I produced a range of sketches of a desk for
a hotel bedroom. I started producing a Time
Sheet to keep up with how much time I
have been spending each day on the work
and what work I have been producing each
day. I have researched various hotel desk
designs and writing information such as
form, function, user requirements, materials
and cost with sustainability. I have created a
design presentation that will have to been
presented on 15th February 2015. I have
researched hotel desk with Eco-Friendly
materials such as bamboo, plywood
laminate, aluminium and stainless steel. I
also produced a Gantt Chart with what tasks
I will be doing.

I was completing the design presentation by
adding research and also finding
information about LED lighting and the
target audience, sustainability and sketches
added.

Lecturers checked my design presentation
and research for improvements with ideas
on what more research I can do and what
sketched I can do to improve the design and
to make it different.

I drew a few sketches of hotel desk designs
with laptops, plug socket for mobile phones
and iPads, drawer units, shelves, light and
mirror to be included on the design.

I started doing research on the
Environmental Aspects of Stainless Steel,
Aluminium and Stainless Steel. I also started
the questionnaire to give to the target
audience for their feedback and their
requirements for the hotel furniture desk. I
also created a questionnaire for the Target
Audience.

I was finding research on the Environmental
aspects on Stainless Steel, Aluminium and
Stainless steel, eZee iMenu Digital Menu
and Ziosk for the iPad software and I also
started doing research on the Holiday Inn
Hotel with branding and cost with all the
materials use and the cost of the furniture.

I had feedback from the lecturer about my
progress with the research and he was
giving me feedback on what research
materials I can use and where I can find the
research. I also started typing up my
research.

I was typing up the research in to a
Publisher file and drawing up a few hotel
furniture desk designs.

I had feedback from my lecturer and he was
trying to persuade my to change my project
to do a sofa bed instead of a desk but doing
a sofa bed is irrelevant to what I want to
and I also cannot use Eco-Friendly materials
with it. I am going to continue with the desk
design with the Eco-Friendly materials. I

also completed typing up the research to be
ready for the pin up and presentation for
the 15th February 2016.

I had feedback from the lecturer helping me
with titles for my Major Project. I was also
reading through the design presentation to
be prepared for the 15th February 2016.

I had to re-do the Gantt chart and logbook
due to I accidently deleted it but I managed
to remember all the Coursework I have
done on a daily basis.

I had to re-do the Gantt chart by writing the
tasks as stages such as Stage 1 Research. I
also included the task number, Task E.G
What I will be doing, Resources E.G What
will help me produce the coursework, start
date and end date, duration in days, %
complete and I added the dates of every
month until the hand in in May 2016. My
aim is to get the Gantt chart completed by
the end of the week with the information
required and by going through all the
stages.
I also did sketches of the hotel furniture
desks to add to my portfolio.
I also read through the Design Presentation
PowerPoint to present on the 15th February
2016.

desks and I have added a few renders.
I have also been keeping the Logbook
updated by adding the weekly progress of
assignments on what I have been doing.
I have also been completing the Gantt
Chart.

I completed the Gantt Chart and I also

I drew a few sketches with developments of
the hotel furniture desk and starting to add
renders to the designs. I also started the
Technical Book for the Major Project by
adding health and safety.

I was drawing designs of the hotel furniture
desk as well as getting all the coursework
organised for the Assessment 1 hand in for
22nd February 2016. I was also adding
renders to the drawings and adding a bit of
information about the design of the hotel
furniture desk for example advantages and
disadvantages.
19-2-2016
I was doing developments of the hotel
furniture desk such as I changed the shape
to make it easier and accessible for
individuals, I put the mirror at an angle, a
foot rest, hotel safe, plug socket and iPad so
that it will also connect to the reception. It
will also be made from eco-friendly
materials.
20-2-2016
I drew out a final design of the hotel
furniture design with added renders and
information such as what can be improved
to the design. I also completed the Gantt
Chart from Semester 2 1st February 2016
until June 2016 for when the Degree Show
is.

I added renders to all the other hotel
furniture design desks and with added
information. I have drawn a final design on
Solidworks to show what it will look like and
to add to the research portfolio. I also went
to visit a Holiday Inn back in Gloucester
where my hometown is to get primary
research. We met up with the Manager who
let me see a bedroom and to take any
primary research that was nesseccarily
needed. I also noticed that the desk in that
current bedroom was small with a big flat
screen TV with two drawer units with plug
sockets and light switch against the wall.

I was keeping the Logbook updated and to
organise the page layout as well as making
sure the English was correct. I also started
the technical book for the Major Project
which involved health and safety.

I started the technical book that is for the
Major Project. I also updated the Logbook
and I have organised the layout with the
pages for example each Week by having its

I was organising all the folder work on what
will have to be included such as all the
concept drawings, SolidWorks, Gantt Chart

sockets that will be used. I drew 3
SolidWorks for developments that will go on
the 3 A3 Concept Presentation Boards as
well as completing the Final Design for the
A2 Presentation Board.

developments. I also did more research of
the types of materials that can be used and
the types of finishes that will also be used
