Utilizing Your Plaid

State your Plaid:

1. Authentic Blue (strongest colour)
2. Resourceful Orange (next strongest colour)
3. Organized Gold
4. Inquiring Green (colour least like you)
Consider the strengths of each colour (whether it is strong in you or not).
1. I am, as you would say a true blue; lots of my skills, talents and traits/qualities
come from Authentic Blue. I typically always use Blue in my daily life,
relationships and communication are a huge importance in my life, I am very
optimistic, motivating, persuading, creative thinker, good leader, quick to offer
praise and support, natural team builder/player, conflict mediator and resolver
and dedicated to people issues. Even though I am a true Blue, Resourceful
Orange is a close second. I draw from both Blue and Orange in my daily life. I am
very flexible, adaptable, resilient, clear direct communicator, determined, quick to
act, makes things happen, appreciates and gets quick results, excellent in crisis
situations, performs well under pressure, and easy-going and entertaining. I am
as you would say a true blorange, okay that is not really a thing but I flip between
the two pretty seamlessly. When it comes to emotions I am more resilient not as
emotional as a blue, I do not take things as personally and am good with
constructive criticism, but when in relationships I can flip between blue and
orange depending on the situation, I pick and choose which side I like to be on.
When it comes to Organized Gold, I typically pull from these traits when in a
work, school or professional setting and at home when it gets dirty, Im a secret
gold. I am dependable, focus on productivity, attention and concern for detail,
organization and planning skills, honours time-lines, provides and maintains
order, cooperative and willing to help out, good quality and quantity of work,
following direction, supervising and coordinating and good informational listener.
Now Inquiring Green, a typical time in life I would use this colour would be in
sharing my personal opinions and problem/conflict solving depending on the
person or problem, I can get logical and rational and throw the emotion out the
window.
2. In my everyday life, I pull from both Blue and Orange strengths and skills. I am
very positive, motivating, persuading and leading, quick to offer praise and
support, communicate empathy, creative thinker, dedicated to people issues,
mediates and resolves conflict, natural team builder/player, public speaking and
presenting, sees/promotes potential in others, expresses thoughts and feelings,
care-taker of group process and listening and communicating. I am also flexible,
adaptable, resilient, determined, quick to act, expedites and makes things

happen, appreciates and gets quick results, excellent in crisis situations,
performs well under pressure, creating and designing, fixing mistakes, managing
multiple projects, and easy-going and entertaining. When in work, school or a
professional setting, my Gold characteristics shine. I am dependable, focus on
productivity, attention and concern for detail, organization and planning skills,
honours time-lines, provides and maintains order, cooperative and willing to help
out, good quality and quantity of work, following direction, supervising and
coordinating and good informational listener. The Green skill I use is a logical
approach.
3. In Authentic Blue, the traits that energize me are optimism, people-oriented,
being expressive and animated, inspiring and motivating others, public speaking,
counselling, being a team builder/player, listening and communicating, ability to
persuade and cooperate, offering praise and support, having good intuition and
imagination, and expressing thoughts and feelings. In my weakest colour Green,
the traits that frustrate or exhaust me are planning, requiring private time, being
emotionally self-controlled, analytical and systematic, and investigative and
inquisitive.
That Really Pushes My Buttons!
4a) The last job I had, I worked as a graphic designer and an office
administrative assistant. I really enjoy helping everyone in the office, I enjoyed
planning meetings, doing daily tasks like printing, binding, paperwork and
mailing. Honestly, anything that involves helping someone complete a task and
stay on track is what I enjoy. I love to do everyone elses work, it keeps me
motivated and energized, I like to be a part of a team and encourage, support
and motivate people.
b) This area of work and the strengths in my primary colour, Blue, align perfectly.
As an Office Administrator, communication and being a team player is key.
Authentic Blues skills that will help me in this career are listening and
communicating, relating well with others, natural team builder/player, creative
thinker, facilitating personal and organizational growth and development, being
optimistic, ethical, honest, sincere, supportive, empathetic, enthusiastic,
stimulating, expressive/animated and inspirational, public speaking and
presenting, care-taker of group process, and synthesizing and maintaining
harmony. To be honest there really isnt a Blue skill that wouldnt help me in this
area of work.
5a) Even though I work well under pressure, I cant always be super human. Last
minute work is a part of life, but when I receive large writing assignments last
minute I slightly panic. It takes me time to write, I cant just throw something
together. Which is funny because if you ask me to throw something together last
second and present I am fine, since I make it up as I go. Writing has always been
a daunting task for me; I am more of a speaker.

b) This situation connects to Gold and Orange. Gold needs time and does not
like to have last minute things sprung on them, and Orange doesnt like
excessive amounts of paperwork. When considering these traits, in an interview
when asked to describe myself and share my strengths. I would share that I am
Honest, dependable, optimistic, supportive, helpful, good team player, takes
initiative, good communicator and listener, flexible and adaptable, eager to learn
new things, completes tasks on time, and performers well under pressure.
6a) At my last job my boss would walk into my office, assuming I already knew
what he was talking about, and ask for a task to be completed right away. This
would lead to me having difficulty understanding what it was that he wanted,
which would make him frustrated. He was already impatient when he walked into
my office, which would not help the situation.
b) The primary colour of this person was a mix between Green and Gold.
c) Based on my primary colour Blue and my bosss colours Green and Gold,
there is a couple ways to go about fixing this situation. As a Blue, I can relate well
to others, listen and communicate, and have an optimistic attitude. In order to
help this situation, I can communicate the big picture and ask for their input at the
initial stages. Since they have a mixture of Gold, I can provide adequate
resources to do the job. These steps will help gain cooperation of my boss. If, I
went to my boss with the adequate resources to do the job it would show I want
to accomplish this task I just dont fully understand what else needs to be done to
complete, which will allow my boss to then say what else is needed. Then, I can
explain the big picture of the task and ask for input along the way so the outcome
will be exactly what is needed and will help alleviate some frustration from the
situation.
