TheChildrenintheRedSchoolYardarePositionedinTreesOnREDChildCarriers
TheChildrenintheBlueSchoolYardarePositionedinTreesOnBlueChildCarriers
AllTeamsofCompetitorscanexpecttohaveEvaluationTestRunsinBOTHofthe
Independentchildrenplayarea/JungleEnvironmentspresentintheirAssignedCourtand
willneedtopreparetoretrieveBOTHRedandBlueChildCarriers.

competition.

Module1:IsolatedAutonomousObjectManagementinvolvingtheGripper,ChildCarriers
andavarietyofTreeswiththePlayAreaMonitorRobot.
Description:

ThestartpositionoftherobotisthecentreofthePlayAreaoppositeofoneofthetree.
Therearefivetreeswithheight5,7,9,11and13cm.Thesequenceisfixedandwillbesetby
theExpertJuryPanel.
Thereisatapeoflength25cmleadingtoeachtree.
ThereisaChildCarrierwithwithnochildrenoneachtree.Thecolourofthecarriersisblue.
Thetaskis
oNavigatemonitorRobottowardsfronttree,stopmomentarilybyglowingRedLEDonthe
robotandtaketurntoleft/rightaccordingtotargettreepositions,moveyourrobottothattree,
stoprobotinfrontofthattree,pickthechildcarrierandplaceitbacktotheplayarea.Againpick
secondcarrier(placedonanytreebyJury)andreturntotheplayareacompletely.
oCarriersmustbecompletelyinsideofthePlayarea,i.e.donottouchtheborderlineofthePlay
area

oAttheendtherobotmustbecompletelyoutsideoftheschoolyard.
oTherobotmustworkcompletelyautonomously,i.e.theprogramrunsontherobot
controlleronly.
PresentationandMarking:
Allteamwillmustwriteacode/programfortheirmachinefromthescratchduringpreparationtime.
After3.5Hrspreparationtime,allteamsmustgivetheirfirsttestrunof10min.
AfterfirsttestrunEachteamwillagainget3.5Hrsforcodemodificationafterwhichteamsmustgivetheir
secondtestrun.
Duringpreparationtime(3.5Hrsofcodedevelopment),teamsareallowedtobringtheirmachineonthe
fieldfortestingtheircodes,cancarryoutsomemeasurement(distancebetweentrees,lengthofblackline
etc.)anynooftimes.

Teamswillhave2TestRuns
Teamshaveatimeslotof10minutesforeachTestRun.
A10minuteTestRunTimeSlotconsistsof:
o02minutesofPreparation
o08minutesEvaluationTestRun
Twoteamswillbegintheir10minutesTestRunatthesametime.
EvaluationwilltakeplaceafteraTestRunhasbeencompleted.
TheMarkValuewilldependonthenavigationofrobot,stoppingatproperposition,glowing
LEDathalt,NumberofChildCarriersbringingbacksuccessfullyinplayarea.

Scoresin2testrunwillbeaddedandwillbeconsideredasafinalscoreforthatparticularteam
formodule1.

ChildCarriersmustbe100%inthePlayareaforaTeamtobeawardedamark.
ThesamplebelowshowsaPerfectTaskCompletion.

ALLChildCarriersandChildrenhavebeensuccessfullyreturnedtotheSchoolYardandthis
TeamwouldqualifyforaTimeMark.
