This training is intended to set out the principles and procedures, of SunExpess airports categorization which may
operates flights in to, as Category A, B and C in accordance with the principles which are set in OPS 1.975 and
AMC OPS 1.975, will be based depending on the level of difficulties faced, as well as to identify the routes, for which
special procedures are followed, and the procedures regarding the trainings and certification required to perform
operations on and into the said routes and airports.
All airports shell be checked and categorized by the flight operation departments and risk assesment for each airport
need to be prepared to idendifed the risk of operation.

Determination of Airport Category


Determination of Airport Category
Airport Categories shall be determined upon the approval of the Flight Operations Manager or his deputy based on
the risk assessment prepared by coordination of the OCC Management, Documentation Standardization and
Performance Management and Safety Management.

The categories determined may only be changed upon the approval of the Flight Operations Management by
requesting of OCC Management, Documentation Standardization and Performance Management, Safety
Management due to reasons like variance of physical conditions, captain reports, flight safety reports and any need
in this respect.

Principles For Practice
The conditions required of the flight crew members for the flight operations to be performed into airport categories C
is provided at OM Part-A Route and Airport Competency Qualification. List of Category C airports are provided in OM
Part-C, OF Form 014.
OF Form 014 is revised when an aerodrome added to the Authorized Airport List by Flight Operations
Management.

Determination of Special Routes


Determination of Special Routes
The routes which require practices other than the standard procedures for the reasons listed below are called special
routes. The training and qualification requirements shall be met in accordance with the procedures provided under OPS
1.975, OM Part-A and OM Part-D.
The special routes covering the following shall be provided under OM Part-C.

High obstacles on the flight routes.


Special procedures applied on the flight routes.
Special procedures applicable for the countries flown over on the flight route.
Special procedures applicable for the regions flown over on the flight route.

Departments Responsibilities
There are several efforts for aviation companies to open new destinations for commercial purposes.In the same
time some
new destination airport requests come from tour operators. Depending on issued official document and company
regulations,
related company departments try to decide if they can comply with or refuse the request made by operators.
SunExpresss related departments held some meetings to arrange a procedure over the subject and finalized with
own flow chart for destination airport and enroute to destination regions.

Final Decision
After having completed the flow chart requirements, Flight Operation Manager or Deputy of Flight Operations
Manager decide about to fly to requested destination and send it to OCC for preparation.

examination goes into two parts;

Special Aerodrome Limitations


Category C airports requirements as per Part A, Chapter 5, Training Management will send qualification
reports and dates to Crew Planning for pilots. If authority does not require actual flight to aerodrome within a
year simulator flight for mentioned aerodrome is sufficient.

Special Aerodromes
SunExpress Airline operates in to some of airports which are difined as category C airports,
Thouse airports are;
Innsbruck, INN / LOWI
Salzbrug, SZG / LOWS
Erzincan, ERC / LTCD
VAN, VAN / LTCI
Gazipaa, GZP / LTFG
Sarajevo, SJJ/ LQSA

Each above airport has specific approach type to considered and special approval shell
obtained from the authority.
All C category airports approvals and specifications shell be published in Company

Operations Manual Part C has below contents,

Innsbruck
Aircraft Specification
Requirements
This operation is performed with
B737-800W/800WSFP aircraft types
that are stated in approved
SunExpress AOC. GPWS
handicapped aircraft shall not be
scheduled, due to high terrain
around the airport. Single Engine
Operation is not recommended due
to high terrain which causes climb
gradient restrictions.
GPS must be operative and for
RNAV(RNP) RWY 26, SPECIAL
LOC/DME R PROCEDURE
EAST, RNAV(GNSS) RWY 08
approaches.
RAIM check required at dispatch
phase.

Innsbruck INN / LOWI


Flight Crew Qualifications
Due to the unique location of INN
Airport a special training is required
as detailed by INN
simulator familiarization training
syllabus (OM Part D). Before
attending simulator, each pilot
must complete a ground training.
After completion of ground training
each pilot must complete one line
training flight with a
SunExpress approved TRI / TRE.
After completing the training, the
pilot is allowed to operate
to Innsbruck without any restrictions.
First officers need a minimum
experience of 2000 hours on Boeing
737,
Captains need a minimum
experience of 2000 hours as PIC
Minimum one flight per year required
in order to remain qualified.

Salzbrug
Aircraft Specification Requirements
This operation is performed with aircraft
types stated in approved SunExpress
AOC. GPWS handicapped aircraft must
not be scheduled, due to high terrain
south of the airport. Single Engine
Operation is not recommended due to
high terrain which causes climb
gradient restrictions.
GPS must be operative and for RNAV
(RNP) 33 (AR), RNAV (GNSS) 15 and
RNAV (GNSS) 33 approaches.

Salzbrug SZG/ LOWS


Flight Crew Qualifications
Operation to Salzburg requires no
special simulator training or paper
examinations. Each pilot must
complete one line training flight
with a SunExpress approved TRI /
TRE. When successful, the pilot is
allowed to operate to Salzburg
without any restrictions.
First officers need a minimum
experience of 500 hours on
Boeing 737
Captains need a minimum
experience of 500 hours PIC
Minimum one flight per year
required in order to remain
qualified

Erzincan

Requirements
This operation is performed with

SunExpress AOC:
GPWS handicapped aircraft must

engines must be operative before
commencing any approach.

Prior operation each pilot must undergo
simulator trainings according company
syllabus and have a pass for the
relevant exam. After simulator training
the pilot is authorized to fly without
supervision. No observation flight is
required prior operation. In order to
remain qualified, a minimum of one
flight per year is required. SunExpress
does not allow the conduct of any
line training flights to Erzincan.

VAN VAN/ LTCI


Flight Crew Qualifications
In order to remain qualified, a minimum of one flight per year is
required.
Day time
No special simulator training is required for VAN. After the first
Operators Proficiency Check
(OPC), one line training flight with an approved SunExpress TRI
/ TRE is required.
First officers: minimum requirement is 500 hours on Boeing
737
Captains: minimum requirement is 500 hours as PIC
Night time
Special simulator trainings are required to land at night
conditions (RWY 03 only). Daytime
restrictions are valid for all other crew.
Landing RWY 21 at nighttime is not applicable for SunExpress.

training the pilot is authorized to fly without
supervision. No observation flight is required prior
operation. In order to remain qualified, a
minimum of one flight per year is required. Recurrent
simulator training shall be performed
every year.
SunExpress does not allow the conduct of any line
training flights to Gazipaa.
