/BIOS Fix
Ideapad 500-14ACZ / Ideapad 500-15ACZ
This document provides an extensive fix for the Lenovo Ideapad 500 series laptops having the 6th
generation AMD 10 8700 PK processors and are having display issues during boot and startup. The issues
primarily arise due to an old version of BIOS-CACN27WW(V2.00) and incompatible drivers installed by
OEM for the AMD Radeon (TM) R5 M430 and AMD Radeon (TM) R6 display chips.
Fix Highlights
1. Update BIOS to
Version
CACN31WW(V2.0)
2. Update AMD
Radeon (TM) R5
M430 drivers
3. Update AMD

Radeon (TM) R6
drivers
Step 6:
Boot to BIOS from Windows 10 and re-configure your original BIOS settings noted down in Step
4. If the hot key not work without Fn key after flash BIOS, this SOP describes how to enable hot
key mode
1: Press power button to boot, then press F2 key enter BIOS setup
2: Select sub menu to Configuration
3: Select to Hotkey Mode item and then press enter
4: Select Enabled then press enter
5: Press F10 save and exit, then select Yes then press enter.
Step 7:
Download the AMD Driver Autodetect from:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
The AMD Driver Autodetect Utility will analyze the system and show the detected graphics
hardware, operating system, and the best driver for the graphics product.
Once the download has completed, the AMD Driver Autodetect Utility will launch automatically.
When the driver download process using above utility has completed, a new installation window
will open. AMD recommends using the default location to eliminate potential issues that may
occur during installation.
Click Install. The installation will take considerable time. You will see many blank screens and
flashes when the drivers are being updated. Do not use mouse or keyboard. Re-boot the
machine once installation of drivers for AMD Radeon (TM) R5 M430 and AMD Radeon (TM) R6
are completed.
