ME AND MYSELF

What is driving you to continue in AIESEC? Why have you decided to apply
for MC Team 15/16? What do you want to take out of this experience?

I am an AIESECer by faith and choice. Starting from a member 2 years ago,

I have witnessed so many life-changing experiences from members, from
interns and especially from me myself. I was LCPf twice. Both times running
for LCP give me different lessons, particularly about self-awareness,
courage, determination, passion and action. Looking back my journey,
thanks to AIESEC, I have become a better individual; know who I am
(strengths, weaknesses, personality) and who I want to be.
I clearly feel that my passion towards AIESEC has not ended yet. Now I am
running to be a part of AIESEC Vietnam national team 15/16 to join my
efforts, my capacities, my strengths, and my belief in the journey of
building a sustainable AIESEC in Vietnam. I strongly believe that by taking
this experience, I accept the challenges to learn more while fighting for
something bigger than myself. I would love to put myself in an intensive
experience, learning about the business world outside and have closer eyes
in the relevance between AIESEC and society. From having little sales
experience to be the Business Development Manager is a challenge but I
believe with my resilience and commitment, organizational values and
exchange product understanding, action orientation and fast learning, I can
gain your trust to deliver promise and contribute to group of best friends,
sisters and brothers who share the story together in the end of this journey.
I clearly know that this team will hold a lot of uncertainties and challenges.
However, I believe it will be incredible beyond imagination at the same
time. Every time I sit down and continue this application, visualize the
journey of the next term, the adrenaline starts pumping through my veins
and my heart beats faster. Im so excited to continue writing the story after
GYS 2015 when AIESEC in Vietnam turns into another page and the whole
network also bustles with our final sprints to reach the 2015 ambition while
aiming for AIESEC 2020.

You may meet people you don't like, get trouble in stressful situaCon or
feel something wrong with the environment, the structure, the leaders or
the members. At the end of the day, they sCll greatly contribute to your
development.

What are your values and how are you living those values?

INTEGRITY:

STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE:

LIVING DIVERSITY:

Promise only what I know I can deliver

and keep that promise.
Be honest, fair, candid and forthright.
Treat everyone in the same way that I
myself would want to be treated.
Walk the talk and be transparent about
who I am and what I am doing.
Example: Deadlines of DS team
(registration, booklets, conference
experience project, souvenir, pick up)
were always set based on mutual
agreement. I treated it seriously and
updated frequently on progress,
analyzed and found solution to bridge
the gap. The most important thing is
clear on communication, solve the
misunderstanding as soon as possible
and never take assumption.

Dont mind giving a try to uncertainty

and try my best to make it happen in the
most high quality performance.
Feedback (give + receive properly)
Set high standards (myself and others)
Reflect on improvements
Set right expectations and aim higher
Super focus on implementation
Example: All booklets and newsletters of
GYS are in high quality of content and
design. Because I set clear STANDARDS
in format, design and review (list of
questions, points and requirements) for
team to follow. Each of publication
normally needs 5 versions (improvement
after every single time of feedback)

International experiences
Open to other ideas, proactive listening
Show Empathy.
Challenge others and myself in deeper
understanding of things.
Example: I had chance to work with 96
people from 10 nationalities in 26 days in
Taiwan. We were really different in skills,
working styles, thinking, tradition and
cultures. Each of us enjoyed the work
different way but we all believed in once
success of IC and challenged ourselves
to understand and support others as
much as we could.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

High standard

Fast learning

Facial expression

Action oriented

In CC team, I required a high standard in all DS materials

(designing, writing). Phat needed to revise the visa
guideline more than 10 times, changed the whole
application process, cut down from 27 pages to 21 pages.
He told me he had never received a lot of feedback like
that in his life for a single task. He now understand the
work standard and clearly see how much his final version
better than the first one. Im working on making very clear
in the job standards at the beginning and get team
agreement, instruct them how to get there, be patient to
give feedback and help people to improve.

When I focus on doing something, my face is really cold

and people may feel something bad/serious happen and
uncomfortable to talk with. Im working on smiling often
and having a fresh face.

Straightforward

I dont hesitate to give reprimand/ feedback to people,

which makes them feel hurt sometimes. Im working on
getting peoples understanding at the beginning, focusing
on helping other to grow by giving constructive feedback
in the right way,

In the first 3 months working in project, I understood all the processes of

incoming exchange (RA-MA-RE) by real experience in different OC positions. In
the last 12 months as a VP iGCDP, I demonstrated as a role model in learning
about functional knowledge, planning, making strategies, networking, coaching/
training and utilizing resources and have flexibility to deal with changes (TN
takers broke partnership and gave final confirmation 1 day before realization
date due to AIESECs legality while 4 interns had already booked flight
predicted by building different scenarios, sent EP preparation and EP
expectation package beforehand, conducted EP orientation, applied customer
centricity and in the end all of them gave us NPS 10)

I did what I said, tried to deliver my promises and never gave up regardless of
different challenges. In current CC team, all scopes in our plan is implemented
and we had specific results delivered on time with high standards.

Resilience

After my VP iGCDP term. I ran for LCP 14-15 but failed. I had a big shock due to
lots of dishonesty during the election, but I chose to stand up and continue
AIESEC journey with IPM instead of leaving this organization. In August 2014, I
joined IC in Taiwan and it inspired me to do more, learn more and contribute
more toward AIESEC. I took my courage to apply for LCP one more time with all
of my belief, passion, knowledge and experience. Again, I wasnt chosen that
time. I felt hurt and disheartened. However, I still keep moving forward because I
believe that there are still a huge opportunities waiting for me, with lots of
lessons to learn. Now, Im applying to be a part of MC 15-16.

What is your way to build strong connection with your teammates? And which
challenges you foresee that may affect team connection?

To build strong connection

Frequent physical interaction creating space for conversation

happen, for people to discover more about each other (childhood,
family, dream)
Clear on purpose and let everyone realize the reason why we stay as
one team
Have a check in session before weekly meeting
Encourage mutual conversation by having space for personal
dating/ buddy couple in meeting.
Invite people to join eating and work out (swimming or playing
badminton)
Schedule personal catch up
Team bonding day

The challenges

Any reason which prevents people to have physical interactions

and conversation. One of the most important things is mindset.
When you want something, you find the way. When you dont
want something, you find the reason. Therefore if people dont
understand and dont value the time to stay together, they
wont invest time in discovering people and they dont put it as
their priority.

What does leadership means to you? Describe yourself as a leader using

specific examples of actions you took to ensure achievement of goals and
development of your members.

Leadership

is empowering people to be
a better version of themselves

Clear purpose

Paint the vision of the future that inspires others and me do whatever it takes to get there.
Keep the energy and the fire on the team.

Create environment for members to share their thoughts and to live with who they are
Listen to their interests and strengths to delegate the right tasks.
Provide resources of learning.
Do frequent coaching and always be reachable

Passion. Action

Show the strong belief on what I am doing.

Spread the happiness and the enjoyment of what I am doing.
Be role model and walk the talk.

What is your understanding about MCP Role and how are you going to
support MCP 15/16?
MCP Role
Entity strategic management
General management
