Spacebase - Changing the way you meet

More efficiency and creativity in meetings through the Sharing economy

Numerous studies back up what every employee knows: that the dominant culture in company
meetings is anything but efficient. As recent
figures demonstrate, employees waste around
31 hours a month in unproductive meetings.
Whether it is a team workshop, strategy
meeting or discussion with business partners,
poor
planning, stagnant routines and
non-creative atmospheres make it difficult to
draw any real benefit from most of these
appointments. On top of this comes the added
time wasted of coordinating and planning these
events so frequently. Berlin start-up Spacebase
(www.spacebase.com) breaks the mold of this
outdated structure by offering businesses a simple and transparent way of booking exciting
venues for workshops online. Rather than staring at the white walls of the same meeting room
or the dull surroundings of anonymous hotel conference rooms, Spacebase lets you inject the
wow-factor into your workshops by using stimulating and creative new environments. Through
the use of the sharing economy, Spacebase makes unique venues available. While a boxing
ring could give a panel discussion some more spice, a hip co-working space could give a
traditional corporation the start-up vibe they need for their next big idea. Employees, customers
and partners can participate dynamically in meetings again and let their creativity run wild in
inspiring locations. Additionally, the whole booking process is streamlined and gets rid of calling
multiple venues to receive different offers.

Learning from a long history of meetings: The founder story

Spacebase founders Jost and Jan Hoffmann-Keining
know what they are talking about when it comes to
non-creative and time-consuming meetings. After
experiencing countless inefficient meetings and
workshops throughout their careers as business
consultants, they wanted to bring Spacebase to the
traditional MICE sector with ambition and momentum.
They have been able to gain a real understanding of this
industry and together with investor and online travel
pioneer Stephan Ekbergh and their international team, they have built Spacebase with more
than 2,000 spaces in 20 cities and 10 countries. A steadily-growing portfolio is maintained by a
global network of space scouts who handpick spaces on a daily basis. It is important for us to
see every Space that we rent out and personally meet every space manager. Only this way, we
can ensure that companies are hosted professionally, says Jost. Spacebase lives what it
teaches: the company sits in a Berlin coworking space, desks are flexible and the meeting room

is rented out regularly. What we like about renting out our own meeting room is that we meet
new people constantly and get new impulses. Additionally, we are able to finance our rent
completely with it and slowly invest in our office, stated Jost.

No more wasted space: Advantages for the space provider

But it is not just businesses that are profiting from the innovative Spacebase concept. As
Spacebase is free-to-list, venue owners can internationally advertise their lovingly designed
space and ensure optimum use of their
facilities, while eliminating the hassle of
dealing with the transaction themselves.
If a venue is listed on Spacebase, one
request equals one booking, making
unnecessary work and administrative
details a thing of the past. This is possible
through transparent prices, high quality
content and a live calendar integration.
Because of this, owners of unique venues
can take care of a long-term booking
strategy, rather than having to constantly
worry about ensuring a never-ending
stream of short term rentals. The
payment of Spacebase runs on a commission basis on the venue side.
