Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a symptom or a state of body suffered


by some particular women either several days or weeks before menstruation
occurs. Pre-menstrual syndrome is a symptom of unsettling feeling that can
disturb daily activities and the declining of education achievement. The
prevalence of PMS in Asian region is pretty high, raging around 51%. Several
theories explained that from the lots of determining factors to become the cause of
PMS toward female teenagers, BMI is one of the factors that ignites PMS. The
purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between BMI and PMS to
female students in Semen Gresik High School. This is an observational analytic
research with using the cross sectional study, under the location of High School
Semen Gresik area, with the samples of 131 female students from 10 th and 11th
grade with systematic random sampling. Data were taken by using questionnaire,
with the result Spearmen-correlated. The result of the research indicates that there
is no correlation between BMI with PMS in Semen Gresik High School ( <
0,05).
