Directions:
On the paper provided, create a rough draft of your island.
Dont forget your name!
Be sure to include:
o Include a title. Name your island!
o A starting and end point.
o A compass rose with cardinal and intermediate directions.
o A map key including 3 natural features and 4 cultural features (7 features in total). These
symbols should be represented on the map!
o At least 5 steps of directions. Be creative with them!
For example:
Step 1: Start on the star.
Step 2: Take four steps to the west.
Step 3: Then, take 2 steps to the north.
Step 4: After, take 6 steps to the southeast.
Step 5: X marks the spot! You may begin digging for treasure.
When finished, show a teacher. If a teacher approves, you may copy this sketch to final draft paper.
You must add color to your final copy! Please take your time and make sure your treasure map is
nice and neat!
