Introduction

The mangrove ecosystem are one of the

ecosystem that found in coastal areas.
Mangroves is a type of forest that growing
along tidal mudsflat and along shallow water
coastal areas extending in land along rivers ,
streams and their tubutaries , where water is
generally brackish. It is tress and shrubs that
grow in saline coastal habitats in the tropics
and subtropics mainly between latitude 25N
and 25S.
As a fisheries student , it is important for us to
know why and how mangroves contribute in
our economy and ecosystem. Mangroves
protect the environment by protecting coastal
areas and community from those storms
surge, waves , timber, building materials and
serves as a shelter and hatchery for
mullosks , crustaceans and other species in
marine and brackish
organisms like fish,
crabs, shrimps and any other organisms that
live it on .

METHODOLOGY:
This mangroves assesment was done
at sitio Manhak, brgy. Guinyaan Looc
Romblon on October 14, 2016 at 8:00 AM
until 10:00 AM.

METHOD USE :
transect line plot method
1. Establishing transect from shoreline
where mangroves start to seawards.
2. Making a 10X10 plo3. Identifying
mangroves by its classification and
putting it on marker.
4. Counting the num.of seedlings inside
the plot.
5. Counting the numbers of sapling.

MATERIAL :

Trasect
Notebook and pen
Rope / straw

Conclusion
We conducted a mangrove assesment at
Looc Romblon, we therefore conclude that in
our plot in station 1 at Manhak, Looc
Romblon ,there have many seedlings of family
rhizophoracaea that grows along in sandy and
muddy soil , but inin 2nd station at Malbog,
Looc Romblon our plot having matute trees
that belonging in family avicenniacaea that
grows in muddy soil .
It is not easy to identify a mangroves
because of the high tide , maybe it is better if
the assesment is conducted during low tide
for the easy identification .

SAPLING :
Density=no.of individuals/Area
=19 saplings / 100 m
=0.3 saplings / m
Using this formula , we solve the numbers of
seedlings, saplings and mature tress, and got
up to that there are 2.17 seedlings/ m ; 0.3
sapling/m .
