8. Milk
9. Processing- After can no longer give milk, some dairy cows are sent to slaughter to become
hamburger meat.
10. Workers- Workers on factory farms are often low paid and are subjected to hazardous working
conditions. Some have even died on the job.
11. Downer cows
12. Pesticides- Pesticide residues accumulate in the fat and tissue of animals
13. Antibiotics- Low daily doses of antibiotics are often fed to cows to ward of diseases and make them
grow faster. This contributes to an increase in antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
14. rBGH- Milk from cow injected with artificial growth hormones may cause health problems
15. agribusiness- The consolidation of food production concentrates power in the hands of fewer and
fewer coporations.
16. waste recycling- Methane digesters are not sustainable and still leave behind manure, heavy metals
and other waste byproducts

Write: Before viewing these videos, how much did you know about agribusiness? What was some new
information you learned from these videos? What is the goal of these videos? Do you think these videos
will change how you eat? Why/why not?
Before watching these videos I did not know a lot about agribusiness. New information I learned is that
cows are separated from their mothers and given a milk replacement which contains supplements from
cow blood. The goals of these videos is to raise awareness on where our food comes from and what is
happening behind the scenes of a packaged piece of meat or carton of milk. I think these will change the
way I eat and the way I shop because by buying the meat produced in these factories I would be promoting
these horrible factories and I do not want to do that.
