Expected Answer Guideline (EAG)
1.1 Compare and contrast different organizational structures and culture.
EAG: Learner will prepare comparison between organization structure and culture. Learner
will only use four types of organization structures and cultures. Following structure and
cultures will be used.
Tall structure

Power Culture

Flat structure

Role Culture

Hierarchical structure

Task Culture

Centralized and decentralized structure

Person Culture

1.2 explain how the relationship between an organizations structure and culture can
impact on the performance of the business
EAG: Learner has to discuss how relevant organization structure and culture can create
positive or negative impacts on the performance of selected business organization.
1.3 Discuss the factors which influence individual behavior at work
EAG: Learner should create preliminary discussion on individual behaviour and discuss
influential factors (such as - Demographic factors, Perception, Abilities and skills, Attitude
and Personality) which influence individual behaviour.
2.1 Compare the effectiveness of different leadership styles in different organizations.
EAG: Learner will discuss different types of leadership styles (such as democratic,
autocratic,

participative,

charismatic,

bureaucratic,

Laissez-faire,

transactional

and

transformational) and their effectiveness (through advantages) with the examples of different
organization.
2.2 Explain how organizational theory underpins the practice of management
EAG: Learner will briefly discuss various organization theories such as scientific
management, system approach, bureaucratic approach and contingency approach and explain
these theories or approaches principles and practices of managing activities.
2.3 Evaluate the different approaches to management used by different organizations
EAG: Learner will assess different types of management approaches such as - scientific
management approach; classical administration approach; bureaucratic approach; human

relations approach; systems approach; contingency approach and provide examples of


different organizations.
3.1 Discuss the impact that different leadership styles may have on motivation in
organizations in periods of change
EAG: Learner will discuss different types of leadership styles and their impact on
motivation. Learner can discuss Maslows needs hierarchy theory, two factors theory and
theory XY.
3.2 Compare the application of Maslows motivational theory between two work
situations
EAG: Learner will use motivational theory in two different work context (such as operational
level work and middle level management work).
3.3 Evaluate the usefulness of a motivation theory for Managers.
EAG: Learner will assess the motivational theories helpfulness for managers, i.e. how
managers can use these theories for employee motivation.
4.1 Explain the nature of groups and group behavior within organizations
EAG: Learner will explain concept of group and group behavior. Learner will also explain
different types of group behavior.
4.2 Discuss factors that may promote or inhibit the development of effective teamwork
in organizations
EAG: Learner needs to discuss following factors and should explain how these factors can
develop the teamwork in organization. Relevant factors can be 1. Supportive sponsors
2. Focus on stakeholder outcome
3. SMART goals
4. Committed leadership
5. Mutual trust
6. Engaged leadership team members
7. Collaborates to set direction and solve problems
8. Obtains individual commitments
9. Establish discipline of personal accountability
10. Remove barriers

4.3 Evaluate the impact of technology on team functioning within a given organization
EAG: Learner needs to point out the technologies which are currently using by business
organizations and also explain how the technologies are facilitating the functions of business
organizations.
