It has refused to give the promised forty acres and a mule or any other viable compensation to those who left the
plantations after the abolition of slavery. This would have given that population a good economically sustainable footing in
which to begin their new journey as free people and produce a more generous environment for their posterity.
It has refused to give reparations restitution to the descendents of those slaves whose present economic condition is a
direct result of the enslavement of their ancestors.
It has systematically usurped positive gains made such as large and thriving economic districts that were established by our
people.
It has characteristically and physically assassinated Afro Descendant leadership who have taken stances against the
injustices of the governments system. Released reports reveal the hidden involvement of such agencies, as the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, in the demise of a number of these well-meaning persons.
It has unjustly incarcerated many Afro Descendants who also have a disproportionate incarceration rate compared to
other people who commit more of the same crimes. Substantial evidence is available concerning many cases of wrongful
imprisonment.
It has forced us to join the military to become the executioners of our friends and Brethren, or to fall ourselves by their
hands, all while being denied basic human rights on this soil called the United States of America In every stage of these
Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only
by repeated injury. A ruler whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of
a free people. Nor have we been wanting in attentions to our politicians. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our
enslavement and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by
the ties of our common residence to disavow these injustices, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and
correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the
necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace
Friends. We, therefore, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name,
and by Authority of the good People of this territory, solemnly publish and declare, That this territory (henceforth named
Al Ummah) upon which we now occupy is, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent; that it is Absolved from all
Allegiance to the United States of America government, and that all political connection between it and the United
States, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as a Free and Independent State, it has full Power to levy War,
conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States
may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we
mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor. Thus this government of the United States
of America has helped present the justification for our independence away from it while bearing witness against itself for its
Human Rights abuses that the world has already witnessed throughout our history in the United States of America. We
therefore declare our independence and will self-govern upon the territory known until now as Highland Park, Michigan.
