Presidential Electoral Process

The voice of the masses in practice is silent when is comes to the election of the
president due to delegates and super delegates who are not bound by law to
vote in any direction for who is nominated, as well as the electoral college not
being a representation of the masses. In my opinion, the election should be
based on the popular vote of the people, as opposed to this complex electoral
college - The results would be the president elect would be chosen by the
majority of the people, he would represent the majority of the country, as well as
this would result in more parties being able to run and have a chance at being
elected, in turn we would not be using the two party system, which George
Washington himself wished to not form.

Paragraph:

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely,
in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning,
ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people
and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very
engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion. [...] I have already intimated to
you the danger of parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of
them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view,
and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of
party generally. - George Washington, Farewell Address 1796
In 48 states, when a candidate receives the majority of votes, he or she receives
all of the states electoral votes. - USA.gov (Official Website of the United
States)
It is possible for a candidate to receive the majority of the popular vote, but not
of the electoral vote, and lose the Presidential election. - USA.gov

President Washington, in his farewell address to the nation, described basically

what is happening in our 2016 elections - cunning, a
mbitious, and unprincipled

men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves
the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted
them to unjust dominion. This is what has happened to our country, that our first
president warned us about. Political parties allow unprincipled men to gain office and
remove power from the people to take control of the government. This has happened
with the DNC and the GOP, both of which are the two major parties of this country,
both of which hold most to all of the power in this government, and in which almost
all presidents, senators and representative identify with. These parties are able to
push their own agendas with the people they elect, and now these major parties are
mentioned as playing a significant role in the actual elections of the presidents, they
push through the nominations and the most important people to these parties are
elected to vote for who shall become the next president. This leave the people of the
country without any voice in who is elected to serve them as Commander in Chief.
The mere idea that if a candidate wins the majority of a state, they are granted all the
electoral votes of such state, is not only unfair, but plain wrong. This is our
democracy caught in action taking the votes away from its citizens. The electoral
votes given to candidates by each state should be reflective of how many people
vote for each candidate in that state.
A candidate winning the popular vote but losing the electoral vote is once again,
democracy caught in the act of taking the voice away from the citizens. A recent,
real example of this are the 2000 elections - Al Gore won the Popular vote, but lost
the electoral votes, thus Bush was elected. This is quite literally the act of silencing
the peoples choice. Our government is no longer by the people, for the people,
rather by the rich and powerful, for the rich and powerful. The United States
Democracy is no longer alive, rather the United States Oligarchy lives in its place.
