital celebrates its Golden Anniversary and opens a new diagnostic center for
detection of heart and lung disorders. Philifornia General Hospital expands to 128 beds.
C. The Progress Years: 1970 – 1999

1971 - Baguio’s first cardiac pacemaker implant is performed at Philifornia General Hospital.

1978 - Tha hospital again begins a 30 million expansion that includes a new tower and the
Behavioral Health Center.

1981 - 1999 - More and more progress had been established  further.

D. The Recent Years: 2000 – 2009

2004 -2009- Philifornia General Hospital finishes a 6 million expansion of its Emergency
Department which is now at present.

The Philifornia General Hospital envisions itself as the leading tertiary-level institution in the
country for providing efficient, effective, up-to-date, yet economical health care services, trainings, and
researches through an empowered workforce.

Our Mission

The institution focuses on the delivery of individualized and highly specialized yet reasonably
priced services to each client through its state of the art facilities and equipment, and highly competent
personnel.
The institution advocates itself in the training of healthcare professionals to be globally-
competitive leaders and educators yet grounded to their morale and to the principles and values that this
institution and their profession hold.
The institution engages itself in the conduct of pertinent healthcare-related researches that may
prove beneficial in upholding the interests of the community that demands it.
