Our current Social Studies Unit is on the American Revolutionary war.
Over the next week, we will be learning about important figures during this time period in America. Our class will be having a simplified version of a Wax Museum to help expand our knowledge of biographies and to learn more about the important people in American history. Each student will create a poster board with information about one of the listed figures. No need for costumes since the poster boards will also be used as costumes and props! (Refer to image below.) There is also a written response that goes with this project. Students will be expected to answer the following questions (3 paragraphs): 1) How did the Revolutionary War shape the America we live in today? 2) If you were a colonist, how would you feel about the taxes imposed on the colonies? 3) How did the Native Americans feel about the French? The British? 4) How did your chosen key figure affect the Road to Revolutionary War? Students will be expected to meet the criteria listed in the grading rubrics. Copies are attached. The rubric includes what the expectations are for the poster board. Please read and review the rubric with your child.
Presentations will be held on
November 16, 2016. Please help your child remember to bring his or her completed poster board before or on the presentation day.
